  1. Here's the link I posted of foods high in PROTEIN. However, you still need to keep in mind to check their other values...calories, fat, carbs, etc...to make sure you don't exceed your daily limits. Protein food

    Consistant weekly weight loss

No!! I have lost 38 lbs since pre-op diet...so we're talking over 10 weeks. But the majority was in the beginning. I hit a stall at 3 wks out that lasted for 2-3 wks. Been losing very slowly since then. Concerns me, but what do you do? It's a struggle trying to keep tricking the body out of starvation mode. Up limits...lower limits. I do have to say I haven't gotten in a lot of exercise, so that could help, if only I could get myself motivated to do it. Exercise has always been a challenge for me. I soooo don't like it. I wish I was one who enjoyed it.
  3. Ahh...thanks "sleeve for me!" And just look at YOU!! I only hope I can do so well!

    What all do you track?

Lol...well I must be as well. If I would have looked closer I would have seen it in your signature. Sorry... I'm a DORK!
  6. Might be tummy acid you're feeling. Has your doc prescribed you a PPI...Pepcid, etc...yet? It does help. Sometimes we confuse acid with hunger. And thinking back, maybe it had a lot to do with my over eating pre-op.

    Diet

I understand it can be tough in the beginning with food tolerances and all, but I personally would stay to the doc's plan. 1) Because he knows what my body and new sleeve can handle, and 2) Because I didn't go through all this to sabotage myself, and 3) Because we have a certain window of opportunity to lose more weight in the beginning than in the end. I know for me, I got to where I was because I fell short in the discipline and self-control department. If I, personally, chose the route you are suggesting, I would only be dieting still and not making a life-style change. I know it would be so very easy for me to cheat the sleeve and do whatever I wanted to. But, I would only be happy in the moment and not the long run. I HAVE TO CHANGE MY THINKING, there is NO other choice for me.

    Food Quantity??

I think there are several factors in play for each one of us...how long our stomach is (some are longer than others naturally), swelling goes down, bougie size used, etc... I am 2 month's out and can eat 3-4ozs of chicken and maybe a 1/4 cup of veggies (depending on what kind they are) I only eat 3 meals a day and maybe a snack (like string cheese) on some days. Some docs tell their patients to eat only 3 meals a day and others tell their patients to eat 4-6 small meals a day. But I think in the end we are all close to getting roughly the same calories and such...on a whole that is. I could be wrong though.
  13. I am also 2 month's out tomorrow, but I am having NO issues eating any meats. You may want to stick with tuna or canned chicken for awhile longer. You may just be healing slower. Also, the tiny bite suggestion may do the trick as well. I have read in some doc's guides to cut your meat into the size of a n eraser on the end of a pencil. Sorry you're having such a hard time with meat...how are you doing on the rest of the foods you have tried?
  14. WOW!! Some of the responses are pretty harsh! I don't think Hip is asking for help or calling on support. He is just wanting to know other sleever's sleeve capacity. Hip, I too have been able to take in more than some. But, with that being said, I still stay under 800 calories, 40gms carbs, 30gms fat, and get in 60-70gms of Protein. I think it all depends on our own stomach make up. We don't all have the same exact sleeve (bougie size) and some of us have longer stomach's than others. So our sleeve holds a little more. Not that we are going over our limits, but we can probably hold 4ozs vs 2ozs that others can only hold. Which means, they are probably only getting in 400-600 calories. My doc told me 600-800 calories a day. At least 600, but not more than 800. Hope this helps. (By the way...I have 2 eggs and a piece of toast for breakfast most every mornings.)

    I broke through my plateau

Simply OUTSTANDING!!! I can hardly weight until I reach Onederland! I'll be on a permanent vacation there!! Only 15 lbs to go!! Eye on the prize, Violet!!
  16. Ok...so I've seen on occasion the mentioning of the "Grehlin Hormone Monster" taking awhile to get out of your system. Exactly how long does it take? I am 8 weeks out and it is still with me!! How many sleever's past a YEAR post-op still feel hungry?
  17. Can'tweight

    Grehlin Hormone...Really?

