  1. Put on your big girl/boy pants and just do it....if you gained, accept it and go on..

    you will LOSE again..

I have a friend that is trying to lose the weight that she gained BEFORE she goes back to the dr..

(she was 'unfilled' a year ago due to an erosion.)

if you can do that..you don't need the band..lol

    Start on a focused plan..

    YOU can do this..

    YOU are worth it!

  2. So just realized today is exactly my 6 month anniversary for having the surgery. 12-14-10. And while I am happy that so many people have lost so much weight in here. Congrats to everyone! I just start seeing that and feel discouraged. I know I haven't been doing the greatest on my part. But I haven't had the full feeling and can eat a normal amount of food. I just had my 5th fill yesterday and it feels tight right now still on all liquids. So well see how it progresses. But I have barely lost 30lbs and that was in the beginning and haven't lost anything in months just stayed exactly the same. Oh well just hoping it starts working and I start seeing some results. I am getting married in a year and want to have lost another 50 pounds from now to then. Now starts the process of that.

I am right there with you... I had a long talk with my provider and she said we all hit plateaus...we are in that mode I think. I was banded on 12.6.10 just before you, I have lost 32 and am still sitting there..I just had a fill a week ago and am hoping that will be my 'sweet' spot!! I do know we need to get UP and MOVE move MOVE...

What are you doing for exercise? is it daily? calories taken in? Also the band is a TOOL..you can eat a normal amount of food..or you can 'listen' to your band and stop when you feel full..

Maybe we should be accountable to each other to motivate!!

  3. It just goes to show you how different everyone's doctor is. My surgeon is very liberal and he encourages patients to try a variety of foods (I'm guessing so you won't feel deprived, then discouraged, then go on a binge). I haven't found anything I can't tolerate and I hope it stays that way!

My provider is liberal on foods..just cautious on bread..greater chance of it getting 'balled' up I guess..

and I agree with the trying a variety of foods..I usually will try one small bite of something new..and if it goes..YAY!

If not then will try something else..

She said...I don't ever want you to feel deprived of food..this is a TOOL..not a solution..

    and I abide by that...

  4. I worked for 2 years to get my surgery..and in that time, I dieted, I exercised, I worked my butt off..all for the love of myself..

and in that time, I only told a FEW people what I was doing..

and in the end, 2 were super supportive..

and 1 keeps me going with telling me how great I look..

and the one person who had the surgery before me..and got an erosion..and has now gained back her 100 lbs lost..

    is my worst supporter..

I have tried everything to get her moving and back into being motivated..

    and I find myself floundering..

    so no more..

    I am my biggest supporter..

GO ME! it's not about others..

it's only about you..own it and embrace it..

  5. You can eat bread and it doesn't get stuck? My provider says NO..all caps.lol But then again, I can eat a tortilla in place of bread and that's generally what I do.

Awesome on your weight loss..I can HOPE that really start losing..

Today so far, I have had a piece of string cheese and an 80 cal yogurt. and of course my water..wheeee...

  6. It does 'tip' the scales..and that is more than likely why I keep losing and gaining these 2-3 pounds..

    I have been exercising nearly every day..so now I am going for EVERY day..something..even if it's just 10 minutes at a time..3-4 times in a day..it's MOVING..lol

  7. Well I got thru the weekend of bbq's..and I think I probably ate too much..I don't feel over stuffed, but I'm sure I'm fuller than I should feel..ugh

    so tomorrow..I start NEW..

So what do you eat for an average day..

    I am curious!!

    Normally...

    Breakfast, lunch and dinner...

I'm almost 6 months post op..have been stuck at this same weight , plus or minus 2-3 pounds..yo yoing ..

must get back into the swing, I worked SO hard to get this surgery...

    can't sabotage myself now!!

  8. I got stuck the other day! I hadn't had that happen before.. wasn't too bad, but I was eating a sandwich too quickly and I had eaten too much, and I think I swallowed a chunk of bread and it felt so weird and painful. After a couple minutes it passed though. I didn't throw it up or anything. (thankfully!) what a terrible feeling though bleh!

Also an NSV, saw a lot of friends I hadn't seen in a while this week at the American Idol finale, and even one of my favorite Idols (that I've met a million times) noticed I lost weight! biggrin.gif crazy! Even though I didn't meet my finale goal, still felt good :)

Yikes! AND....you can eat bread? my provider really doesn't want me to try it, sure way of getting stuck..unless it's something super crunchy..like toast or a tortilla...but isn't that the scariest feeling???

  9. I love my Ryka's.. I have wide feet , and I'm a nurse so I know about being on my feet for long periods of time..I also love Dansko's for work..they are heaven sent..seriously!

  10. I think you are jumping the gun, LOL. Let your body adjust to the 10# drop. To answer your exercise post, I go to the gym 3X aweek for a 30 minute weight/cardio circuit. I also like to walk a few of the other days per week.

