    CAULIFLOWER PIZZA

I think I am going to try it soon. I do feel like cooking right now. The idea of calling it pizza is obviously killing the Italian me () and I have no idea what "Italian seasoning" is, but I guess fresh oreganon will do, won't it? I am going shopping!!!

    My new NSV!!!

Wow! Good on you! A size 8 is actually my goal, here in normal shops it's kinda the largest size you can get, if you don't want to go shopping in big ladies' shops! Congratulations!!! I can't wait to be there myself!
  3. Do you have effervescent vitamins to dissolve in water there? This is what I use. Seeing that I hardly tolerate water, it also helps me getting fluids during the day. Here we have them with orange or lemon flavour and they normally aren't too sweet (I take some that also have magnesium, potassium and other useful stuff in it)...
  4. I have no idea how to avoid appetizers. I am struggling with them too. Here in Torino instead of having dinner out we often just have an "aperitivo" or appetizer. You just pay for a drink (between 7 and 10 euros) and you can eat all what you want from the buffet, or the waiters keep bringing stuff. There are any kinds of appetizers: from small amounts of pasta to pieces of sandwiches, crisps, fries, cheese, salamis, anything you can imagine. No proteins, if you don't count the cheese on the mini pizzas! It was born in Milan then many cities adopted it too. Gosh, it's a nightmare, but it's a very common way to have this type of "dinner" with friends (because it's cheap and doesn't really require dressing up for a restaurant). I haven't learnt how to manage it either. Yesterday I had a glass of wine (I drunk a couple of sips) and a mini pizza. I did feel guilty, thank goodness I was full straight away! I don't have a solution but I share the same kind of problem!
  5. Great topic. It made me realise I am not being good... I am doing my best, though... -I am 2 months and 2 days out. I have lost 17 kgs out of 37 I am supposed to lose (37.4 pounds out of 81.4). I am REALLY satisfied. -I eat 4 times a day: Breakfast, lunch, mid afternoon and dinner. Not a big amount of food. -I am definitely not getting the 80 gr Proteins in, but my nutritionist told me to stop the Protein shakes last time I saw him, so this isn't really my fault! (I guess in Italy people are just not used to this kind of things). -I do get my Vitamins through effervescent supplements which I add to Water twice a day, it helps me drink water as well, I am definitely not drinking enough... Probably 3 big glasses of water a day. -I introduce an average of 600 kcal per day during the week, while on weekends sometimes up to 1000 if I go out for lunch/dinner (I normally have a glass of wine, this is why) -I go twice a week to the gym for 1.5 hour. -I am super tired, but at the moment everyone is. We are having a very hot spring (30° C or 86°F), which is unusual for us living next to Alpes, my hubby and I feel like sleeping all the time, shame we can't! -And I don't feel cold. I read that many people do, after vsg, I absolutely don't.

    Hungry on full liquids

I felt hungry all the time with liquids too, or just annoyed that I couldn't chew anything. Everything changed when I switched to mashed food, then I wasn't that hungry anymore and I was satisfied with the food I ate!
  7. In Rome. I love the weather down here! And I love to see my friends now that I am 2 months post-op! :-)

    Insulin Pumpers having VSG?

Hello! Glad to hear you found our experience useful! During surgery and in the days right after it I had quite high blood sugar, I was told that that's because your body is under a lot of stress. The hospital will take care of you. You should definitely ask your diabetologist how much insulin you should take after surgery. I am still off the pump right now but I'm going back on it NeXT week. Right now I use lantus before going to bed and humalog before meals. I wanted to leave my belly alone for awhile after surgery. Lantus does give me low blood sugar sometimes. I bought toffee candies that easily melt in my mouth and I keep them everywhere: next to my bed, in my bag, in the kitchen... Something else that can help you is caffeine free tea with sugar: I used to keep a bottle of it in my fridge and drink it if needed. These few calories are not going to interfere with your diet, do not worry!

    65-70 lbs to lose

I haven't met a stall yet but in this case people normally tell you to be sure you track your food every single day. Count your calories. Do you see a nutritionist on a reguar basis? Do you know how many calories you consume every day? Do you know what food kills your diet? I know that, no matter how many calories I eat, if I eat carbs I can kiss my weight loss goodbye. That's me, I know it's different for everyone. Try to remember how motivated you were right after your surgery. You have a tool that will help you stick to a diet, but you have to be on a diet...
  10. I actually talked to my nutritionist, whom I am seeing once a month. We decided that 58 kgs (128 lbs) will be fine. I have no idea what I'll look like then. I don't remember being that light in my life; the lightest I have ever been at high school was 148 (overweight anyway for my height). This way I shouldn't have much fat left and won't be insulin resistant. I am 166 cm (which should be 5.45 feet).

