I've tried many, many different brand and found some that agree with me, and some that don't. I once was told that if the total carbs in a Protein bar aren't more than double the protein listed, then it's safe. It's not great for you, but better than some of the other bars. I have found that if you're lucky enough to live in the Kroger grocery store areas, that they have been having a weekly sale on Protein Bars, in thier health type food area of the store. They pick a few brands or styles and sell them 10 for $10. That's not too bad at all. Of course check the total carb to protein ratio to see if any worth buying that week. They normally change ads on Tues or Wed for the week.

I had the single incision VSG. But it wasn't single.....hahhaa I had a Q-ball incision also. A tiny cut that had a tube going in where they were able to put in pain meds directly at the site inside. It was less to take care of with the one 2inch glued shut and the small healing incision than 5 or more. I'm sure inside my stomach muscles were split open rather wide to put all the insturments inside. Lots of "learning" when healing with not using my stomach muscles, but rather glad i had it with only one incision.

can anyone recommend a good protein bar
roshov replied to janinemaire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try them all, that look good. The advice i was given was if the Total Carbs is double or more than the protien, don't eat it (got too many carbs). In Texas we have Kroger that has multiple brands always on sale 10 bars for $10, so i get to try multiple brands and flavors. -
Liquid Torture, I mean diet...
roshov replied to Papillon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A friend turned me on to Snow Cone places that had sugar free flavors. The place near me had 4 aweful tasing SF flavors, but the one near her had around 20 SF flavors. Grape is growing on me. -
You're probably going to be weak from loosing all that weight. B12, keep up the liquids and protein. Get out and walk and the energy will come back, slowly and steadily. You made a decision to eat better and do better. Take things slow :cursing:

Day 2 is bad.....and slowly gets better after that, as long as you don't push things too hard (and you'll know it quickly). You might have a few small set backs, but take it easy for the rest of that day (no using stomach muscles) and it will be better again by the next day.

When i'm not eating, i'm waiting my allotted time to drink again, and back and forth all day long....exhausting trying to get in all my protein and liquids. Protein bars help boost things and do go down really easy compared to some foods.

And the stupid comments begin...

I wouldn't mention Mexico, cause alot of people freak out. Just say you're on a diet or you've already eaten. It works -
No Cutting Sleeve? Have you heard of this
roshov replied to AlienBandit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know that they can re-size a gastric bypass pouch from inside, never heard about a sleeve from the inside. -
How long did you stay in the hospital?
roshov replied to Dave_NW's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to expect 2-3 days. I had my surgery on Monday mid afternoon and was discharged around 9-10 pm on wednesday. -
Cash Pay- Houston Area??
roshov replied to Tiffany_223's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try Dr. Sherman Yu or Scarborough in the med ctr area. They use different hospitals depending on insurance or cash. -
You may stall for a couple days....stay off the scale. Maybe once a week, weigh. Your body is getting used to what you did to it, what you're putting into it and how much exercise you're getting. Eat what works, just carefully.

How soon/How much walking
roshov replied to ChrisV67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was walking SLOWLY about a mile on day 6 (carrying a bottle of water). DON'T get bored and try to do alot more than you should. 3.0 mph and 2.5-3.0 elevation on the treadmill on day 12-13....ohhhh i needed the liquid lortab that night. Just take your time and everthing will get easier. -
I'm "trying" to use bariatric advantage chewable vitamins and i get extremely nauseated every time i try them. I do Celebrate brand calcium (chocolate brownie) and it works for me. The chewable calcium tabs caused the same effect (nausea). Any ideas for vitamins that won't cause nausea so much? liquid, chewable, etc???
