The ProCare bariatric Vitamins are "cheap" (under $15/month) and you only take one a day. They're chewable and honestly they don't taste great but for that price I don't care!

I've never heard of that so I'm not much help... Sorry. I can tell you that my surgeon strongly prefers bypass after the band instead of the sleeve because he said band and sleeve both put a lot of pressure on the stomach and if you've already had a surgery with stomach pressure, you're less likely to do well with the same type of restriction.
It took me a long time to decide for sure to do bypass instead of sleeve, but I did because I really trust my surgeon.

Rachel412 reacted to Travelher in Daily carb goal?
My dietitian wants a minimum of 100 carbs a day as well. I was between 30-50. carbs do help brain function and I have noticed an improvement in forgetfulness since I started adding them back in. I am trying to a 35% carbs, 25% fat and 40% Protein macro balance. I usually end up around 30/30/40. at my current calorie intake I end up with 76 grams of carbs which are mainly from oats with chia seeds for Breakfast and blueberries. as I up my calories I'll hit the 100 grams of carbs/day.
i looked at my food diary yesterday and I had 76 grams of carbs, however when you consider the carbs i eat are all high in Fiber if you subtract that (24 grams) I netted around 52 grams of carbs.

I didn't truly realize that when I drank, I chugged. Can't do that anymore, and even just drinking 1-2 gulps at a time feels ridiculous so I'm not getting all my Water in every day.

Rachel412 reacted to needtorecover in Ultimate motivation for mothers of toddlers
I went to the gym yesterday for the first time in way too long and I brought my toddler (almost 2 years old) along with me. There's a daycare center that will watch little ones from 4-8 pm so I thought I'd give it a try. LO normally stays home with his grandmother during the day so he's not used to daycare. I was sort of dreading dropping him off because I was afraid he'd cry.
Upon seeing all the kids and toys, he wriggled out of my arms and ran straight for the action, banging his hands against the barrier enthusiastically to get in and have fun.
Much to my relief, I signed him in, went to the gym and... it was BLISSFUL! I could listen to my music, watch HGTV, and exercise all without a small person clinging to my legs and demanding my absolute undivided attention! Ended up doing 50 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of stretching.
Even better, LO had a great time and ended up wearing himself out so bedtime was much easier! All around, a major win in my household. My motivation to hit the gym has increased 10-fold.

Is it a lunch at a restaurant or a home party? People won't even notice unless you're all sitting around a table and your plate is empty. It's pretty easy to say "I'm not hungry" and leave it at that.

I will never forget the laughter at my obese husband when he had heatstroke in the Bahamas, when he was in the ER at Freeport. I have pictures of the fat kid when he was 12. I am married to the most gentle and wonderful man in the world, I have watched him go days without eating, go two years on liquid shakes, Optifast, with heartbreak. I have called Rescue so many times. Twenty five years together, and I now see him as a happy man the first time in his life about himself. I laugh at the amount of clothes he buys. I laugh at him being 69 years old and letting his grey hair grow a little, asking me if it is long enough for a ponytail. He will never be laughed at again.

Pre-surgery I was a binger. I got comfort (or at least thought I did) from that full feeling.
I'm about 6 weeks out from RNY and no, I am NOT binging. But full sneaks up on me! I'll be eating some cheese and bam, I go from fine to ow, too much.
Is this the way it'll be going forward? I'm fine with it if it is... Just wondering if full, whatever full is (right now it's between 1-2 oz) is always going to be uncomfy.

Rachel412 got a reaction from Raechel in Binders
My surgeon puts them on all bariatric patients when the surgery is over so we wake up with them. He said to keep mine on for a month. It actually feels really good... when I take it off for a while I can feel my incisions painfully or uncomfortably rubbing up against stuff. With the binder on I feel nothing at all.

I went for my one year follow up, and the only thing I'm short on is Vitamin D. It's the winter and Chicago's temperature started out at -8, so I won't be a sun worshipper any time soon. I've been placed on Vitamin D supplements, but everything else looks great.
I just made it down 100 pounds in a year! Attached are the before and after pics of December 20, 2015 to December 20, 2016. Here's to a great 2017!

I understand what you're talking about. I'm one month out and sometimes I feel incredibly hungry. I KNOW it's not real hunger but it sure feels like it. My suggestion is to drink a serving of Water or broth, and make sure you're taking your PPI. Now that I can take my Vitamins I'll make sure I'm caught up on those because sometimes just the chewing tricks my brain.
