    Do any of you eat like this?

    And, I am like Dawn (and others). I don't only eat heathly things. Its about moderation. I still have to live life. I, too, went to mcd's the other day and had a small burger. Preband it would have been AT LEAST 2 burgers, lg fry and a lg soda. Now it's only 1 small burger. And i track what I eat. If i ate a burger yesterday I wont eat one today.

    Do any of you eat like this?

    Here's what I do....My goal is AT LEAST 60 g Protein a day, I usually get about 80 but my dr wants me to get 60. That was the only nutrition "rule" my dr and nut have --ya gotta get the protein in. I have taken it upon myself to limiy my carbs to less than 50 per day and eat less than 1200 cal per day. I am usually under 1000 during the week. I track everything in my fitness pal which I love. This seems to be working. I have lost 50 pounds as of yesterday. I'm happy, drs happy. J Banded 9/22

    First 4 Months After Being Lap Banded

    As of the beginning of sept i have lost 51 pounds. I need to update my ticker!!!
  4. I get grossed out by the size bites people take....mainly my dh. What he eats in 2 bites is my whole meal.
  5. Banded 9/22. Weighed 230 at my heighest. 183 now. Up til this point this has been, for lack of a better word -- easy. The weight has fallen off. I declined a fil oct 31 bc I wasnt hungry, could stay full on half a cup. About a week later my hunger started creeping up. Nov has been a struggle. I'm hungrier. I haven't always made the best choices --i will admit that. I think part of it is b/c when my hunger hits, it hits hard, and I eat anything even if it's not a good choice. I remember being so confident in october. I was so naive to think it would have stayed that easy. Right after surgery when others were talking about hunger and bandster hell...i had none of that. How stupid of me to think that would last forever. I have an appt mon and will be getting a fill. I am curious if others are in the same boat as I am.
  6. OP, maybe its from the barium swallow?? I have done 2 and what you describe sounds like my first BM after I did the barium swallow. J
  7. I need help with lunch ideas. I was banded 9/22 and this is my first week on regular foods. I am having a hard time finding a decent lunch. I have had chicken salad all week with 1/2 hard boiled egg white. Blah. Im bored with that. I am afraid to do left over dinner bc the micro will dry it out. I can get chicken breast down for dinner but chew it to mush. I dont know if i could tolerate the dryness. I can still only eat between 1/4 to 1/2 c then i am full. I am trying to stay low carb. Anyone got any low carb high Protein lunch ideas? Im tired of the same stuff. J Banded 9/22
  8. Jenny, i am right there with you. October I lost 10 pounds, declined my fill on oct 31, and now I need it. Nov has been difficult. I think I've lost 3 pounds, it keeps going up one, down 2, up 2, down 4. I can eat waaaaaay too much. I will be getting my first fil dec 5th. We CAN do this! J
  9. My only surgeries have been 2 csections and lapband. My first csection was horrid. My second was ok. The lapband surgery was different. I wouldnt say worse, or better. Its hard to compare the 2 bc with lb theres no newborn to take care of. Lol. The most pain part of lb surgery for me was the gas.
  10. My dr recommended 60 oz Protein and 64 oz Water daily. The liquid in the shakes counted towards my water. You should focus on healing right now. Follow your drs orders and you'll be fine. Calories are not of a concern right now bc your focus is healing, not weight loss. J Banded 9/22
  11. Ugh. I am so frustrated. Banded 9/22. Starting weight 230. Today 189. I got down to 186 but the darn scale is going into the opposite direction! I have not had a fill. Last month I lost 10 pounds and declined a fill. I go back in dec 5th and if this continues i know dr will want to give me a fill. I dont know if i need one though. Honestly, i havent been making the best food choices -- too many carbs, ritz crackers, chips. A fill is not gonna fix this. I can still only eat a small amount 1/2 c. But i have gotten lax about measuring and 1/2 c will keep me full for 4-5 hours. I am just totally frustrated yet i feel like im not giving it 100%. Maybe 90. So far this has been easy. Honestly. But this month (nov) has been though. Thanks for letting me vent.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

    Well i am no longer 186. Weighed in this morning and was 188. Ummmmmm wrong direction! Had chinese for lunch yesterday and mexican for dinner so hopefully some of that is salt. I want to be 180 by my next ck up which is dec 5th. I am gonna amp up the exercise this week and see what happens.

