    STALL!

I am 2 weeks post op and right there too. STALL. In fact I gained 2 lbs when I went on full liquids. I eat maybe 1 can of Soup strained and divided up throughout the day. I have a coupe SF pops and my Water. Not much else. Really sad about this even though I heard people venting on the forums post op. I am trying not to weigh myself everyday. That only adds to my sadness about the situation. That and people asking if I have lost X amount of weight yet... GRRRR>..

    Dizzy Feeling

Kara, I am right there with you. I am on full liquids - 2 weeks out - and barely get 250 cals per day. I push my Water, not as much as I should, though. But I get dizzy so much. My blood pressure is fine, so I am sure it is the water or low food intake. My advice to anyone feeling dizzy, call the Dr. He or she will better direct you. They know your history and can ask more pointed questions. If you pass out and hit your head, you could end up in the ER. Not good. Stay safe!
  3. Having "buyers remorse" of sorts. I am so freaking hungry. And not losing... :*(

    Un-break my heart

One day at a time... that's all I can do. And when he starts his fussing, I just kill him with kindness. Dr Phil said, one person has to stand up and say I will make enough changes for the both of us. When the changes no longer help then.. well then it is time to rethink the relationship. So my change, not fussing back at him. I will just be me...

    BMI too low

How far from 40 BMI are you? I was at 37 and need to be 40 to qualify since I don't have any co-mo's. So eating more wasn't really an option but I did quit dieting. I also drank about 2 jugs of Water before I went to my weigh in appointment. I will say that some insurance companies require a BMI history. Luckily, mine did not require this. So I made my weigh in... went home and pee out a few pounds and took a massive... well. You get the picture. LOL Gaining 25 is not a good option. I have heard of people using the ankle weights, but put them in your bra so no one sees them... or wear very long, baggy jeans. You could even... just saying.. wear one as a pad. LOL I know.. but it is an idea and at 4 lbs each, well, you might be over 40 BMI haha!! Oh last tip... don't stand so dang tall.If you are an inch shorter, you instantly go down on the BMI scale. Good luck. If it is meant to be, it will be.
  7. Hi there! My eldest daughert (14) has Aspergers and ADHD as well. She did really well with my surgery although she was crazy nervous. She bit her nails down till they bled. She wanted to stay by my side, even when my hubby and other daughter went to the hotel to swim and relax. I took some extra time to explain to her what was happening. I wanted her to feel OK about what was happening. I knew I had to break it down in a way she could understand. My youngest daughter (4) thought this was a vacation! LOL She got to stay in a hotel and swim everyday. I was held for 5 days in the hospital and that was heaven for her. LOL I tried to explain surgery to her but she didn't get it. And I didn't want to push it anymore. I let her enjoy her little vacation. One thing, I had to constantly (and still do) remind her not to come lay on mommy. She loves to cuddle. So I lay on the bed, put a pillow on my tummy and let her cuddle to the side of me. I try to give some room so she can hurt me. She gets her cuddle time and my tummy stays safe. Now on the flip side... I had a co worker call me yesterday. I am 2 weeks post op and this (@&$ asked if I lost 100 lbs yet... insert his laughter here. But really? That kind of hurt. Esepecially since I did NOT tell my co workers what kind of surgery I was having. He assumed. Which leads me to believe that they all assumed that. So yeah jerk, I lost 100 lbs in 2 weeks... did you? LOL Ugh. Ok moving on! I will be honest, 2 weeks out and not losing is making me wonder if this surgery will work for me. I was losing great on my pre op diet and right after surgery and now nothing. I hope that it is just a stall due to moving into full liquids. We shall see. No fear hun. Things will be ok. Just take some extra time explaining the situation. And dont forget to stock up on hugs!!! Good luck!

