Got my 26.2 miles in this morning at the Malibu Marathon. Great venue for a run. With the 40 miles in on my taper, that leaves me 32 miles from my 200 mile goal. I'm going to knock it out next week and take the rest of the year off to recover.

Okay I did it! I did week 1 day 1 of c25k this evening and still managed a total of 3.17 miles for a total of 34.07 miles for the month. I was really impressed with how well I did with the c25k. Better shape than I thought. Now to see how my knees feel in the morning and see how day 2 goes.

You are doing great. 20 miles is great.
I did my first metric century about 15 months after my surgery and 7 months after I got my first bike. It takes a while to work up to this but its incorporated in my triathlon training so I ride three times a week and try to leave the weekend for my longer rides. The riding club I'm in has three levels (A, Bl and C) so I started in the C level to learn the techniques and proper peloton methods I move up and down according to where I need to in my training. The C's usually ride 20-30 miles (10-12 MPH) on Saturday morning, B's ride 30-50 (14-16 MPH) miles and the A's ride 40-75 miles (18-22 MPH) The routes always start and end at a Starbucks so we get our coffee before we start and when we finish . I'm usually in the B group except when I'm ramping up for a race or I'm recovering. I like riding with the B's and C's because they are out for the fun of it. The A's are highly competitive and it's all business. That's not what I'm about.

Just got done doing 39 laps today. That's 1 mile and 6 laps Im right in schedule.
It was a very victorious day for me as I got my a** to the gym in spite of it being a cold Monday, forgetting my ear plugs, and having to put on a suit of icicles (literally!! I left my bag in the car and it was only 29 degrees this morning). All of those would be reasons I backed out of my workout pre sleeve.
    Yay Me! Ready.Set.Swim

I don't want to do anything, I'm so dead. But I'll go in for 200 miles this month.

Hey fitness freaks....and wannabe freaks. Time for the November installment of the fitness challenge. To try to be more inclusive and get more participation, I'm going to open things up in a new way.
The point of this challenge is to set a goal for yourself for the month of November. A fitness goal which will be challenging.....slightly more than you know you can do, more than you did last month. The goal needs to be a concrete measurable goal. The goal can be miles run, walked, biked, swam, ellipted or paddled....or a combination of all of them. But it can also be a goal of hours of exercise. 30 hours of exercise in a month is a challenging goal for many people. It can also be a specific exercise if you prefer....like 3000 squats and 1000 push-ups. Whatever it is, make it challenging, not easy. As I always say, growth and comfort cannot coexist. You want to be slightly uncomfortable. The goal should challenge you...make you slightly nervous as to whether or not you can reach it. Then....GO FOR IT!
Introduce yourself and spell out your goal for the month. Then come back here everyday or as often as you can and update the group as to your current progress toward your goal. Whether or not you make your goal is not the point. The point is to push yourself just a little further than you thought you could go.
I'll start. I'm only 4 weeks post op from my TT so not back to 100% yet, but I anticipate getting stronger as the month goes on. So my goal for November is to walk/run 60 miles. That's double what I'm going to do this month, so a challenging goal. Wish me luck.
Please join in and get moving.

I had absolutely nothing left in the tank about 1.5 miles from the finish and collapsed. If they had helped me, it wouldn't have counted so a woman came out from the crowd and started yelling at me to get up with a Philippino accent . It actually made me laugh and she said "Good. Now go finish." I managed to chuckle the rest of way in just thinking about it. It took my mind off of it, that's for sure. I got some IV fluids and a massage at the end before I went back to the hotel. Funny thing was that I couldn't really sleep long and I was back up only a few hours later. I was kind of in a state of delirium. I didn't want to do anything but feel what I had accomplished. It's something no one can take away from me. I'm actually thinking of getting a tattoo as a reminder of the event (mind you I'll be 60 in a few years and never thought of getting one before, so that is pretty funny to those near to me).

I had mine done there and just got back with my son having his done there. I really do recommend it. It is a strip mall, as said above, so understand that going in. The operating room is just like any other operating room though and the care from the nurses is much better.

I am taking a vacation next week in AZ, where the sun is forever shining. I think I will get out on the roads and put in some long runs. 5-10k per run. We shall see.
