  1. OMG!! I went for one of my last pre op visits with my surgeon and when they weighted me, I gained 6 pounds!!! I was doing so well up until the beginning of this month. I went into a bit of a blue funk and I sometime emotionally eat and hence the weight gain. I'm sooo scared my insurance will deny me because it looks like I didn't follow thru with the diet! I can keep myself in the butt!!! OAN: I have a surgery date of September 19th! I can't really be excited because of this weight gain issue! Please pray for me that all goes well...

  2. I totally agree with the others. I also work in a small office of about 12 ppl and I have just recently opened up to 3 co workers about having my surgery. We are an office that also brings in treats for everyone to nibble on and in addition I sit next to the company cafe. So the smells are always driving me crazy. I don't expect for the cafe to move to the other side of the building nor my co-workers to stop doing what they do, all i can ask is that they respect my wishes not to tempt or flaunt food around me, lol! Once our mind set has changed into eating to live instead of living to eat, it won't see so hard. :D

  3. Hey all my september sleevers!!! Me and my doctor are shooting for a september date as well. I have finished 90% of all my testing. I have to do a sleep study, chest x-ray & have a venus doppler test and that's it! I'm so excited to finally be making that change to healthier/happier me. I have a million emotions I go thru and it seemed like september would take FOREVER to get here and look its damn near August. I'm wishing all the best of luck and hoping we all graduate to that loser's bench with honors, lol!! I'll be watching everyone's process.

  4. I toldly agree too! Once you sell something so near and dear to you, you may instantly regret it. I know what the money means to you and live a longer life my be better than being unhealthy with a cherished item. It's a truly hard call. I am having a hard time getting the money together for my surgery. My doctor feels that my insurance will cover it, but I have spoken with them several times and was told that they don't cover any WLS, at least the insurance package my job has. I am strongly looking into going to Mexico or trying to find some sort of finance company to go thru. I hope all things work out for you kansasgirl!! I'll keep you in my prayers. And msleesa...thanks for the info, I'm going to check it out myself.

  5. My experience was like Debbie's except I was there at 7am, so I didn't have worry about being too hungry. I also had to change into a gown and sat in a big chair while the nurse went over some info, than another nurse came and got me. I went into the room and had the iv put in, they put the bit in my mouth and oxygen in my nose and the dr started to talk, but I only remember hearing he name. Next thing I knew I was in recovery. I was really sleepy once I "woke" up and than I was moved to the big chair again and they gave me some Snacks and water/juice. I fell asleep for a bit and then my ride came in and I left. I was extremely nervous also because I never been "under" before, but it was ok, my throat wasn't even sore. You'll be fine!!

  6. Lol, I understand the stress. I hate having naked nails, but it won't last long. I have to say all the Protein in my diet is making for really strong nails though.

wow...i was checking out your requirments and we are on a very similar path, i should be having my date early sept also! good luck with everything!!

  7. Thanks so much StacyS! I will make sure to call my insurance company as soon as possible.

Like the other poster said... Make sure you contact your insurance company FIRST! Find out what THEY require in order for you to be approved. Some require a 3 or 6 month supervised diet with the surgeon's nutritionist, other insurances only require documentation that you've attempted to lose weight unsuccessfully (WW or Jenny). Honestly, all the other appts will be guided through your surgeon's office... ie: Psych Eval, Nutritionist, Upper GI, etc. There is no reason to make those appts w/out knowing if you're going to actually need them or not. So, please make sure you contact your insurance FIRST and then go from there!!

  8. Hi everyone,

I'm a newbie and strongly considering getting the vertical sleeve. I have a few questions, but I'll start with the main one first. What are the doctors/exams you have to see/do for the surgery?? It seems like I have a good idea, but everytime I read a new post or watch a new video on youtube or go to a new forum, I get a different answer! I want to make sure I on the right path and don't want to go to doctors that I don't have to. I know I will get this information from my surgeon, but I would love to get a jump start on this if I can. I truly want to have this surgery this year.

This is what I have so far, as to who you have to see:

    1. Psychologist

    2. Pulmonary

    3. Nutritionist

    4. PCP

    5. Labs

    6. Upper GI

    7. Stress test

    8. Chest exam (is this the same as the upper GI?)

    9. And of course, your surgeon

Am I in the ball park or way out in left field? I appreciate any and all help. TIA!! :D