    Piercings?

  13. Hello optasia! Of course it's your choice, but what I can tell you from my personal experience is that I can sleep well. An example: I woke up past 11 this morning. I wake up at 8 every morning and get my nice 9 hours of sleep every night (I don't have kids yet). I had problems with sleeping the first 2 weeks, because of the scars, but that's it. I am not even 2 months out and I already go to parties. I try almost everything, just in very small amounts. I have lost 15 kgs/33 lbs and I already like myself so much, I can't believe it's me the one in the mirror! The thing is, I don't miss food, I am just not interested anymore. I can compare myself to my skinny friends now, the ones who are full with a small amount of food and never talk about it. I really don't feel like I am missing things. I actually feel like I have a lot of time to concentrate on stuff other than food! I was lucky with my in-laws (mother-in-law in very understanding, my father-in-law was and still is in Afghanistan, so no-one told him), maybe yours will be understand too... You never know!
  14. Hello and welcome to the losers' bench! I don't know exactly why you feel so good but I think it's a great way to start your journey! It may depend on your age, as you said. I remember that when I was between 19 and 25 I never slept, always out partying and clubbing and being stupid and even managed to get my degree on time. Now I need 2 friggin days to recover from a night out clubbing and drinking (I mean, until 2 months ago before I got sleeved, no way I am going out drinking right now!) and I am only 30! Anyway, enjoy your weight loss and I wish you to keep feeling this good!
  15. I don't even know what "starch" means, so I can't help you with that. I just can tell you that I was worried too right after surgery. I could drink so much (a part from pure water): hot soups, tea, broth, protein drinks,.. I even LOVED my protein shakes! I too felt like I could eat anything, I was craving the weirdest food ever (do you know what tortellini are? Well, I was dying for them). Then I stopped my liquid diet and started with pured food and there I realized I really had the sleeve done. With "real" food the cravings stopped. There are days where I might think about something special (today it is chocolate, for example, because I bought some for a friend this morning), but most of the times I don't. This is my experience, but I read more than once people being worried about the same thing. I really wouldn't worry too much. Enjoy your liquids because with real food it is going to be harder...

    How To Tell Him

Tiffykins, you are right. When I told mine he was horrified. Completely against it. He too likes round girls but... It was the right choice. And he still is like before (he needed a couple of weeks to adjust to the idea of me losing weight), ou relationship hasn't changed a bit: still fighting, arguing, having sex, having fun. Last Sunday he even said: "You really made the right choice". I think he enjoys the fact that I am not obsessed with food anymore and that I don't hate myself anymore. If YOU are convinced that it's the right choice at some point he will understand. Explain your reasons. Tell him how you've been fighting this problem all your life and that he can ask you any question he likes. That you need his support. Maybe if he feels somehow involved in your decision (and not having the decision just "dropped" on his head) he will be more understanding...
  18. Thank you for sharing. It amazing to hear that you don't regret doing it, even 2 years later. And that you are doing fine, keeping your weight etc etc. It is great, especially for us who just started or are going to start their journey soon. And yes! We all do love the before and after pics! Thanks again!!!

    Drinking

I sometimes take a couple of sips of water during my meals, it depends on the food (baby food doesn't need water, fish does in order not to get stuck in my throat!). My sips are very little otherwise I really have no more space for food!

    So thankful

Nieces and nephews can be annoying sometimes, but Thank God for them! Yours really gave you a great kick! Congratulations on the huge weightloss!

    65-70 lbs to lose

Kimmyegg, people were telling me the same. I started with a BMI of 34/35, I had to go abroad and pay everything on my own but I am SO happy I did it. My family was annoying and against it but they have now realized that I made the best choice for my health. I have 81 lbs to lose altogether, I could have never done it on my own. I started with 209 lbs and have to reach 128 (more or less, I count in kgs, so I was 95 and want to be 58). I am 166cm or 5'4''. I can tell you that I am really happy with the choice I made.
  23. That's fantastic, congratulations Tiffykins!!!

    Piercings?

You might ask the people at the shop to change them... I'd be scared to do it myself (nipples seem so delicate with my tongue I had no problems though)!
