  1. im 14 months post op......and I have no issues. I've found it quite easy to addapt to this new life style, although I still avoid that "I can eat anything", im still trying to stick to what ive learned is good for me to eat, and avoid the crap food. My goal is still to try to get in my 60 to 80 grams of Protein per day. when I go to a reasturant, I split a meal w/ hubby, no questions ever get asked.......If I get a meal by myself, i've only had this happen 1 time where they thought i didnt like it, all you have to do is reassure them it was great, tell them you ate as much as you could. don't feel like u need to explain anything more, its none of their business....lol on a scale of 1 to 10.....its a 8....real easy..... I was embarrassed to be out in public when i was heavy, now, i hold my head up high!

No Drinking With Food .... Why?

I have been drinking my Water with my meals since I had my surgery in May 2011. I've had no problems. My dr said it was fine as long as I still got in my daily Protein. It worked for me!

He loves it when people tell him how great i look, he tell's me that he's so proud of me for acheiving my goal. No issues here! He's never had a weight problem.........

    Before And After Pic's

My Dr, gave me a binder full of info such as: Pre surgery instruction surgery and discharge phase 1, liquid Protein phase 2, soft food diet eating methods and Fluid intake activity and behavior modification general guidelines & support groups follow up This binder has been my bible throughout my journey. My eating plan outlined in my binder talked about what I should be eating at what stage i was at, and what foods are "allowed" and what foods to "avoid" there was also a very helpful page on foods that are a "good source of protein" (very helpful) along with many helpful hints through out...... I guess I assume that everyones Dr gives out this info for all their patients, but sounds like some leave you to figure it out for yourselfs. Best of luck to everyone, nice to know I have inspired several of you.

    Before And After Pic's

To D1NOnlySexyLady, i've lost 79 lbs to date......goal was 70 lbs. Yes, I do workout, it will Totally help with that excess skin! I do have a small amount of excess, not noticable to anyone but me, This was not easy to do, you must follow the eating plan set forth by your Dr. and follow it if you really want success. Even now, after i'm at goal, I still eat the same as I have for the last 10 months, and planning on it for life. I still stay away from all breads, pastas, candy, chips, junk food. I make healthy choices now, even tho I might prefer something different. Good luck if you decide to have this surgery, remember, it's a new way of life, not just till u reach goal. bad habbits must go away and never return. Thanks for all the kind words, I feel 10 years younger!

    Cold Shivers

Same here, 10 months out and cold most all the time. i'm hoping summer will be here soon. I think being cold is something we just have to live with, not sure it's ever gonna go away. My car heater is set to 80 all the time...hands still cold, rings slide around my fingers, bugs me...lol Thank god for my hot flashes at times...lol every little bit of warmth helps....lol

    1) Gum Chewing And 2) Straws

i was told, sugar free gum only, and do not swollow it! I was also told, no straw's, as it causes air in the tummy. I'm 10 months out, and have been drinking from a straw for many months. I have no discomfort from it, and maybe a little extra gas, but it's managable. If I didn't use a straw, I'd never be able to drink all the Water i need. I DO carry a water bottle w/ me 24/7 tho...lol

    Mantaining

I've only been at goal for 3 months, so it's all still new to me. I talk to my Dr quite a bit about some of the questions I have, and this was one of them. I was told: even though you have reached goal, you still need to maintain a high Protein diet (for the rest of my life) and drink the Water (64 oz at least) for the rest of my life. Still no snacking or nibbling between meals. Was also told to weigh my self daily, so If I see a weight gain, I can get it back in controll before it gets out of hand. (I was really hoping he would tell me, now that you have reached goal, eat what you want' just in smaller quanities...lol..nope!...grrrr) So, basically, nothing's changed for me. I'm eating this way for life, staying away from all the foods that have no protein value.

    Trying To Keep Positive

Well, unfortuantly, this is a problem with many ppl who have lost a vast amount of weight, there are variables in how much your skin will go back to normal, age can play a factor, how long you've been overweight?, and how much weight you have lost. Althought excersize is awesome for you, and keep doing it, you need excersize to keep your bones strong as you lose the fat that's supporting your bones now. Sometimes the only alternative may be surgery to get rid of the excess skin. All depends on how you feel about it, and if you're embarrassed by the excess skin to a point of not wanting to expose those area's that are now sagging. I know surgery can be expensive.......and that's a choice only you can make...... my opinion, If I've done all I can do via excersize, and it's just not working....I'd go the extra $$ to give me the complete look I'm trying to acheive, and to feel confident in my looks when I m out in public. besides.....YOU DESERVE IT! YOU HAVE WORKED HARD FOR THIS!

