Hello all, just thought I would say a quick Hi. I am ok, not great but ok... still a lot of things going on and I'll be perfectly honest, I am struggling through taking each day at a time. Not doing great on the food front either, haven't fasted properly for many weeks and this has lead to the weight I lost coming back... of course this doesn't help any sort of positive mind set that I am trying to adopt.
But I will keep chugging along...
Hope you are all ok x

Hello all... been reading but not posting over the last week... I have just felt really poorly and not really with it; like my head is wading through mud!
So, I thought I'd give a brief update... I am feeling better - doc signed me off work for a few weeks as I am totally exhausted. All I have been doing is eating and sleeping... not a good pattern for me. If, on the occasional day, I decide to 'do something' such as ironing or food shopping, I am totally wiped out the next day. In times of high stress it would seem that the body stops you some how. Doc said that I have gone in to self preservation mode and that I need total rest, which is what I have been doing.
On the up side it has given me time to look for and complete application forms for other jobs... there is one in particular that I am really interested in. I rang my Head and asked him what the procedure is for applying when off work, he told me to go for it and that he is backing me all the way. I have had so much crap to deal with in this current school that he totally gets why I want to leave and further my career else where... not many Heads like that in teaching these days.

It's Mothers Day today in the UK (Mothering Sunday is official name and it falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent). I told both boys not to come home as I will see them soon for the Cheltenham festival. Well they defied me one turned up last night unannounced and the other was sat at the table when we went to the restaurant today. It was a lovely surprise and I feel very loved today.

Cathy, that is Awesome! We can do this!!!
Coops, here's to a better week!
Denise and Sheryl, two words -THIN MINT! Can't have them around. Can't resist them! . But I'm into CAKE. I don't know what it is but last year or so it is a craving! Never was a bigger until now. LOL. I just don't bake and try to avoid but if I'm somewhere and there is a dessert, I will have a slice and make up cals somewhere else hopefully.
Was down another pound on Friday so that makes 18 since Jan 2. It does feel good to be productive right now. I just want to be slim and "in charge" for Spring/Summer plus at 62 I've got to fight the health things that sneak up on you like diabetes 2, blood pressure if possible. I'm convinced you can only do so much. Your genetic mapping just comes into play regardless sometimes.
    Happy Monday, All!

I agree with the sentiment about others critiquing our weight. It's like it becomes a threat to them! Lol. That the "fat girl" should EVER weigh less than them! Ha! I was discussing health and stuff with my sister. She said she was walking 2 miles a day and doing some core strengthening so I told her I was back on track with food and losing. That I had lost 17 lbs. she said,"oh, I didn't realize you could gain weight now! Your surgery made it easy for you!" Clunk!!! That's what I wanted to do to her. Haha!! EASY. Nope. Still a fight "err day!"" .
I do agree, Sheryl, once started and losing a bit it helps me realize, okay, I can do this. And I CAN still lose the weight. I let myself get freaked that i will be unable to control myself or semi-maintain.
Denise, you can too. It is hard to get back to a level of real control for me once I really start bad snacking though.
Kim, I am blown away by your nature shots!! I hope you are planning a book or something. 30# is not insurmountable!!!
Sheryl and Denise, I do agree though. I think somehow our bodies gang up on us. Like "okay, I'll let you get down to that weight but not that SIZE!" I feel and look larger in pics and clothes now than at this weight two years ago!!
Sheryl, I want to look as OLD as you!! Ha!
Coops, good for you on the bathing suit! I just do not have the muscle tone in my legs anymore. Not enough exercise. I settle for a cute pair of swim shorts and tank top usually. Even when I was large I had tight good upper legs. Now, um, age plus weight loss not pretty!

Sorry to hear about your friend Denise, tough times ahead so try to make the most of your friendship >cwtches<
Sheryl, it really winds me up when people/friends/work mates comment on weight, especially the 'oh your too small now' type comments. They didn't give a flying sh*t when I (we) we morbidly obese, and no one ever said to me, 'oh you should lose weight because you're too fat!' So, what is the difference? Hmmm, there is none.
We have to be comfortable in our own skin... be it 100lbs or 300lbs...
I have come to the conclusion that I will never be satifised with my body, but that doesn't mean I am not happy with how I feel, even if I think I could look better. When I was in Florida, I totally rocked by bathing suite (one piece) in front of 45 kids! I was in a good place mentally and felt great. At nearly 45, I feel fit and healthy and I wanted to portray that to the kids, especially the girls.
I am envious of those of you who weigh less, of course I am. I will continue to try and lose more, of course I will. However, I refuse to be told what to weigh, what to wear, and how to exercise.
We should all rock our succesess, weight related or not! Be proud ladies... we are awesome!

