  1. You all are so very welcome.I think the most thing they stress in the book is getting in the fluids.I have another booklet that stresses the inportants of getting in your proteins....it says that you will be extremely tired when you don't and you will be more pron to loose some of your hair without the protein....I hope you found your favorite....you have to get in atleast 75grams... that's at least 3 /22 to 25 grams ....work on it before you have your surgery....go through the taste test.....first......good luck everyone.....
  2. Go to the Blogs and look at the blog I posted and click on the link and read the book it is everything you need to know about the sleeve....down to the foods we need to have .....let me know that you got it.

    First Seminar Last Night

Hi Melissa, I havnt had my surgery either,I am just like you ,I have done so much reaserch I thought I know more than the doctor,.....I had a friend that told me not to burn my self out....I really didnt know what she ment till I started going to the appointments...thats where the waiting comes in at ...I just hope that your insurance doesnt require for you to do the 6 months weight management program...thats what takes so long...........wow.....but once you make it through those ...time flyes...I hope the road goes well for you...and like I said before please dont burn yourself out with info....its a lot to take in at once...ive been reading up on this for 3 yrs...and once Imake it to see the doctor I forgot everything that I had read...you need to start writing down lots and lots of questions for the doctors..and when you do make sure you give him some ti let him know that you did your reasearch....make him think...take care and its a long walk just dont get tired.....much luck.....camille01

HI Nikki,I contacted GHI and got a chance to talk to one of the reps.she had me to contace the doctor for the surgery CODE,I did and called them back, she told me that the sleeve is covered but its is up to the surgeon and your PCP.they have to issue a medical necessity letter to the insurance along with the other appts. we had to complete like the psyc, nutritionist,Gallbladder x-rays ant the other test to see that we quilify.....thats what they told me....I hope this helps...

    Step One - Quit Smoking

ask your doctor to perscribe Zyban-Welburtrin,it works better that the patch, you dont have the continue flow of nicot.this is an antidepression it cuts the craving down to nothing...you startit for 5 days while you smoke and after the 5th day you put them down and wont want to pick them back up...this takes the craving away......and it really works both myself and my husband stopped together..taking the welbutrin....I wish you the best quiting...

    The First Step!

Hi ScentsLady, I can comprehend just what you are saying,my hubby was ok with me getting the lapband because he thought it wasn't so bad and I would be able to bounce right back but the more research I did the worst he became, boy oh boy when I told him that I was gonna have the vertical sleeve done he acted like I had made this desision for him,,he had a fit...but I sat down and explained it all to him then I told him I am doing this for ME and ME only not for him..and to even to extend my life with him and my kids...so when I found out the days of the support groups I asked him to go to 1 with me and just so happened my youngest daughter and my husband went..I was so excited that they did go to meet people that has had the surgery so that they can see that they are still normal even after thay had the surgery...I think they really appericate it a lil more..the idea of me wanting to do this for my health and just wanted to include them in they were ok with my desision to have the sleeve...so when you go to the support group meeting invite them to go with you...if they dont want to go then its on them...atleast you tryed to include them......I say go for it because I am going to for my health....I know in your blog that you want to be health..so have fun ---take lots of pictures now and all the wat through your journey so you have something to reflect back on and say I DID IT......good luck and my prayers are with you...
  17. I just realized your birthdate is the same day as my daughters...feb 11th.....congradulations...my prayers are with you..

Congradulations, you look like you are ready to start your journey....Hope everything goes well....keep your head up and enjoy the ride,,dont forget take pleanty of pictures ...they eill last you a life time to show where you cone from to where you are going....thanks for the pics...........
  19. Hi Doggz.....go to www.realize.com and type in the search bar verticalsleeve and look at the precentage of weight that one looses...It says that they loose between 60/80% of there body fat...if this is the surgery for you,you will get down to your dream weight,,the bypass will help too,I am scared of the bypass because of the rerouting, but it is the Idea for people that weighs between 350/500 or better but they are all tools to help you loose...so if you want this surgery dont let anyone detear you from getting it because it will help you to loose the weight...I personally do not want the lapband or the bypass....If my insurance doesnt quilify me for the sleeve..I will remain overweight till something else comes along..........I pray for you and you pray for me...thanks for posting...all you need to do is to see the % of weight lost....I hope this will help you out....camille01
  20. hello....it was from my understanding that they would put in a cath..I think I would rather have one than to wake up laying in pee...if they told you its a catheter or a adult diaper...which would you want...all joks aside..the catheter is to measure the output of Fluid intake...they have to measure it because you could be dehydrated and they never no it...I hope everything goes well for you ...just dont worry about it and look at it as a percaution...good luck..

    live alone

It is easier said than done,,if you can make sure that you have everything you need down stairs even a recliner chair that you can sleep in,or at least get comfortable in and have someone that you can trust to have a key to your house that would be the Idea,,,you dont want to put your self in a position where you are stuck and cant call or get anyone there when you need then....it is good to have someone there when you need them and keep your cell phone in your pocket incase you cant get to the house phone....everyone heals at a different pace and no one can tell you how you are gonna feel...so have a friend on call, stay down stairs and make your self comfortable, and have your pain meds.handy.....Ill Pray for you ,,,,please keep us posted......