Vitamin Question - Need Help Please

Good question..... Here is the list of what I should be taking daily from the Dr. multi Vitamins -chewable (2 per day) calcium citrate w/ vit D (1500 mg per day) B-12 sublingual (2 x week, goes under tongue) Vitamin D 1000u Vitamin C 1000mg flaxseed oil 2000 mg gel selenium 200 mg be sure to look at the lables, sometimes you may need to take 2 or 3 to reach the required dosage per day.
  20. I think u need to look at what u r eating........u may need to go back to all liquid Protein for about 3-4 days to jump start ur weight loss again. If you're eating what u are supposed to be eating, I'm not sure how a person can actually gain weight. I've seen some posts here where some ppl say, I'm eating anything i want, just in smaller portions now.....I'm not so sure that's gonna help them to lose weight, your body still needs 70-90 grams of protein per day, and at least 80 ounces of Water. That's hard to do daily with the small amount of food our stomach's will hold, so I can't see how eating anything will help to lose weight. The more protein you consume, the more weight you will lose, so, don't waste your time eating foods that don't help you in your weight loss goal. Make wise choices........ If your snacking, stop! eat at only the times you were instructed to by your Dr..... Get out your instructions you got from your Dr. on what you can and can't eat, go back to the basic's......it's not too late......never too late, just have to get back on track good luck
  21. Well, i can tell you.....I'm there, the most favorite thing i have bought myself are 5 pr of those oh, so cute BLING BLING jeans, with the white stitching and jewels over all the pockets, even on the front!....lol My 2 favorite colors are pink and shinny! Keep up the awesome work on your diets, and soon you will be wearing some cute clothes also. It's so worth it...... I have spoiled myself rotten and bought tons of really cute summer clothes, now if summer would hurry up and get here....
  22. Yes, most soups are high in carbs and way too high in sodium...= not great for losing weight By book says to stay aaway from all chowder soups, potato soups, noodle soups.(cream soups) Good Luck
  23. I have no tips on cream soups as I was told to stay away from cream soups. I don't think you are going to find any that have much Protein in them, that is what you need to sustain you. day 6,I was still on full liquids, drinking mostly nasty tasting protein beverages....lol. seems like those 4 weeks of liquids lasted 6 months....I drank alot of muscle milk shakes, those have 20grams in each 8 oz container, if you can tolorate them, it's great source of protein. I loved them, still drink one every day. Best of luck
  24. here are some of the foods I eat daily, not all of this in a day though....lol Breakfast type items: greek yogurt (dannon oikos brand) only one I found that I actually liked. eggs kashi go lean Cereal cottage cheese Protein shakes muscle milk lunch type tems: deli sliced lunch meat, mostly chicken or turkey chicken breast tuna (home canned) cottage cheese chili chicken type Soups (nothing creamy tho) left overs from a previous dinner celery stick w/ Peanut Butter Protein Bar Protein Drink Dinner Type Items: Chicken Salmon Turkey breast shrimp lean red meats vineson burger (lean) broccoli carrots corn (home canned, no sugar) potatoes....only about once a week, maybe once every 2 weeks fruit occasionally... we go out to dinner about once a week, I always pick the entre, and hubby and I split, I eat about 15% he eats about 85% of the meal. Snack type foods: String cheese cottage cheese babybell cheese wasa cracker w/ peanut butter rice crackers w/ cheese and a red pepper jelly on top ...mmmmmm nuts celery w/ peanut butter apple slices w/ peanut butter protein bar Plenty of Water......I get around 100 oz per day, often more. i have to use the little crystal light on the go packets to flavor my water, or i'd never be able to drink this much daily. this has been my diet for the last 9 months, there are many choices, so I'm not eating the same things over and over and getting bored with food. As you can see, i'm not eating things that are not good for me, and the amount of food I'm able to eat is small. I'm staying away from all creamy foods, Pasta, breads, soda, sugar, etc. if I start eating those items again, i'm afraid the weight will slowly creep back on. I hope this helps those of you who were inquiring as to what i eat daily. this has worked great for me, i hope it works for you.
