Im Laura, I have been looking into Lapband surgery since 2008. I have been overweight ever since i can remember and slowly but surely my weight has increased over the years. My weight has effected my life emensley in so many ways that you all can probably relate to. so in 2008 at the age of 17 i attended a seminar in the endevor to learn further information about gastric surgery. i decided shortly after that, that gastric banding was the right option for me. After weeks of appointments i was eventually turned down for the surgery (i was devistated). I continued to see the dieticition for weeks after that but ran out of funds. September 2010 came around i was almost 19 and 10kg heavier then the previous year and i decided (despite having no money) to revisit the idea of surgery, this time i had more luck in October 2009 i was approved for lap band surgery. My challenge now was finding the funding, i tried to go through the health system but for them i was not a priority as i had no weight related health issues. So in february 2011 i thought that i would try to get a loan from the bank, i didn't expect to get anything as im a student and don't have a full time job but to my surprise i was able to get just the amount i needed. The loan combined with the money from my health insurance meant that i could finally go ahead with the surgery. I am set for the 24th March so far but its not set yet so im a bit nervous but i have researched this as much as humanly possible and am sure it is the right option for me.