    Kentucky welcome

Hola!!! Dr O told me he used a 38 bougie. Not sure if he changes the size based on how much you need to lose. So far on full liquids I still don't feel any restriction!! As for me, I am doing well. Moved on to full liquids. That means I added Protein Shakes and creamy Soups. The bad news is that once I added full liquids, I gained 2 pounds. Not sure whats up with that. I had my one week post op appt and it went well. The NP said I might not go back to work after 3 weeks. She wants to see me again in week 3 to decide. Remember I was in the hospital for 5 days so that probably has to do with my slow progress. I am pushing more liquids now than ever. Still can't eat Jell-O or pudding. It is too thick to go down. It sits in my chest and causes pain. I had to drink Water to push it through. No biggie, I will keep trying every few days. Soup goes down great YUMMM. I don't feel full ever! I do get pain in my chest if I eat too quickly or too much - although a few minutes later I can eat more (by eat, I mean drink LOL). All together I am in good spirits. I love that Dr O calls me every week to check on me. That is too nice. How is everyone doing?? BTW I have been dreaming of food LOL I am sick, I know.
  9. About to make some naughty bits for Father's Day. Too bad I won't be enjoying any of them!!

    ANY JUNE SLEEVERS OUT THERE???

Hey Jewels~! Just a little update on me (sleeved 6/6/11). Doing well overall. Some minor pain at the big incision. Can sleep on my side - either side - as long as I use a pillow to prop up my leg and against my tummy. (( Sorry hubby, no cuddling yet...) LOL Umm that brings me to a TMI question people like to ask... yes "IT" was possible and "IT" was great!! LMAO Granted it was very easy going and gentle. Have to be extra careful this early out. OK moving hahaha... what am I eating... B - Powerade Zero, Water, 1/2 serving of Protein shake... whatever I can get in. L - still finishing breakfast!! LOL and D - when I really seem to be hungry - water, shake, lots of SF pops and Cream of Potato Soup (strained out). This diet is getting dull but in 2 weeks I get to add mushies.. so I am excited. Let's see, what else? Umm BM? Check.. VERY small, yet normal. Hunger pangs? Yep, like I said, dinner and after is my hungriest time. But I watch a lot of food Network at night, so that might add to my hunger. Energy? Hmm so-so. The PowerAde Zero has helped and plus I can drink gulps of water now. I feel hydrated although I am sure I could use more. Last, but not least, I have a hematoma in my pelvic/groin area. It is the size of a golf ball, no pain unless prodded and is just ugly. Otherwise, no issues!! Tip of the day - buy stock in sugar free pops... because I am going through them like crazy!! LOL!!! :cheer2: Congrats to all the Jewels that were sleeved this last week!!! YAY!!! And next week Jewels... wooosa! It will be fine. No worries!

Day 4 Post OP - farts and poop oh my

I was sleeved 6/6/11 and still have incision pain at my big incision. I spoke to my Dr today (he actually calls me every couple days) and he said it was normal. Just pop a pain pill if I needed it - which I haven't. Sounds like you are doing pretty good! I will be happy when I get to mushy foods... I am so tired of pops and cream soup hahah!!

2 weeks post op & Stomach bloated....

Hi there!! I am 2 weeks post op and having this issue. In fact I had to take my bra off the other day because it was sitting on the bloated area. I went to the Dr and they said it was normal - no fluids trapped under the skin. So I go bra-less LMAO SMH and take my Gas-X. I am also walking more and it seems to go down little by little. So far I do not think it is anything to worry about. Good luck hun.

    Problems

Sorry to hear your story. Glad your OK now. Question - did you get Gallbladder meds after your VSG? My Dr started me on meds 7 days post op and I have to continue for 6 months.
  14. Wow.. ok I thought I was going through this alone or that I was the odd ball. I had my VSG on 6/6/11 - like many of you - and cannot stomach the BA multi vites. I don't even bother with the calcium ones anymore because they are HUGE and cause a nasty foam and acid reaction. Not good! I would love to do Gummies. I didn't think to ask about it today at my one week post op visit... bummer. Good convo though!
  15. Full liquids? It is like heaven after 2 weeks of chicken broth!!! Bah da ta da... I'm luv'n it.. LOL