What # of calories are you eating daily? How is your band at this point, great or too loose? TOM gain, salty foods Fluid retention, Constipation? Changing your exercise sounds like a great idea. I have been succesful breaking a plateau in the past by exercising 2X aday, not long workouts just 2 of them.

Hi CiCi, I am an RN, too. What kind of unit do you work? Are you one of the night shift workers who don't have much appetite or the type who eats all night to stay awake? I was both types during my years of night shift, LOL. How is your band working at this time? Are you drinking ample Water?

Yes I am a night worker..does it show?I work in the ER.

LOL I find myself munching off and on because everyone else is..when I first went back to work after surgery I was SO adament about just drinking my water..then I would skip a day meal to eat at night, and then feel starved. I have to find my happy medium..calorie wise I fluctuate from 500 on a craving salads kind of day to 1200 on those ..well that looks yummy day.. I have to find my happy medium..and I'm trying. The only exercise I got in the last 3 days with having company all weekend was some walking..not enough I'm sure..and now I work in a bit, so I will try and walk at work tonight, but you and I both know that it is all dependent on patient volume and it doesn't always cooperate!!

Sadly I am probably drinking less water than I should be, esp in the last 3 days, but I have my water bottle ready for tnite..I'm bound and determined!! My band is doing ok, I feel full, I stop eating..but I still don't know that i'm at my 'sweet' spot.

I am in a bit of a slump myself, LOL. I had 2cc removed from my band last week and have only very minimal band assistance right now, ie I have to work harder, LOL. I needed my stomach to heal after I was so sick. It seems I was getting stuck so much due to my extreme seasonal allergies causing post nasal drip which kinda plugged up my pouch. The getting stuck/vomiting caused my stomach to swell and since it can't swell out it swelled in and made everything worse. I feel wonderful since the deflate but have a fear of gaining weight. :( My next fill is June 3rd, hopefully I can maintain until then.

    Joan

  11. I KNOW I am under 1000 calories a day ..for most days. I work nights..have you ever tried to eat that many calories at night or at work? ha ha ha So I am working on that ..

I yo yo up and down the same 1-2 lbs every day..

I'm doing the Dance 2 on Wii changed that up to do 6 songs in a row..I am not the dancer I thought I was.

LOL starting the treadmill on alternate days too..

Each day is a NEW day..

  12. Congratulations to everyone on their weight loss so far!! Last saturday we went out of town to throw a "No More Chemo" party for my 5 year old son. He just finished his last chemo treatment YEAH But I had seen most of our family in mid Feb and have only lost about 10 lbs since but everyone was going on about how much I had lost. I think it was because of the new clothes I had finally bought where before I was still wearing my old clothes. I have went from a size 26 to an 18 which is so exciting. I had another fill today it was a small fill .3 ccs. I am over 5 cc's but not sure exactly how much is in there. I had lost 8.5 lbs in 3 weeks!! I had only lost 2 lbs in the 6 wks prior so I was happy to know I was back on track.

Congrats to YOU and especially to your son..Keep up the great job, you want to be around a LONG time for him..

  13. I have lost 27.5 in the long run, altho the day of surgery I gained 10, due to fluids, and I had to lose that a second time, which really bummed me, but not a hard 10 to lose..

I have to say that most days this is NOT hard to do..we made this decision to have the surgery..

no one forced us to do this..

    we do/did this for US..

    becauses we are ...

    WORTH it ladies..

    so worth it!!

  14. chicken is truly the culprit!! My first stuck was w/chicken, I probably ate too fast and BOING it was back up..I didn't eat chicken for a month..at least.

A really tasty thing is canned white chicken, 6 ounces is great, a 1/2 cup of low fat cottage cheese, 1 tbl of chopped onion, a spice like 'what's this' or mrs Dash, 1/2 roma Tomato, or whole if you like. mix and eat. It is SO YUMMY!

What's this is a spice that I found down south..I live in the north, so I order it online, if you like tasty..try it..DIVINE makes every thing taste wonderful..

  15. I know some people can't eat in the morning.. but I would think that is a symptom of being too tight... but I guess everybody is different. I eat probably my biggest meal for breakfast usually. I also think it depends how people want to work with their band, some want it SO tight, that they can't really eat.

I'm kinda stalled too, been eating like crap, I just got back from a surprise trip to Vegas.. gotta get back on it!

I agree! I talked to MY doctor today, and she concurred..she said I should be able to eat in the morning, taking in my protein..

She put in .4 cc's. so now I have 3.7 cc's total. On liquids for at least 24 hours. I was down 3.5 pounds in a month. She says I am right on track..

    YAY~

  16. I have never heard of a doctor saying you shouldn't be able to eat until 4 hours after getting up?! Different doctors fill at different rates. Yours is probably more conservative than his/her partner. Some people get filled too aggressively and end of having to have an urgent deflate. It sounds to me like you are due for a small fill at your next appointment.

    Joan

Thanks Joan, that is what I am hoping for! I think you are right at her being more conservative..I guess I am good with that..I wouldn't want to have an emergency deflate!
