  5. Hi Audrey, how are you doing? It has been almost 2 years since our surgery and I just got into my size 6 pants this morning - I am so excited!

Hope you are still doing great.

    Question for Mexican bandsters???

a fill ONE DAY after a surgery?????????????????? Hmmm, quite interesting. I have never heard of that. I am glad you are losing so fast. I have lost only 55 lbs and I still have 15 lbs to go. My BMI is finally 25!
  7. Yourowndestiney, Please research your doctor, try to talk to different people. A week before the surgery is not the time for you to be insecure but I have heard of many stories about bands being placed in the wrong position. don`t you qualify for insurance with a good surgeon here in the US? Why have you chosen Dr. Huacuz? Have you tried to type his name on google?

    Please investigate him further.

  8. Hi Sweet,

I am LDS as well, I have lived in Utah but now we are in NC. My husband was transfered here. I am originally from Brazil and he is from Moab, UT. There are 2 sisters banded in our ward, I am one of them. I am on plateau now and need to get exercising in order to "melt" the lefover pounds :)

    Happy Easter

I believe Utahband ( who is my friend) is not expressing herself clearly. The band was not OLD meaning --- used band, rusty band or anything related to that. It was simply NOT the new INAMED band that was showed to her prior to surgery, when the band was discussed. The band that was placed was a very large band, one that is not manufactured by INAMED any longer. It was the largest band and it slipped probably due to the huge size on somebody that is about 5'1'' and 168 lbs on the day of surgery ( do not ask me why someone with a 33 of BMI decides to have a Lap Band)... I believe Utahband is not hurting emotionally only because of the complications but because of having the terrible feeling of having to have another procedure a few weeks after the first one in addition to having to find out that the band was not the band she was told she would get at the time of the medical assessment. I hope I am assisting her to express herself a little better. To end all this.. Utah is doing well now, she is still struggling with the feelings of having a band ( we all know how the first weeks go), feeling extra tired for being on very little or nothing for quite a while. I hope this helps.

I have found posts of someone in this very same thread addressing a patient of Huacuz who was near death because of a serious infection. I will look carefully for the post and refer to it next time I come accross it.

I am lapbanderNC and Utahband is my friend obviously from Utah. For some reason she copied and pasted my posts several times. I asked her why she did that and she said that it was because she did not know how to express herself very well in English. What I can say is that each person needs to research for themselves what doctor is the best for them. I have also concluded that the ideal is to never refer doctors to anyone since they can have natural consequences and/or reactions during or after surgery and the person who made the referal can feel pretty uncomfortable. I am happy with my band which was place by Dr. Marsden - a fantastic doctor ( for me). But I can also testify that my friend, Utahband is truly struggling due to her second band surgery in less than 90 days. According to surgical records her band was an INAMED band, but the larger size which favored the slippage only a few weeks after placement. The band slipped towards the esophagus causing extreme pain and reducing oxygen. Now I reinforce... research yourself, this is only a support group and not an adverstisement for any physician place. I am done with the Huacus mess and I have very limited time to spend here. I have been a member for about a year and my post history is solely related to genuine questions I have had before and after surgery -- especially during the most critical recovery time.

Dr. Daniel Huacuz also messed up on my friend`s band. She had her surgery on December 2007 and since then was having extremelly strong pains. Since I have the band as well I kept on telling her that sometimes we do have pain but she needed to check with her doctor. Before surgery Dr. Huacuz called her many times and answered each and every question she had, however this picture changed after surgery, she could not get a hold of him often and every time she talked to him he was very rude to her. Once I called him and while he talked to me I could hear a beeping sound on the background, sounded like he was in the surgery center at the same time - hopefully not performing a surgery.! Last week, my friend passed out and was taken to the ER with her nails and lips turning purple... when the bariatric surgeon got inside he found an inamed band that was place in the wrong portion of her stomach and on top of that it was an old type of band, one that is not even produced by inamed any longer. My friend said that the day before surgery, Dr. Huacuz showed her small, new band and said that was the style she was getting.... All I know is that my friend is now doing well after the nightmare... she is glad to have that band removed and to be receiving the care of a new doctor. __________________