    Un-break my heart

Hey Stac and CCBC, after waiting an hour for him to come to bed last night, I went out to get some water (I already had a full glass.. LOL). When I passed him I said, you not coming to bed? He said oh yeah, just gaming. He quickly shut it off and came right to bed. He was all lovey dovey. IDK maybe he is bi-polar. I was happy he seemed ok. He was really fussing earlier over nothing. Today he is back to himself but I still have to wonder... what the heck is going on with him. I have taken both comments to heart and I will try to be more understanding as well as show more attention. I will see if that works. I just hope that people know losing weight isn't going to make your spouse love you more. If the love is gone, nothing is going to help unless both parties make an effort. I just read The Emotional First Aid Kit for bariatric patients which touches on the whole post op weight loss jealousy. A spouse may be very worried (like CCBC said) about your getting all sexy and leaving them. I have been married 5 yrs and have 2 kids. There is nothing more important to me than family, but emotional abuse is NOT acceptable - no matter what is going on around you. If he does this again, we will need to have a heart to heart.
  17. Hey Tamz, I am on my 1st day of full liquids (8 days post op). My diet guide says thinned creamed soups (tomato, mushroom, chicken etc). I was hoping to have some Cream of Potato strained the chunks out and thinned with extra milk. Not sure if that was OK either. I am assuming that thinned out cream soups means the light versions as they are usually thinner. But if you add more milk than called for, the soup comes out thin anyway. I am going for my one week post op visit tomorrow and will ask for sure. I haven't tried pudding or yogurt yet. I am a litte weary I guess. Cold stuff still bothers my tummy - except popsicles which go down ok. How are you doing on your Water intake? Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

    Conparable surgery pain

Hi there. Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I want to stress that everyone's experience is very different. I was scheduled for 1 night inpatient and ended up there for 5 nights. I could not get any fluids in at all. I had spinal cord surgery last year and I think this is a bit worse, but in different ways. I was just sleeved on 6/6/11 and already starting to feel a bit better. I am sure your experience will be good, and even if there are bumps in the road, you will be able to overcome them!!! Good luck!
  22. I slept on my side for the first time in a week! YAY!!

  23. Hey guys, well I am home - finally. The Dr would not release me until I could get some liquids in. And right now I can get in maybe 6 oz a day.. not good. So the basic run down was that I could not swallow anything = hot, cold or otherwise. I was on IV fluids all this week. Pretty scary. I had some pretty nasty burps that produced hot acid. Water was the worst for me - still is. Not sure why but in order to get my fluids in, they have to be warm. I get pretty bad spasms in my chest even with the tinyest baby sip. Was told that it is gas. Well... hmm.. not sure about that one. 3 or 4 baby [non warm] sips later, I am dry heaving. It hurts so freaking bad. They sent me home with Dilaudid (sp?), Ranglin (sp?), Prilosec and Nogfran (cant remember the name but it is for nausea). They were going to send me home with the Lortab elixir but I just cant get it down. Incisions? Oh yeah those nasty little buggers. They hurt like hell! How the heck am I supposed to get up and down? Did you roll in and out of bed? I dont have a recliner so it is the bed or couch for me. I literally need someone to help lift me. I feel like I am ripping my incisions open every time I move. That in turn causes nausea. Sigh. I have two massive bruises the size of melons on my personal / inner thigh area. That is scary all by itself. The Dr said they took blood from the femarol(sp?) and that caused the massive bruising. So how do I feel right now, it is nice to be home. I know I have to get liquids in or I will end up in the ER. So I am sip, sip, sipping. Sigh. Would I do it again? WOW not sure if I should answer that right now. My answer today would be not just NO but HELL NO! I am sure a month from now I will have a new answer for you. Right now, I am freaking a bit. It hurts so bad to move, cant get liquids in and yes I am hungry and broth doesnt cut it. Anyway, not meaning to be a pity party but I wanted to share my still biased opinion of the surgery. I will update when things start going better. If you have any tips for me, PLEASE inbox me. I am very scared, nervous and sad about my progress. Thanks for listening!!
  24. OOPS I scrambled my protein YUCK! I made Unjury chicken broth and the water was too hot so my protein separated. note to self - dont do that again! LOL

    post op difficulty and discouraged

I am 1 week post op and not on full liquids yet. I was in the hosp for 5 nights due to not being able to get in enough fluids. I am home now, but still having issues with getting enough Water. I can't drink water alone. So what I did was buy Smart Water and use it in everything I make. It has electrolytes to help you stay hydrated. So I might get in a small cup of broth every 4 hours but since I use the Smart Water I dont feel dehydrated and my urine is partially clear - always a good sign. Keep pushing, and I will too!! We will get better everyday!!! :cheer2:
