  1. Hello Everyone, It has awhile since my last post! I am currently down 126 pounds and still have another 65 pounds to go. Since my surgery, my weight loss has been good, but slowed down a little because I started incorporating more carbs into my diet. Plus, I am having gallbladder surgery on tomorrow :-( Not happy at all, but not surprised after reading it was common for people who lose large amounts of weight within a short amount of time. With that said, I have a few questions. Is it hard to lose weight after having your gallbladder removed? Are there complications? Am I more prone to dumping? Is it true that once the gallbladder has been removed I am more prone to gaining weight in my stomach? I have read a lot of different posts online regarding this procedure and very nervous about what to expect, considering I still have another 65 pounds left to lose. Anyone who has had gallbladder surgery before or after VSG, please, please, please share your experiences with weight loss etc. Thanks in advance! All the best, Lady E.

    Tacos

Hi thickphilly, Thanks for your response. I know you don't mean any harm :-) I can stomach eating the meat, its just I can't stand to eat the meat without the taco shell as of lately (the meat tastes funny to me now w/o the shell). It's kind of like how some people are with Protein shakes (myself included), you can drink them, but the taste of the shake makes you want to gag.

    6 weeks post/Need Help

Hi Cknorte, I am going to have to try some of those meatballs. I actually have been looking for frozen , but just wasn't sure what to buy. And yesss I am going to try the ricotta bake. Regarding the cauliflower pizza, I am actually the one who posted the recipe. It is soooo good :-)

Hi Oregondaisy, Thanks for you response. I will have to purchase some of this thin bread. Do you know the brand? I haven't tried the ricotta bake yet, but I am going to be trying that out soon since I have read so many great things about this dish :-)

    Favorite Transition Foods

A recipe that I discovered after I was cleared to eat regular foods was on the worldaccordingtoeggface website. However, after I made it I thought it would have been great to eat during my mushy stage. The recipe was for a crab and shrimp bake. OMG it was soooo good. My only suggestion would be if you decide to make the bake is to either avoid adding shrimp or add the shrimp and don't eat them. Also I made the mistake of not draining the tomato juice from the canned tomatoes and that made it mushy, but all in all it taste great :-) Here is the link to the recipe: http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/2008/10/crab-shrimp-bake.html

    Tacos

Hi Everyone, I am now 9 weeks post op, is it too soon for me to eat a taco from Taco Bell or make my own? As of now, I can't stomach eating taco meat by itself anymore (hopefully this will pass) :-( Thanks in advance for your suggestions/comments :-) Lady E.

Thank you soooo much for replying to my post. @cwalker- Thank you for the encouraging words and good luck with your weight loss, you don't have much left to lose I see :-) I am also going to look into getting the swiss chicken burgers they sound yummy. I also recently broke my stall and I know you will break yours too. I forced myself to drink a Protein shake for a couple of days and the next thing I know, I lost 10 pounds. @ Eureka- Thank you as well for the congrats on the weight loss and I look forward to seeing you on the losers side :-) and yesss that was one of the reasons I wanted to get the sleeve too. I still wanted to be able to eat normal food and not feel to deprived.
  15. I tried these receipes this past weekend and they were yummy to my tummy. Great alternative from eating regular pizza. Cauliflower Pizza 1 cup cooked or uncooked, riced cauliflower* 1 egg 1 cup mozzarella cheese 1/2 tsp fennel 1 tsp oregano 2 tsp parsley Preheat oven to 450 degrees Farenheit. Spray a cookie sheet with non-stick spray. In a medium bowl, combine cauliflower, egg and mozzarella. Press evenly on the pan. Sprinkle evenly with fennel, oregano and parsley. Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes (15-20 minutes if you double the recipe). Remove the pan from the oven. To the crust, add sauce, then toppings and cheese. For the sauce I used Great Value Pizza Sauce it has 4 carbs per 1/4 cup, the toppings I used were turkey pepperoni and low fat mozzarella cheese, but of course feel free to use any healthy toppings you like :-) Here is the link to the receipe if you want to see pictures (when I first made it, I found it hard to believe that this pizza crust was made from cauliflower because it looked like the real thing): http://www.examiner.com/low-carb-in-national/cauliflower-pizza-crust-worth-its-wow-gold Pizza Crackers I doubt if this receipe is new to anyone on here, but I thought it was another great alternative for pizza. Please check with your surgeon or nut first to make sure you are cleared to eat crackers (please eat in moderation). 3-5 Saltine multi wheat crackers (10 carbs for 5 crackers) or whichever crackers you prefer Top with pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese and turkey pepperoni (or other toppings to your liking) Place either in the microwave for 10 seconds or until cheese is melted, or in the oven on broil for 5-10 min This snack is soooo good and a another great alternative for pizza. Plus it's a good meal to eat on the go.
