  1. I love reading posts like yours. I don't respond alot just alot of reading. I will be sleeved by Dr. Almanza on July 9th in TJ and it just doesn't seem real yet.

I was first told that my insurance would cover the sleeve and done all the appointments to have it done and when it was time to schedule the surgery the insurance came back and said it was an exclusion on my policy. I felt so crushed... to be so close and then nothing. I had felt the whole time that it was too good to be true and then it was.

I would have never considered Mexico, I was just like everyone else, when you hear Mexico you automatically think Dangerous, Unsterile ect..... Then a friend of mine and her daughter went and came back and said they would do in again in a second. They are 2 months out now and are doing great. I started reading this forum and felt so much more at ease. I feel like I have no worries at all. I'm just ready to do it!!!!

I guess I still have that feeling that it is too good to be true. I recieved my passport in the mail about a week ago, I purchased my plane tickets and I will be calling and paying my deposit today. It should seem real but it really doesn't yet. Did you feel this way, am I just being silly?

  2. Just thought I would chime in since in an okie too. I'm from Glenpool. I'm going to Dr. Almanza also. I will be there July 9th. I can't hardly wait!!!!

One of my coworkers knows 2 girls that went to Dr. Almanza about 7 weeks ago. They loved him and are doing great. They too are from Durant. Her name is Tracie Davis and her daughter. I'm not sure of her daughters name.

Its crazy how many go to Mexico to have this done.

  3. Donna, we will be there together! I also am July 9 with Dr. Almanza.

All, I think there is another July thread, too.Just a heads-up if you want to connect into that one.

Thank you Shangefan, I cannot WAIT!!! I have a ticker on my phon counting down and my coworkers will ask "how much time Donna". Too bad I don't know what time surgery it. LOL

Have you already booked your flights?

  4. as the ex ran a small clinic for several years and the hospital in town was small...i am used to less then a 5 star experience...as long as things are up to snuff there isnt any problem...one cant control infections that just happen...like accidents they just do ...happen that is....people just need to be smarter...but guess they enjoy being stupid

LMAO!!! I agree with you 100%!!!!

  5. Thanks for the reply

I had the acid reflux but not really bad. I also had a large hiatal hernia repaired at the same time and I really think that is why he wanted to do the fundo. I told him at that time I was wanting to have the VSG in the future and he said that would not be a problem at all. It is just happening alot sooner that I thought is was going to. Dr. Almanza said it will not be a problem to take it down. It is a little more complicated and I will have to stay an extra night at the hospital. I feel ok about it but I just want to hear from someone else that has had it done.

  6. I am scheduled with him July 9 also. I know 2 ladies that had surgery with him in March and they are VERY happy. One has lost about 50 pounds and the other just over 20. The lady that has only lost about 20 pounds was not very big to start with so it is coming off a little slower. They both say they would go back to him in a minute.
