    July 2010's NEW losers!

Cheri, I know what you mean....I feel like I'm always putting something in my mouth! I am using a product called ISOPUR, it's a liquid protien, and tastes "ok"...no mixing or anything. It is 40g of protien in a bottle, and i can drink a bottle in about 45minutes or so...so i get liquids and protien at the same time. I am making my protien tallys every day..although its hard work. I have also stopped weighing myself, except for Saturdays (tomorrow, I'm so excited). I found that i was obsessing with the scale, and decided i would only weigh on saturdays.... We'll see what tomorrow brings..... P.S. Just walking for abut 30 minutes a day or so...nothing more at this point. Will start the gym early september. Best of luck to everyone..and hope you're all enjoying the summer.

    Gnochi? Soft/Mushy?

Gnocchi are made with potato, and a little egg, and LOTS of flour. They also expand in your stomach, so I would strongly caution you against this Italian delight...sorry.

Help! Am I drinking too quickly?

I am the same! I'm almost 3 weeks since surgery, and have no real issues drinking thin liquids rather quickly. It is impossible for me to drink them as slowly as my Dr suggested, so rather than sip, sip, sip...I take a drink, drink, drink. Sometimes when I do drink too fast, I feel the tightness in my chest, which means stop or slow down. I've not tried gulping....the though of that is just too scary to me.
  5. If the beans are too thick, add some beef or chicken broth...
  6. My surgeon suggested I wait 30 days...

    Need Ideas

Wow, suchj great ideas! I'm so bored on full liquids I could just shoot someone! Saturday brings me to mushies, and I know I'm going to be a happier person because of it! These are great ideas, and they're on my shopping list! You guys are wonderful!
  9. Hello Everyone, Hoping for some help from those that have reached their goal weight! My husband has told me he would like to go out and buy me a "special" dress, in the final goal size, so once I fit into it, he can take me out for a special evening of dancing! My problem? I've never been 145lbs as an adult, so I have NO IDEA what size dress to tell him to choose for me! I'm 5'7 inches. If I weigh 145lbs, what size dress would I be wearing? Help!!!

    July 2010's NEW losers!

Hi Donna, I agree, it's just great that we can all share our experiences and turn to each other in times of need, or for support! Cheri, nice to hear from you! I've been in touch with Gaby at Dr. A's office regarding the diet and especially the 10-20g of carbs! (next to impossible). If you pm me with your personal email, I'll shoot over her response. Perhaps we can communicate via email on a regular basis? SA has not been shopping yet...but I know he will...perhaps this weekend. How great is it that your husband is taking notice! I bet it made you feel really, really good. Hope the twins are great, and that you're doing fine....pm me, talk soon.
  11. Hello Tiff,

I'm new, just sleeved on 15th of July by the wonderful Dr. Aceves. I love reading your posts! You're a no nonsense kind of gal, and I love it! I would love to see your photo album, but the link seems to be broken. I've reported in a few weeks ago, but it still is not working, so I thought I would drop you a line.

You're a great inspiration to me, and I feel so fortunate to have you on the board! You have a respectful wealth of information, and I love that you are always willing to share it with us newbies. Thanks so much :-)

    What Size Should I/He Buy?

Thanks Meriteri, I'm a really lucky girl! I know it...
  18. Also, keep in mind that different surgeons use different methods...that is, some use glue, some over-sew ect...so there will be differerences based on that alone! I am 7 days post op, and Dr. Aceves has me on clears until 10 days post op. I'm sick of clears, but will hold the line...due to Dr. orders.
  19. **LaSaJaTa**

    heeelp!!

Nurse, hope you're doing better now!! I too was sleeved by the fantastic, wonderful Dr Aceves, and am 7 days post op as of today, but I have no hunger at all...weird eh? As they say, we're all different....
  20. Mary, awemsome idea!!! Thanks so much!!!!

    July 2010's NEW losers!

Donna, I was very pleased (albeit surprised) to see your loss too! Although you do have a higher BMI than me, and I understand that those with a higher BMI will loose faster! Good for you! Don't fret, It's all true, and oh, so great!! Cheri, I am glad to hear you're getting lot's of sleep! Even if it's on the couch! Funny think you mention about all the liquids....I'm tired of "drinking" from a cup all the time, so last night, I put my broth in a bowl, and used a spoon. Mentally, it made a big difference, seemed more like a meal :-) Donna, I too am worried that I can drink so much liquid. I can drink faster than the recommended 2 oz per 15 minutes....and I'm not sure if I should be worried, slow down or just keep going. As an example, I can drink 1 cup of my protien shake in about 30 minutes.....how about others? How long is it taking everyone to drink 1 cup of protien shake?

    Laying on stomach?

Finally, 6 days post op, last night, I slept on my tummy!!

    Swimming

I have a drain hole, which is not stitched. I was told it heals from the inside out...and that I could not bathe, or swim until that incision was completely healed.

    July 2010's NEW losers!

Hi All, Nurse, I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing these headaches too! Mine seem to come and go...and I'm thinking that once we move to mushies, the headache will go away (hoping). Cheri, nice to hear from you! I'm doing great! Slept on my tummy last night, no pain, and only 6 days post op! I feel fortunate that I seem to be healing so well, and am getting my protien and liquids in, no problem! I hope everyone else is doing great!

    July 2010's NEW losers!

Hi Everyone, Well, I've moved over from the PRE Op board, to this POST Op board for July sleevers. I was sleeved by Dr Aceves in Mexicali on th 15th of July, so 4 days ago now!! So far, everything is great, except for one small incident on day 2 at the hospital after I drank some apple juice. Was feeling restricted, and had a bad taste comming up from my stomach. As usual, the staff responded quickly and gave me a very thick liquid that calmed everthing down instantly, problem solved. Since then, I've been drinking lots of Water, home made chicken broth, isopure and herbal teas. I've not yet had a protien supplement, but will try one tomorrow. (Other than then Isopure). I seem to be able to drink fairly large amounts of liquid, without a problem. I am sipping, but after reviewing Dr Aceves POST op liquid diet outline, I'm thinking I'm not drinking slow enough....for example, was able to drink about 6 oz of homemade chicken broth in about 20 minutes. No pain...no restrictions. Is that bad? Also, seem to be experiencing low grade headache...nothing major, just a light "pain", like as if I'm crashing from sugar...anyone else experience this in the first few days post op? Also, just wanted to give a shout out to CLK. Cheri, hope you made it home okay...let me know once you're safe and settled....
