I never had any health issues before surgery except for being overweight. Since surgery, I had kidney stones, acid reflux and Constipation. I have to drink these shakes that are driving me up the wall and my hair has not only changed its texture but falling so much it’s scary. I had to go from long hair to an absolutely short hair cut to try to cut off the dried ends, but you know what? I would do this again in a heartbeat, not once have I regretted my decision and I am so thankful I had this opportunity and this option. Yes, I did diet and exercise before surgery, heck, one time I had a personal trainer train me 5 days a week for 2 hours and I lost 25 lbs and you all know how that turned out. Over $1,400.00 down the drain and the weight loss came back on and then some.
The energy I have now is incredible, the love of live I feel every day, I am running, really me? Running 3 miles 3 times a week, doing Zumba classes 3 times a week. I love shopping for size 8 instead of size 18-20. I feel stronger and happier than ever before, I can keep up with my kids, husband, work and housework. Yes, we all go through inconveniences when we have such a drastic surgery and the thought of the surgery being irreversible is a scary but the way I see it is: this is my second chance and nothing will stop me now.
This has been a blessing, with all its inconveniences a blessing it has been. Happy weight loss everyone!!!

I am 9 months out and need 5 pounds to reach my goal, I am so exited about that, but I started training for a marathon a few months ago and noticed that every time I would train or exercise I would gain muscle therefore weight and I hated to see my scale move the wrong way, so I decided to reach my goal and then start exercising as part of my maintenance. I do go to Zumba class twice a week but I already know those days the scale will not move.

Good Morning everyone, I have a question I am stuck and don't know what to do. My husband went to see the Doctor, he claims my husband is a perfect candidate for the sleeve; He has a BMI of 42, High Blood Pressure, sleep Apnea, and everything else that comes with it. The Insurance rep at the doctor's office looked over his chart and said that even though he has 4 years of a BMI over 40, UHC requires his BMI to be over 40 for 5 years therefore UHC would deny him. She is refusing to send UHC his information and request for surgery saying he has to wait until next year.
So this is my question, can we send his file to UHC and try to get approved on our own, or should I just wait until October for my open enrollment at work and change insurance companies over to Aetna who only requires 2 years of an BMI over 40?
Thank you for your help.

I found this website that has the podcasts with the music for training. It's great because it times the warm up, the jogging part, walking part and cool down. I downloaded into my ipod and love it. The music is pretty cool too. Just wanted to share.

My doctor said no bathing in a tub for the first 4 weeks and no swimming for 3-4 months.

I've got a consult the first part of June with Dr. Michael A. Bogdan in Southlake. He charges $50 for a consult, just to keep people from making appts. and not showing up. I'll report back after I see him. He does a lot of work with post-WLS patients and also has an office somewhere in Dallas.
TexasT, does he put the girls back to their original positions too?

I was sleeved by Dr. Kim on 01/17/11, he was great and his staff was great too. I have recomended a few friends to Dr. Kim and even my husband. If I had to do this process over again I would go with Dr. Kim again. I felt very safe, he also took every precaution necessary. I have lost 54LBS so far. I have had to call the office afterhours twice, and they responded promptly.
You will be in good hands.
Good Luck.

Don't worry, everything does go back to normal. I was sleeved on 01/17/11, I couldn't even drink my pain meds right after surgery because the smell would make me puke. Just drink your liquids and know that everything will go back to normal. HAve a very merry Christmas!!!