    Sept 2011 bandsters

    Ugh. Frustrated. I have been hovering around 186.6 to 186.8 for the past couple of weeks. I kicked up the walking last week and on friday when i weighed it was 186.0. Yesssss!!! Or so i thought. Last night i ate chips and queso and it had sausage in it. This morning i decided to weigh myself. 186.6. I dunno if it was from the salt in the chips or sausage. But ugh! So now I am cranky! And I am constipated (tmi, i know but its adding to my crankiness). AND that one incision is still goopy and unhealed. Seriously. Surgery was 9/22 and i still have a freaken open wound??!! Just when it starts to get better it looks worse. Its right at my pant line so sitting rubs it. Its also on my left side and i sleep on my left side so i dont think thats helping. A nurse friend of mine told me not to get it wet bc it seems like when the scab is soft from the water it busts open. I have been covering it when i shower but i cant keep it covered 24 hrs bc then it doesnt scab up. Ugh. At least it isnt my port incision. I ate pizza friday night....just remembered that. And then i wonder why i gained .8 in 2 days. Lol. 1 slice and it went down ok as long as i chewed like crazy. No way would it have gone down if I'd had a fill. My goal is also 50#s by christmas which i think is reasonable. My long term goal at this point is around 150. That is what i got down to after my first baby (granted i was 21). I looked in my medical records to see what i weighed then and it varied between 150-160. I pulled out some pictures to see how i looked and man, i was hot. Lol. Hope everyone has a good week!     May Not Need a Fill?

    I was/am exactly like you. Banded 9/22 and have felt full since the beginning. I was 230 at my preop appt. Today i am 186. Never had bandster hell, rarely get hungry. I have not had a fill. Next follow up is dec 5 and at this point wont getting a fill then either. J
  15. Sounds like you ate too much. Its my understanding when you are stuck you slime and pb. I think i got stuck on a carrot. Lots of sliming and when i stood up and walked for a few minutes i felt a little better. No pbing for me tho.

    Well, I am happy to say ---- I am over halfway to goal. I have 80 to lose and today I weighed in and I have lost 41 pounds. Soooooo happy! This just motivates me to stay strong for the holidays! J
  17. Is anyone else rewarding themselves when they reach goal? I am going on a cruise!!! As if the reward of a new healthier me isnt enough....a new healthy me sitting on a ship in the carribbean is even better!!! What's waiting for you when you reach goal? J

    Sept 2011 bandsters

    I could eat raw veggies as of 4 wks post op. My list from dr specifically said raw veggies were ok. I've had tomatoes, lettuce and carrots. Slimed on a carrot but the lettuce and tomatoes went down fine. In case you haven't heard.....the McRib is back at McDonalds!!!! Lol. I love love love me a mcrib. Fake meat, yes i know. Everytime the mcrib comes back i run, not walk, to mcd's. Well this time i said nope, not going to. Well the other day i got to thinking, this is about life. I didnt get banded so i could l live on yet another diet. I got banded so i could live life while getting healthy. I looked up the mcrib on my fitness pal and planned it into my day (this was last week sometime). I ate half of it. No supersize fries and drink like my prebanding days. I ate slow and savored it. Funny, that mcrib was sooooo good even though i've haf one a million times. But this time, i didnt feel guilty afterwards bc i was "cheating" on a diet. Bc i wasnt cheating, i was just being normal. Yes, i know a mcrib is not the healthiest choice but it felt good to enjoy it minus the guilt. Oh, and i still lost when i got on the scale. J Banded 9/22

