Coop! So sorry you are feeling bad, the flu has swept through our school, and when it catches you, you are down for the count until it lets you go. Sheryl, the kidney stone was recent? I have never had them but know those that have and it sounds like living hell! My right knee and left arch are doing an "old lady" on me. I just got braces for them both because I just cant stand limping around and the thought of having to give up dance. That would be hell! I wore them both to class tonight, and maybe it helped some. I will have to use them for a while and see if the pain changes. They sure are UGLY. I havent been on the bike for 3 weeks..... I was going to go out last sunday, but the knee and arch were acting up... I probably could have ridden ok, but if I dropped the bike, no way I could have gotten it back up alone. Craig and his mom are going to fly in on Sunday pm, so probably go out with him soon if the weather holds out. Thanks for asking. My anxiety was so loud and crumby, mostly noticeable when I wake up in the morning.... I have been using more magnesium, oiling myself with sesame oil ( Tibetan medicine) and a list of other little things... when I went to the Tibetan Drs when I was living in India, they told me I had a "Wind disorder" One of the recommendations to avoid the problems that come with that (anxiety) is to avoid standing on cliffs in the wind! Well one morning I was feeling like crap, and I remembered that warning... and had to laugh.... being on a motorcycle is more than a little like standing on a cliff in the wind. I'm working on it.... felt better this morning.

I hate to say it, but it's nice to have some company with this situation. When I first started gaining, I was alone.
    We can fight better together!

    Georgia,
I didn't realize we were so close in age. I always feel like the old lady in here.
I did well fasting today. I hope to see 145 tomorrow again. I did well Sat. when we had a ton of junk here for my DIL's baby shower.
My back has been hurting more. I wish I could get the x ray in March and not April . This dieting could really be messing up my fusion. I have to do it though. It's too depressing to have half a closet full of clothes I can't wear. And I have no pants to wear. I have an extra dresser in the guest room full of pants I can't wear.

Cathy, that is Awesome! We can do this!!!
Coops, here's to a better week!
Denise and Sheryl, two words -THIN MINT! Can't have them around. Can't resist them! . But I'm into CAKE. I don't know what it is but last year or so it is a craving! Never was a bigger until now. LOL. I just don't bake and try to avoid but if I'm somewhere and there is a dessert, I will have a slice and make up cals somewhere else hopefully.
Was down another pound on Friday so that makes 18 since Jan 2. It does feel good to be productive right now. I just want to be slim and "in charge" for Spring/Summer plus at 62 I've got to fight the health things that sneak up on you like diabetes 2, blood pressure if possible. I'm convinced you can only do so much. Your genetic mapping just comes into play regardless sometimes.
    Happy Monday, All!

So nice to hear from all you ladies! So sorry for your loss Denise... Sometimes life is so hard to take.
I have to say, Coops, you look darling in those photos! Sheryl! Glam! You don't look too thin, you look just right. Georgia, you are an inspiration to me. I was going to start 5:2 again on thursday, but just couldn't wait so fasted yesterday and kept it under 1300 cals today with some good exercise as well. I am way up and it is SO easy for me to gain right now. I need to lose close to 30 pounds if I want to back at the old low. I just don't feel that "normal" feeling any more... I know I still weight less than I used to.... but.... anyway... I'm back on track, and so happy to have your company ladies! Cathy, you are such a great support here, I really appreciate you.

I am 9 yrs out and have regained 75lbs I had an incident where i was almost murdered. I had two strokes and a brain aneurysm afterwards. I basically just didnt give a crap after that. Im only 42 yrs old. Ive started the pouch reset diet. Its hard but im powering through the hunger. Ive also started doing small exercises and short walks as I have done nothing really since being ill and having brain surgery. Wish me luck. 75lbs seems impossible right now but I did it before and Im going to do it again. For myself and my four kids.

Sheryl, glad your thigh is doing better. Glad you have vigilant Drs looking out for you.
Coops, it's a lot isn't it? Just did the whole thing ( four parks) for 10 days in January. My DIL is a Disney fanatic!!!
I've done pretty well getting back on the right track since first of year. My goal each day is 1000 cals tops. I try to do two lower cal days on Tues/Thurs of about 500-600. Hit 15 pounds last Friday so feeling better about it all.
I've looked at pics from couple years ago when we REALLY got on the 5:2 and I was at lowest and I truly looked my best and felt my best. Need to lose another 10-15 to hit that real low again.
Anybody heard from Florinda or did I miss it? Kinda worried

I'm back! And boy am I tired or what... the actual travelling is really difficult then add 45 kids... wow! But we had an amazing time...just so much to see and so much fun to have. I never aspired to visit Disney before the trip but I have to be honest it was amazing. The people that we encountered we just so helpful and happy... I felt at 'home' there. My colleagues joked that I must have 'American' blood! When I have put the photos on my computer I will post them here,
Each day was crammed with activities; we went to Nasa which was just the best experience. It was overwhelming in many ways, especially when I saw Atlantis, that was breath taking. We also went to the Hollywood Studio and Magic Kingdom theme parks as well as Blizzard Beach and the Epcot Centre. Like I said, it was a lot to do and we rushed around a lot but totally worth it.
So, it is back to normal now... back on the fast train Tue and Thurs. Oh, and I have given up meat for Lent - this is going to be a hard one.
Hope all is well with you lovely ladies,

Yep. Lots of choices for Veggies. Just keep track and make sure you are eating enough Protein. If you eat eggs and dairy, gluten and soy, you really have a lot of choices. Nuts and Beans too.... As a veggie, you can still eats loads of junk and sliders, so just keep on top of that, and everything should be ok. Make sure you take your B Vitamins.< /p>

Hi guys... its your long lost sis from California! Going well on this end. Still riding the bike, and made my first solo ride today. I went into town and to the Crocker art museum. Saw a couple of good shows, turned around and rode home. Proud of myself. I get so scared-y-cat the whole morning before I go riding. Clears up pretty good when Im on the bike though. So when I got on our thread this time, I knew I would have PAGES to read to catch up, but for some reason when I tried to go backwards from this page, I would go back to July 2013. I tried it a couple of times and same thing. So I am in the dark about whats up with you guys. Sheryl.... Thigh? Guess I will just jump in and start fresh.
Craig is in New Zealand... its kind of nice to be on my own for a while. I get a chance to remember who I am without him. Just do my own thing, how I drive, clean, shop, spend time doing what I want and such. Just this week I was invited to be in two art shows in LA. Should be fun. Means I need to get down to work on the painting.... I've been so busy with the bike and work.... It will be nice to get back in a groove painting.
I seem to have stabilized at around 25 pounds up.... at least Im still 60 down. I have been doing the pouch test thing, and lost 2 of it... been keeping under 1100 cals a day on most days this week... and think I will get back into the 5:2 after I get the carb monster a little bit more under control. Feeling optimistic. Anyway, back in the pack. Nice to see you guys are still here! Happy Valentines Day All!

Lets be honest here..if you thought it was perfectly fine you wouldn't have asked.
My doc wouldn't operate on anyone who had smoked 30 days before surgery.
Nicotine kills your circulation (hence smokers wrinkles) as well as other problems... other chemical components can cause problems too... Here is one medical paper that talks about it...there are many more listed on google...
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1323208
I would say, if you must smoke, wait at least until your stomach heals... over 8 weeks. Please don't take these comments as rude... I think the people here are just looking out for your health and success... I am also an ex-smoker, and sometimes it is said that ex-smokers are the most down on smoking of anyone... I think this might be true!
    Abstract
The association between cigarette smoking and delayed wound healing is well recognized in clinical practice, although extensive controlled studies have yet to be performed. The documented effects of the toxic constituents of cigarette smoke--particularly nicotine, carbon monoxide, and hydrogen cyanide--suggest potential mechanisms by which smoking may undermine expeditious wound repair. Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor that reduces nutritional blood flow to the skin, resulting in tissue ischemia and impaired healing of injured tissue. Nicotine also increases platelet adhesiveness, raising the risk of thrombotic microvascular occlusion and tissue ischemia. In addition, proliferation of red blood cells, fibroblasts, and macrophages is reduced by nicotine. Carbon monoxide diminishes oxygen transport and metabolism, whereas hydrogen cyanide inhibits the enzyme systems necessary for oxidative metabolism and oxygen transport at the cellular level. Slower healing has been observed clinically in smokers with wounds resulting from trauma, disease, or surgical procedures. The reduced capacity for wound repair is a particular concern in patients undergoing plastic or reconstructive surgery. Compared with nonsmokers, smokers have a higher incidence of unsatisfactory healing after face-lift surgery, as well as a greater degree of complications following breast surgery. Smokers should be advised to stop smoking prior to elective surgery or when recovering from wounds resulting from trauma, disease, or emergent surgery.
