    March Roll Call!

Hey Fellow Sleevers!! I wanted to update everyone on my condition. Unfortunately I have to be the Downer of the day. I've been to the ER twice for a gallbladder attack and dehydration. I seriously did not eat for 4 days because the nausea was 24/7. I couldn't even hug my husband because of his cologne. I just thought it was my cycle and decided to push through. But I had the gallbladder attack Friday and I seriously thought I was dying! My heart rate shot up to 113, my BP dropped, and I could feel myself blacking out. Now, the scary part about all of this is since I have medical training, I knew EXACTLY what was happening, which freaked me out more LOL I can laugh about it now, but then, I really thought I was a goner. I have an appointment to talk to my surgeon about yet another surgery to have this thing removed. Take away points: If you have gallbladder stones, symptoms whatever before your surgery, its best just to get that thing out of there before you have an attack. The gallbladder is not a happy camper once you start losing weight and it will not get better. It's too close to the pancreas and liver to have tantrums. Do NOT take your symptoms for granted. Your body is not the same as it was before this surgery so normal symptoms may be a sign of something else. You may feel like a hyperchondriac, but better safe than sorry.
  3. Back in ER, Turns out it is my gallbladder that is acting up. Now I have to figure out when my next surgery will be.

  4. Back in the er :(. Haven't eaten in 3 days. Right upper quad pain. No bueno, I have a quiz today

    March 2012 Vsg

Glad to hear you are doing well! I've been using small handweights about 5 lbs and doing reps until muscle exhaustion. I sit in my chair to support my back and stomach and do every arm exercise I can think of until I cant go anymore. I'm not as saggy as I used to be so it must be working.

Week 4/ One Month Since Surgery!

Thickhawk, I'm sorry to hear you're having so much pain and yes, I really miss being able to gulp my liquids but know, it really does get better. Before my ER incident I was doing great. Hang in there and know that the end results are definitely worth it. I've lost about 40 lbs and I'm still going. I never would have been able to do that on my own.

Week 4/ One Month Since Surgery!

Wow, so where do I start? Let's go backwards Yesterday I was in the ER. I hadn't had an appetite for 4 days. I'm really dehydrated and I've barely been able to look at any food, let alone stomach it. Around 5pm I started having really bad pains across my stomach and I got really dizzy and nauseated and if I had anything in my stomach it would have been all over the floor.. My heart was racing, I was really hot and that was scary because I'm always cold, and I was hyperventilating. I didn't want to go to the ER because they are HORRIBLE but he made me because I had symptoms of a leak. Long story short, I left AMA, I mean just walked right out with an IV still in my arm. I waited 3 HOURs for pain/nausea meds and never got them. I was so livid I just walke out. So, I don't know if I have a leak. During those 3 HOURs, my symptoms subsided and I felt a little better and I thought if there was something really wrong, they would have seen it on the xray and I would have been up in the OR by now. I know I'll probably get some flack for walking out, but I work in medical and let me tell you Bethesda Naval medical center is by far THE WORST facade of a hospital I've ever seen. 3 hours is unacceptable to wait in pain. I don't know what is going on with me. The first 26 days was great. I was eating well getting in my protein and water and once my period hit, everything went downhill. Is this normal? Does this ever go away and will I ever get my appetite back? I hate being nauseous at the smell of food.

Week 4/ One Month Since Surgery!

Hey ladies, thanks for responding. Liberated I wonder the same thing. I was doing well before my period hit and now that it is over I am feeling better and I've been able to eat again. I had lab work done a few weeks ago but I haven't heard the results yet. I am going to set up an appointment next week with my doctor and let her know what happened. Missmarbe, I am really considering changing my insurance so that I can go outside of the base for healthcare. I would rather pay than get it for free at that place. Thank you ladies for your concern! I will keep you both posted

    Protein Shakes Making Me Sick

I think someone mentioned it, but it may be lactose intolerance. I developed it around 2 weeks post op. It was a royal pain because I had 3 different kinds of protein and I've spent so much money trying to find something that doesn't make my stomach turn!! This post IS right on time!!
  18. I read something about a 12 or 13 year old VSG patient, but not sure if she had a leak.

    Teeth And Gums Feel Weird

I'm noticing that I'm having more pain in my teeth and gums. I haven't been doing good with getting in my vitamins or protein so I wonder if that has any correlation.
  20. How things can flip in an instant. I just left the hospital. I was having horrible stomach pains and feared I had a leak.