    Sept 2011 bandsters

    Had a dr app yesterday. The dr kinda annoyed me. I lost 10 pounds the month of oct (according to drs scale). I already told the nurse i am full at 1/2 cup and not snacking. He walks in and asks how i am. I reply with good and then he says lets fill you up. Ummmmm nooooo i tell him. I tell him i am still full on a small amt, stay full for hrs and dont snack. THEN he looks to see how much weight i lost. I dunno i was just annoyed with him. One of my incisions (small one) is oozing thick green goopy gunk. He insists its not infected, just healing slowly. I trusted this man to cut me open and put a foreign object in me, you'd think i would trust his opinion on an infection. Whatever. I will keep my eye on it and if its not better in a week i will call his office. On a happy note NONE of my preband dress slacks fit me anymore. 2 pairs of jeAns i still wear but they are way too big. I went thru the closet this weekend and all the big stuff is outta there!! I am sticking to the rules and pluggin away. Gettin skinney!! J banded 9/22

    DRCS -- i got semistuck on a raw carrot. I have no fill. I say semi stuck bc i slimed a few times, stood up and walked around and it went down. There was no pbing. I am scheduled for a fill 10/31 but at the point i will not be getting one. I feel some restriction, can stay full for 4-5 hrs on half c of food and im loosing consistently. My carrot episode really reminded me to chew chew chew lol. J
  21. Some other Protein that comes to mind....canned chicken breast to make chick salad, canned turkey chili, hard boiled eggs. Eggsland best makes a bag of eggs that are already hard boiled. Breakstone 2% cottage cheese containers which are 4 oz each and i think they have 11 g protein, nut butters, hummus, greek yogurts. I know yoi said you dont lime protein powders buy body fortress (at walmart) is good. Mix with milk in thr shaker bottle and it tastes like choc milk. J

    Sept 2011 bandsters

    Ugh. I feel so blaaaaa today. I was telling DH last night that I felt blah. I think it's bc I have been eating more carbs. Fri night had mexican with chips, sat am had 1/2 of an english muffin, sun am had potatoes and 2 bites of flour tortilla, sun pm had this rice potato and meat dish. I didnt measure my food yesterday but didnt feel i over ate portions just made bad choices. I did log anything on myfitnesspal. Stepped on the scale today and Im up 1/2 pound in 2 days. I know its only 1/2 pound and I am not really stressin it but i am more bummed about the way i physically feel. I have a headache and body aches. I got my flu shot friday so i dunno if thats why i feel icky or what. And today i have a super important meeting at work with a client and it will last several hours and include lunch. Oh joy. I hope this feeling passes. Hope all my fellow sept bandsters have a fabulous week!! J Banded 9/22

    Eating Samples!

    I am one month post op. Bfast on the weekdays is a Protein shake made with FF milk. Weekend bfast is usuallu scrambled eggs. lunch is usually tuna salad, chicken salad or egg salad with a veggie on the side. dinner is usually baked chicken or fish with a veggie on the side. If I do something with ground meat for the family, say spaghetti or slopy joes i take out my meat and eat it plain. If i get hungry between meals, which is extremely rare that I do i will have cottage cheese, greek yogurt, 1/2 cheese stick. I am starting to explore my food options since I havent been eating "real" food for too long. J

  25. As a family we usually go out to eat every weekend for some meal. I told my DH before that I didnt think I could handle going out to eat til I was maybe 1 mo post op. According to my drs timeline I would have been on solids at this time. We ended up going out wk 3 at my suggestion. I looked at the menu online, selected Soup, logged it into my fitnesspal and enjoyed myself. You are healing. You need to follow your drs orders. If you cant go some where and watch people eat this soon then dont go. And lets face it-no one wants to order Water and watch ppl eat--that sucks, I get that. I always find when i go out to eat i have a plan beforehand. It helps me make better choices. You certainly could have made a better choice than a roll and fried tenders, but your band is probably fine. If you are uncertain ck with your dr. Just pick yourself up and follow your drs plan.
