  1. Hey All, 6 days ago I had the gastric sleeve surgery. Starting on day 2, I had sporadic diarrhea and fatigue. Then beginning yesterday afternoon and continuing into today, I have been having explosive diarrhea, along with feeling so very weak, I can't do anything but sleep. I started researching the web a couple of hours ago, and found out about "dumping syndrome." It certainly sounds like me! However, everything talks about eating "too much" and sweets and fatty foods. Well, I am having the opposite issue.... I am not able eat much of anything. I'm even having trouble getting down enough fluids to keep from dehydration! The common denominator in all I have eaten (hospital and home) is "chicken and beef broth." I've noticed that they always seem to be "salty". Does anyone know if dumping syndrome can be brought on by broth? If so, then what can I "eat" at this stage of my process? Thanks a bunch! Tina
  2. YEA! One more obstacle overcome! Today my husband brought home the money needed for my surgery and trip. I was getting worried that the financing was not going to come through; I thought I might have to cancel my surgery appointment. I just told God, "If this is Your Will and You want me to have this surgery, then please make the money come through!" Praise God, the next day Hubby brings home the check! !
  3. Tami, is your health insurance covering your surgery? Mine won't cover WLS; so I can't afford the surgery here in the states. I am having my surgery in Mexico. Do you know of any WLS support groups in the DFW area? There are none here in Waco. The websites are wonderful; I learn a lot from them and I get a lot of encouragement from them; however, I would love it if I could meet people face-to-face in a support group.
  4. Tami, you and I are both having our sleeves on December 16th! Where are you located? Did I interpret the previous post correctly that both you and Ken are in Ft. Worth? I'm in Waco. Where are you having you surgery done?
  5. Welcome, sleeve4ever! I, too, am having my sleeve surgery on December 16th. Dr. Almanza is doing mine. I'm told to do my liquid diet for 5 days; however, others who have had the same doctor are told 1 week - 2 weeks. I think it all depends on your BMI. I'm just glad mine isn't as long as I thought it would be! Good luck and keep us posted on how you do!
  6. Hi There! I just joined the group. I am scheduled to have my sleeve surgery done at Jeruselem Hospital by Dr. Almanza on December 16, 2013.
  7. Hello Everyone. I'm new to this site and am very eager to learn from you all the pros and cons of the lap band surgery. I am seriously considering this procedure, due to both my doctor and my insurance health coach advising me to do it. I need to lose about 100 pounds; and no matter what else I've tried, it seems impossible. I am experiencing a laundry list of various health problems; and my insurance coach seems to think most all of the problems can be resolved if I just get the weight off. The thought of having this surgery done is very frightening. Therefore, I am wanting to learn everything I can prior to having it done (if I do). I thank you guys ahead of time for any help you can give me.
