  2. Having surgery soon...wondering what medication do you use for migraines after surgery ? I used to get them monthly and lately they have been less frequent but just want to be prepared. I have been taking 800 mg of Ibprofen so I know that is not an option. thanks...

  5. Thank you Sahsa, I am so glad that you are doing so well. I am putting all my faith in God because otherwise I would worry myself into a tail spin. I trust that He will see me through this process and use all things to glorify Him. Blessings to you on your recovery and success on your journey. Annette

    Psych Eval

I was "approved" before my psych eval or any other work ups but was not allowed to have a surgery date until all tests were done and I lost 10% of excessive weight. Now I just have to keep off the weight and wait for December 6th.

  9. Hey guys, I was wondering if you could tell me how you felt 3 weeks post op? What activities where you able to do? I will have surgery on 6Dec and I have 6 family members joining our family of 5 for Christmas and staying for 10 days. Not too worried about entertaining them, just wondering what I can expect. PS I have NEVER had surgery before. Thank you for your help
  10. I know exactly how you feel. My surgery is scheduled for December 6. Some days I am so excited and know it is the right thing to do and other days I just think of the what ifs... I think what we feel is normal and it is kind of part of the process. I have been jumping through hoops to get wls surgery since May. And toying with the idea since 2006. I have just completed all my requirments and hit my pre-surgery weight goal (set by doc) two weeks ago and now I just have to keep that weight off and wait. I have been reading over every single word of every single paper they gave me so that I will have a good idea of what to expect but since I found this site, I think there is much more useful infor here. I love that you can ask a question and get several different opinions or experiences to answer. Everyone is so helpful. I hope everything goes well for you..keep me posted...I'll be right behind you.

what is the secret to success after surgery?

I want to weigh every day now because I am required to lose 10% of excess weight prior to surgery. That was not the problem. But I also have to keep it off. (that is where I worry, have not done well with that in the past). I can not wait for the day when I dont need to look to the scale to see if I have been succesful with losing weight and keeping it off.

what is the secret to success after surgery?

I think that is going to be one of my new favorite sayings...it is not a diet-this is a journey to a new health. The thing I dont get is that it seems like everyone has a different plan...so sticking to "the plan" is confusing to me. Maybe after surgery (DEC 6) I will get it. Thanks for all your advice.

what is the secret to success after surgery?

THANK YOU! I needed to be reminded that the fact that the weight will be gone forever is the goal....NOT the speed. I guess I am a little worried (were you) that I will have the surgery and not lose weight. I am more worried about that then the surgery itself. Thank you for the tips! I sat through two long days of Nut classes and I learned more with your feedback. I look forward to having surgery on 6 December and using all of your help to lose 70-80lbs and living a long healthy life with out health issues related to obesity.

    Pregnant During VSG surgery/??

Oh my! That is one crazy story. I would think your doctor is going to write an article for a medical journal about you and your little baby. Can't wait to hear how things go over the next in a little over 7 months from now (and see a picture). Good Luck to your family. By the way is this your first?fv

  19. By the time you read this...congratulations. I am sure you did great. Can't wait to read about your experiences. I am scheduled for 6 December. Also a bit afraid of the pain. Never had surgery before and I have only been put under for a short time. Let me know how the pain was.

    Any December Sleevers?

I just found out I will have surgery on 6 December. It is nice to see others will have it just a few days away. Maybe we can keep each other company on our road to a new life. At first I was a little apprehensive about having the surgery right before Christmas. I was hoping for the week of Thanksgiving, so that I would be in better shape come Christmas. My pre-op is the 18 November and that is the soonest they could schedule the surgery. I have jumped through ever hoop and hurdle they have given me. It has been a long journey but I can see an end in sight. (I am sure most of you feel the same way) Christmas is the most important holiday to me and I decided that with all my family coming here (Southern California) it may be better for me to be on liquids. I won’t be tempted to try mushy foods that are not good for me. I am looking forward to enjoying the season without centering everything I do on food. I may even enjoy the holiday more. I will be praying for all of you that have surgery on or around my date. Blessings

    Psychological Evaluation?

I had an evaluation done on the 6th of this month. It lasted about 35 minutes. Most of the questions the physiologist asked were about me. She asked things like…why I chose to have the surgery, why I don’t just diet, if I wanted any more kids, how my husband felt about the surgery, how the rest of my family felt, if anyone else suffered from obesity in my family, who would care for my kids during the hospital stay and until I could lift my 1year old. She asked me if I ever suffered from depression and what stressors I have in my life right now. That is about it. I was nervous but just tried to answer the questions honestly. It will be over before you know it! Hope that helps…
