  1. OH how I can relate!!!! I THOUGHT I had a good idea of my size when I started. I am usually pretty self aware even about that. But when my husband took my before photos I kept asking him if he was sure he didn't have a wide angle lens on it or something. I could NOT believe I was that wide, especially from the back. It just did not look right.

1 month in, after losing 37 lbs and taking updated pictures, THAT version of me is more what I thought I looked like in the beginning but man was I wrong. They really are shocking!!!!

  2. Awesome, I subscribed. ;) You should let your husband get on camera, so we can see his size loss as well. And the earrings were kinda cool.

Edit: WOAH I just watched your "2 weeks after surgery" video. You look like a totally different person!

Thanks Doug!! I was struck by that too when comparing to my older videos. I don't even know that person from the beginning. I never truly saw it when I was that big. I feel like ME again now.

I would LOVE to get my husband on camera but he hasn't had any interest. He is being nice enough to let me post his pictures and talk about him but when he gets on camera he barely musters up a "hi"... LOL. Maybe one of these days!!! I hope!

  3. I posted my 3 month videos in my previous 3 month progress thread but I know they are harder to notice over there. I wanted to share the videos with you here! As well as a bonus video I made today, a little fashion show of the new clothes I got :001_tt2:

  5. Firstly - congrats on your great loss so far! Secondly, I know what you mean. People didn't notice that much til I got to about 50 lbs too. Now in the past month I've gone from 50 to 65 and people keep saying "you look smaller every time I see you!" and "holy cow I can't believe the difference", when they have seen me at -50. I find it hard to believe I've changed so much in JUST this month, so maybe it is just finally catching up to their brains?? So weird!!

You make a good point though that people must not be as aware as we think they are! We should let ourselves off the hook a little :thumbup1:

  6. You are doing so well! I agree, there is a lot that needs to be addressed mentally. I feel really fortunate that I was working with a therapist on my emotional eating issues for a good 6 months before I had surgery. It really helped me get through a lot of the hard stuff before making this big change... so in a way it helped me not to feel like I had to change EVERYTHING all at once! I still find myself "wanting" to eat when I am bored, but I usually don't because I realize I'm really not hungry. That in itself is a huge accomplishment that surgery has really helped me with! Love the sleeve!

  7. My husband and I both dealt with extreme hunger after our surgeries. It sucked especially since, as you said, it seems like many people don't. Unfortunately not much helps when you are on liquids. Once we got to soft foods it got SO much better. Just hang in there it will get better when you get to that phase - it won't last forever. But believe me I KNOWWWWW how hard it is :crying: My friend who just had hers 5 days ago is dealing with it as well.

  8. Christie, I love looking at your blog and reading as well as watching your updates. I think you look fabulous, and I love your attitude toward the whole thing. Congrats on doing so well! I am almost a month out, and I have looked up to you since I saw your one month post-op post. Thanks for updating and being so open about some of the struggles on your blog, while staying positive about the journey. That's hard for me to do sometimes! I look up to you.

Thank you SO much! I got your blog comment as well. I am just really glad to hear that my blogging and videos helps anyone. I am unbelievably flattered to hear you say you have been looking up to me. I had a REALLY crappy day and you totally cheered me up.

  9. Hiya! I started at 310 with a goal weight of 160 so that's 150 lbs to lose. I feel the same way, a lot of people have a lot less to lose. Someone who started around my time has lost about as much as me but they are close to goal now. Nothing against her or anyone else who is a lighterweight than me but yes it does feel like it's really different!

I'm here if you wanna chat about anything!

  10. Hi everyone! So hubby and I had surgery two weeks apart. Mine was May 20th and his was June 3rd. At first he was always a little bit behind me in how much he could eat. At some point he passed me up.

Right now I am 12 weeks post op and he is 10 weeks post op. I am still eating typically 2-4 oz (of course this varies depending on consistency of the food). It seems like in many situations, hubby can eat twice the amount I can.

At a family BBQ recently I took the smallest chicken breast, and ate half of it as well as 1/3 a corn on the cob. Hubby ate his entire piece of chicken breast and the other 2/3 corn on the cob so pretty much exactly double what I ate.

When we both eat chili, he can eat about half a can (so about 6 oz) and I can only eat 3 oz.

So here's the thing - are we both ok? Is he eating too much? Am I eating too little? I know that 8oz is the max they ever want us eating. Neither of us has ever eaten that much so I'm sure we are ok. I feel at times that I should be eating more by now, and that maybe hubby is doing a little too much.

Can those who are 10-12 weeks weigh in on this? Or if you are past that and can recollect what you were able to eat at this time?

We do plan to ask our surgeon at our 3 month appointment coming up Aug 24th... wanted to hear from you guys though! Thanks!!!:frown1:
