Hi Donna,
I just emailed Melissa about the laxatives. She told me that the doctor recommends one dose three days before your surgery. That is also what Louise told me.
OH GOOD, THANKS SHANGEFAN
-
OMG! Yeah, that would do it.
With that said, I pray that she will be better soon.
Thanks Shangefan..... She should be better as soon as she gets the antibiotics in her system. Her daughter had the surgery the same day and she is down 60 pounds and is doing great.

My friend had her surgery with Dr. Almanza 10 weeks ago and she is down 35 pounds. She has felt like crap for the past 4 to 5 weeks. I told her she may be dehydrated but she wouldn't go to the dr. Well she got really bad and went this morning and it turns out she was severly dehydrated and had a kidney infection.
We have to be very careful to get our fluids in. She says she couldn't drink Water that is made her sicker, but then would have a beer or 2 or 3.
I think alot of these horror stories come from stories like this one. Just sayin....

Bariatric Surgery Pre-Op Diet and Instructions
Congratulations and thank you for choosing Mt Zion Medical for your Bariatric Surgery!
Please print out a copy of this and bring it with you as it includes important phone numbers and information you will need to have handy.
One week prior to surgery:
Please stop taking any blood thinners, aspirin, and/or Vitamins that you normally take (doctor prescribed medicines are fine – if you are not sure, please call us).
If you are bringing a guest with you, please let us know in advance so that we can make sure there is room in the van at time of pick-up and a bed at the recovery house for them. If you are bringing a guest and the recovery house is full with patients, we will help them make arrangements to stay at the Marriott (the rate is about $85 US a night).
Three days prior to surgery:
Please take a laxative (1 laxative, 1 time, 3 days before surgery). This will help with the surgical gas and Constipation that comes with surgery.
You will need to be on a liquid ONLY diet. You may have broth, Jell-O, yogurt, sugar-free juice, any clear liquid, Boost, or Slim-Fast. NO SOLIDS of any kind. . This is the recommended pre-op diet for those with a BMI of 40 or below. PLEASE NOTE: A higher BMI requires a liquid diet 5-7 days prior to surgery.
Packing for your trip:
Make sure you have your Passport to cross the border.
Please bring your receipts of payment and your certified cashier's check made out to Jorge Fernandez if you have a balance. If we have made other payment arrangements with you, please make sure they are in order before heading to San Diego.< /p>
Please bring and wear loose fitting clothing so you are comfortable. Often you will be bruised and swollen after your procedure.
You will also want to bring some GasX STRIPS (not pills or chewables) with you.
If you will want to do any shopping, cash works better than credit cards with the local vendors.
Night prior to surgery (many of you will be staying in San Diego at your expense):
NOTHING to eat or drink after midnight

Yes! I, thankfully, have lots of projects and travel for work until then. It seemed so far away but now feels like it is right around the corner. Of course, I would like for it to be tomorrow! LOL
I start liquids on July 4, I think, and fly out on July 8.
From what Melissa sent me I only have 3 days of liquids. Is she the one you talked to?

Hi everyone....first time posting. So glad to have found this site....you are all a wealth of information! I admit I'm addicted to reading all of your posts.
I'm 48 and need to lose about 100 lbs. My spouse just went through her surgery April 4th, so I kind of have an idea about what's in store for me.
I've been approved for surgery on July 11th. I'm very excited to start moving towards a healthy weight.
Welcome Skinnysmurf!!!!

I've read nothing but good and have 2 friends that have been there with him and they are doing great. I can't wait to go!!!

LOL that is hilarious. I am having an extra procedure done so they are wanting me to stay at the house the whole time since there is a nurse there 24/7. I told them that my mother would be with me and Melissa said that was fine they would have a bed for her too. So I thought that was cool. I'm so ready to go!!!! 23 days and counting.

Donna, I just had my surgery with Dr. Almanza 9 days ago and I am very happy with my decision. Today, I am down 15 pounds already. My experience with Dr Almanza was be on excellent. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Johanna:)
Johanna, that is so awesome to hear. I have just over three weeks and I'm starting to get nervous. Did you stay in the recovery house? I've heard that everyone is awesome it's just crowded at times.
-
I'm so excited for you and the family. I wish I had someone close to me having the surgery also.
I am having mine with Dr. Almanza on July 9th. Are him and Dr. Kelly from the same clinic or is he at the hospital?
-
I haven't had anything taken out but I have been having horrible breakouts, horrible periods and hot flashes. My Dr. says it is the change in my hormones due to the weight I have recently lost. She says it will level out when I get to a stable weight.
-
Congrats on your weight loss. I've been losing and I'm not sure how. I haven't been sleeved yet... July 9th is my day. I'm so ready for my hormones to get under control.
-
Fat loss releases hormones into your system that were trapped in the fat cells. This makes sense, though it does not sound pleasant. All the best to you on your journey!
My Dr. told me the same thing. Good luck
-
Mine seems to be working now. Someone must have read your post and fixed it.
-
Congratulations on your weight loss!!!! My ticker is messed up too and I can't edit it. Hummm

I am having surgery in Mexico and the surgeon said he has done a few reversals and that isn't not a big deal it just requires a little more time. He seemed pretty confident about it. It is costing an extra $1500 to take it down. Juuly 9th is my day... I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