Crosswind...are you on a PPI? I take one Pepcid in the morning and one before going to bed. It really helps with all the rumbling. The acid in your tummy can mimic hunger feelings, I've been told. So maybe we are are confusing the two at times. I also fifight head hunger at times. But, I know I also experience true hunger pains. Just want some sleeve-vet to tell me if and when it goes away.
  18. I am so VERY disappointed in myself!! I can feel myself slipping back into BAD HABITS!! I have never had strong discipline...stating the obvious, huh? Or I wouldn't be a part of these forums, right? This week, 2 out of 7 days I allowed my calories to top out at 1100. ELEVEN HUNDRED!!!! OMG-osh!! I know what I am supposed to be doing, but when in the moment I lose control. "Just a little of this won't hurt me that much." What a weakling!! I am so ashamed of myself!! Most days, I stay under 800 calories, 50 carbs, 40 fat, and get more than 60-70gms of Protein. I do not get all the Water in though. My weight-loss is right about where everyone else is with the same surgery date and weight to lose, but if I allow myself to CHEAT, it will not remain that way! I just DO NOT understand why I have allowed this to happen this week!! After all I have went through for years and now having WLS surgery, you'd think I could control myself on these few occasions. But NO!! Weak as water, I tell you!! Weak as water!!! I so love the taste of bad foods. This has always been my problem. I've always said, "if I could just burn my taste buds off, I would be fine!!" But that ain't happening, so how can I strengthen my resolve?? I just HAVE to succeed!! Just sick about it!!

    WEAK AS WATER!!!! =(

You're too funny!! I looked at your numbers and you are doing FANTASTIC!! Bougie-is a tube they put down our throats down to our tummies to use as a guide in creating the size of our sleeve. Average size is 32-36 I believe. Tiffkins posted a pic that gives you a really good idea on the actual size. Do a search for "bougie" in the forums to check it out...pretty cool stuff. As far as hormones, sister...I'm talking about ALL our different body hormones (such as the hunger hormone). I don't have much of those girly hormones anymore either. "Kahoneys"...that cracks me up! I've joked around with my husband throughout our 18 years of marriage, like..."I have more testosterone in my little pinky then you have in your whole body!!" or "I'm surprised you can even sit in that chair without a spine!!" We gotta have a since of humor I guess to stay married to each other for so long!! You are doing great girl. Just keep doing what you're doing! Eye on the prize, Violet! Eye on the prize!

    WEAK AS WATER!!!! =(

Well...Grasshopper, could be several different reasons. I am almost a month out past you, I may have a longer stomach naturally, I have a 36 bougie, my hormone levels may be different than yours, I still have hunger (although not as strong), and dog-gone-it! I'm just better than you!! Just teasing...other than the above mentioned, I'm not sure why we all have such different experiences with the sleeve. But you will feel quite a bit different when YOU are at 8 weeks out. Promise!!
  21. Can'tweight

    Well meaning people

Congrats!! You have obviously done a fantastic job disciplining yourself! And that is a major feat in itself! WAY TO GO, girl!! I pray I can be as strong as you in following the plan. You should be VERY proud of yourself, my sister-sleever!

My surgery was 2 days ago

I know how rough it is right now, but each day IS going to get easier and easier. In the beginning it seems near impossible to consume the amounts our doc's want us to, but we have to get in as much as we can. As your swelling goes down you WILL be able to get a little more in each day. What you are experiencing is VERY normal. So don't worry...just sip, sip, sip. At two days out you need to really concentrate on your Water. My doc was not concerned so much with getting in the Protein during the first week because we should have enough in us to carry us through it. You HAVE to stay hydrated...so concentrate on sipping throughout the day. The first few weeks are the hardest, but before you know it, it will get better! Sending hugs and prayer your way. Keep us posted and get lots of rest!