I'm back! And boy am I tired or what... the actual travelling is really difficult then add 45 kids... wow! But we had an amazing time...just so much to see and so much fun to have. I never aspired to visit Disney before the trip but I have to be honest it was amazing. The people that we encountered we just so helpful and happy... I felt at 'home' there. My colleagues joked that I must have 'American' blood! When I have put the photos on my computer I will post them here,
Each day was crammed with activities; we went to Nasa which was just the best experience. It was overwhelming in many ways, especially when I saw Atlantis, that was breath taking. We also went to the Hollywood Studio and Magic Kingdom theme parks as well as Blizzard Beach and the Epcot Centre. Like I said, it was a lot to do and we rushed around a lot but totally worth it.
So, it is back to normal now... back on the fast train Tue and Thurs. Oh, and I have given up meat for Lent - this is going to be a hard one.
Hope all is well with you lovely ladies,

Sheryl, glad your thigh is doing better. Glad you have vigilant Drs looking out for you.
Coops, it's a lot isn't it? Just did the whole thing ( four parks) for 10 days in January. My DIL is a Disney fanatic!!!
I've done pretty well getting back on the right track since first of year. My goal each day is 1000 cals tops. I try to do two lower cal days on Tues/Thurs of about 500-600. Hit 15 pounds last Friday so feeling better about it all.
I've looked at pics from couple years ago when we REALLY got on the 5:2 and I was at lowest and I truly looked my best and felt my best. Need to lose another 10-15 to hit that real low again.
Anybody heard from Florinda or did I miss it? Kinda worried

Hey all! Sheryl, girl!! You are one brave dude. I'm hoping that your thigh is doing better now.
And I'm hoping Coops is having warmer weather than we had. Just Got back from Disneyworld and it was rainy and COLD. had to buy extra sweats and gloves etc to stay warm. El Niño to thank for that.
Had a great time with the Son Wife and Grands, though.
Husband had neck surgery in Thursday which went well. Stayed overnight and came home Friday. No issues other than swelling in esophagus causing swallowing issues but can already move his neck better.
I've been doing sorta 5:2 because a lot of days I wind up with low calories and at least try to keep to close to 500. I've managed to lose 14 pounds since first of January which I really needed to get off. Bad eating for several months prior led to upswing in weight. I need to lose another 10-15 to be back to comfortable low goal weight.

    Hiya all,
5:2 is going really well... I messed up my fast day yesterday but stuck with it today and came in just under 500! Happy Days.
We are starting a step challenge in work on Monday, and this year I am taking part... looking forward to getting those steps in. This UP band is highly addictive! I like seeing how much I move and when I move more I want to do more... seems I am quite a visual person. I am also realising that I am quite competitive too. I didn't think I was but I do like being at the top of the leaderboard...lol
work remains rubbish, I've started to look for another job - hoping over the next couple of weeks that a decent -ish school advertises. Trying not to let it get me down though... still doing my job well in the classroom but struggling to motivate to all the stuff outside the classroom!
Nothing else to report really... hope you're all ok x

Doing well on the 5:2 done three good fasts so far next one is tomo... down a 'real' pound - only put on a few xmas pounds and they've gone too... seeing 163 now... hoping the slow but steady keeps going. Still stepping too and drinking my Water - I am sure that is helping me feel better; using MFP really helps to stop sneaky cals getting in unnoticed too!
    Hope you're all ok x

After I had my TT I lost my appetite too Sheryl, perhaps it is just a way of healing? Fluid is the most important post op and no wine is good... x

Did it! Nearly perfect but not quite, came in at 595 and I will take that. It's amazing that today I felt more in control. I actually exercised and wrote everything down on MFP. Off to bed now cos I worked a late tonight.

@@coops at some point I recognized that proper 5:2 was triggering emotional issues - anxiety. My anxiety is under such great control now on the low dosage of wellbutrin that I am a little scared to risk it. However, I have used some modified 5:2 and it is how I lost 10# and got back to goal last fall. For me, it was the whole, don't eat late, and delay Breakfast a few days a week. It's like give your system a chance to rest - those late evening Snacks are killer. My new rule is only Protein Drinks are allowed as late Snacks. I would definitely join in supporting each other,I just don't think I can follow it the way I did before.
I am 1# over goal which isnt too terrible9 days post surgery and Lipo -still some swelling. I want to get 10# under goal as I think I looked the best and a little less squishy around the mid section.
My main goal this year is fitness and reudcing body fat. I measured at 29 percent which is okay for a middle age woman, but I am fighting aging'..Haha...and being less squishy helps!!
I haven't seen Florinda post anywhere on any forums in quite awhile. Has anyone messaged her?
