  1. My insurance was charged for $1600. And of course I had to go a second night (with a mask) so that was another $1600. I haven't seen what they charged insurance for the actual machine yet, but they say my part (20%) will be about $550.

    My Friend Mr. CPAP

That's it! The smell of fabric softener...but I don't use fabric softener because of allergies. So now I am really curious.....

    Do you have BCBS Insurance?

No help here....I have BCBS, but it is basically the only insurance in Kansas that doesn't cover ANYTHING related to weight loss. I hope all goes well for you!

    Telling Co-Workers

Oh, and there's that....I do not want to tell my story over and over again. =-)
  5. My doctor said no pain relievers except for Tylenol. I started my pre-op diet two days ago, and that's when the headache kicked it. For me two factors....also happens to be the end of Aunt Flow...and no caffeine. I hope yours doesn't last....stay strong!

    Another surgery question...

I don't think you have anything to worry about, I have read a lot and heard a lot, and have not heard a mention of it before. Not saying some have not experienced it, but I'm sure it is not a general practice. What do you mean by drain? During my pre-op earlier this week the nurse told me that after the surgery there would be a drain coming out of one of the incision and that it would be removed the next day. Didn't seem to be anything to dread. Hope this helps!

    January 2011 Sleevers

I'm so happy for you! My BIG DAY is a week from tomorrow. Take it easy, and keep us updated!

    If I could do a pre-op diet....

Not really all that strict at all....fruit, cottage cheese, yogurt, lean meat, Protein shakes and unlimited radishes, cucumbers, celery, pickles, SF pop cycles, and caffeine free drinks. The carbs are the hard things to stay away from. It's like they rule my life. I also don't fill full on such little, simple food. So what...will they get in there and see that my liver sucks and close me up?

    No Midol!!!

My BIG DAY is Jan. 13 and I can't take pain killers...except for Tylenol. No problem, except for when it is that time of the month, and would you know it...it's that time of the month. I thought my head would explode earlier today and now again tonight. Midol does nothing for this kind of headache. Any suggestions???
  10. I bought some yesterday at Dillon's (Kroger sister store) and had some tonight and loved it! I'm so glad I tried it because I am not a big far of Protein drinks. My 9 year old who I have a huge problem getting to eat Breakfast tasted it and wanted his own class. I'm hoping I can get him to drink it in the mornings! I bought the mix...wondering what the bottles taste like. Yum!!!
  11. Thanks for that share....great interview!

    What I'm going to say

My BIG DAY is January 13. I have been telling everyone and their cousin about the decision I have made. Well....friends and co-workers at least. Everyone has been happy for me and has offered tremendous emotional support. They realize what a big deal it is and that it is not the "easy way out." Instead of feeling judged I have felt supported. I realize there will be lots of folks asking about how I'm losing weight once it starts happening and it will be annoying. If it is someone I don't know or who I don't think should be all up in my business will probably get something like..."Oh, you don't have time to hear all about it." And if they say they do, I'll direct them to my blog. Good luck! Be proud! =-) ThatDudesMom
  17. Well, I have been on here a week now, and I guess it is time to introduce myself. I have recently, and when I say recently I mean real, real recently decided to get band. I considered it two years ago, but took a detour (high Protein, moderate fat, and low carb...pee on a stick several times a day diet). I did well (30 lbs.), gained it and more back, and it has taken me a bit to get back to the idea of a band. I just turned 40, and I just hit the 300 mark on the scale. Not acceptable! I'm a single mom of an amazing 9 year old boy. I plan to be active with him, and I plan to see him and his children grow up. I have a great support system, and also know this site will be of great help. i have the sleep study and pych. eval done. I have a consult with my surgeon on Tuesday...I plan to beg for a January 3 banning. From a previous conversation with him, it is a possibility. I of course have the only insurance in my state (Kansas BC/BS) that does not cover anything related to weight loss. That means I am self pay....horrible for the bank account, but great for the process. Thanks to everyone who I have already learned so much from! I'm glad to be a part of this!!!
  18. I'm so glad you asked this question...I hope you/we get a lot of responses. =-)

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

I wish my insurance covered Lap-Band, but at the same time, I'm glad I don't have to jump through so many hoops. And feel for those who do. Not sure what my date is...looks like mid-January. Let's keep in touch!

    January 2011 Bandsters !!!

I hear what you are saying...I've been reminding myself daily that this move is basically calling an end to my love affair with food. I'm not scheduled yet, but looking at mid January. We can do it!
