    Stall/Plateau

I'm working out 4 times per week for an hour, 80 grams of protein per day, about 20 carbs per day and getting 64 to 80 oz's of water. I did increase my calories 2 days last week to about 900 and my fat intake because I know from losing weight previously that if I don't get enough calories or fat that I stall. Once I did those things I lost one pound each day. I'm praying that this is the end of this stall. I will keep everyone posted and thank you all for your help!!! Smooches!!

  5. The approval process has begun!

  6. Today is my final visit with my surgeon and then onto the approval process. I pray that they come back w/a quick approval and not make me wait 2-3 weeks.

  7. Hi Elite53, let's definitely keep in touch. I love this site. I have learned so much from it since I joined back in Dec 2010.

    African American Sleevers

Nikki D u said a mouthful. If you don't get your health on track, you might not be around for your daughter or your husband. Selfish is if you didn't try to get yourself healthy....some people just need to sit back and be quiet because without the facts they really don't know.
  9. Hi there Fellow Sleevers!!! I have just started this journey on 11.22.10 which was a WL Seminar that I attended. I was first interested in the Lap Band but after doing extensive research I decided against it and I'm gonig with the Sleeve. Yesterday 12.07.10 was my first consult with my surgeon and I am on my way to start my prescribed tests. Anyone out there that is just now starting this journey? Keshia
  10. Hi All, For those who hate the gym or can't get there, go to www.billyblanks.com and check out the DVD's.. I haven't been sleeved yet but have been working out with Billy and lost 40lbs on my own with these DVD's....click the links below to take you to the DVD's that I use. http://www.billyblanks.com/product/store/fitness/tone-sculpt-shape/sculpt+express.do http://www.billyblanks.com/product/store/fitness/fat+burn/turbo+charged+fat+burner.do You will burn fat and tone and sculpt. Also, don't worry about keeping up his pace at first, go at your own pace so that way you are able to build up your strenth and stamina. Also, another way to tone up those arms are to do a exercise I used to do in gym class many yrs ago. Stand with feet hip with apart and arms raised shoulder height with palms down. Turn your body to the right by using your waist only (which will then cause your arms to be one in front for you and one behind you), return to the start position and turn your body to the left. Do at least 10 reps to start and build your way up to higher reps. Your arms will be toned in no time!!!! Also, if you are concerned about your thighs, lay on your bed on either your right or left side (whichever side you prefer to start with) and put your legs together and depending on what side you are laying on lift the leg that is free in the air as high as it can go and return to the start position without having your feet or ankles touch. Do 10 reps and do the other side. Again, increase your reps once yout get stronger. This will tighten your outter & inner thighs, and shrink your hips and backside. I'm not professing to be an exercise guru but these things have worked for me and my husband. I'm 275 lbs and in a very loose size 18 some 16's. At that weight I should be at least wearing a 22 or 24 but with the regimen above I have toned and tightened. Hope this helps and many blessings to all of you! Keshia

Pre-op Liquid Protein Diet & snacks

Hi everyone!!! I am new here and trying to add the ticker to my profile. Can someone advise on how to do that? Thanks! Keshia
  12. Hi There lkcraig316, I started out thinking the band, the band!!!! But after some indepth research I ended up going with the sleeve. I didn't like the idea of the foreign object inside of me and the possibility of the line to the port breaking and poking me and the RNY I also didn't want the dumping or the malabsorbption problems. I think they all have something with them but I think the Sleeve was the best choice for me. I have read with all of the WLS that ppl are experiencing nausea but I think it's because of them not following the plan as they should. I will definitely keep in touch. I will add you as a friend!

When did you see a difference?

Hello Everyone, I am in the beginning stages of the Lap Band process. I will be going for my consult on Tues, 12.07.10 I just want to give you some tips on the exercise. I actually lost 40 lbs within a few months all on my own before I even thought about WLS. I started out going to the gym and wasn't losing any weight at all so I remembered that I used to workout at home on my own and that I lost weight that way so I began working out at home again. After a while I hit a plateau and was devistated. Suddenly I remembered that I had some DVD's of Billy Blanks known for Taebo. Well I started doing Billy and the weight just fell off. I was doing his Bootcamp DVD and another high Cardio DVD and the pounds just seemed to melt away. Also, a trainer friend of mine told me not to exercise 5 days per week because I was overtraining at some point causing myself to plateau. Also, sometimes 3 days per week isn't enough depending on the intesity of the exercise. Step it up to 4 days per week and switch up your calories throughout the week. One day eat 1500 calories and the next day eat 1000....this is just an example. Also, if you don't get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night you can hender your weight loss. Another thing is that I was always hungry after working out so I would have my dinner right after, take my shower and wind down for about 30 mins to an hour and go to bed because the longer you stay up, the more you will become hungry again. As far as the Plantar Francitis goes (I can't even spell it anymore...LOL), I had it and was going to a Dr. that kept giving me cortizone shots that only worked once and he kept wrapping my foot in gauze. I finally went to another Dr. and he turned me onto Crocs. After wearing them for a week my foot felt much bettter. After 2 months, the pain was gone. Hope this tidbit of info helps.
