  1. Does anyone what to chat? The chat button is under patients above. If you click on patients, a drop down menu comes down and you have the chat button. We had quite a bit of activity in there yesterday!
  2. I have been reading online a lot about this. I have been taking Dyflucan, and it only goes away for a couple of days. There seem to be a bunch of home remedies like taking garlic capsules, and grape fruit extract. I take Probiotics and eat the yogurt with the live bacteria. I am about to lose my mind. I do everything I am supposed to including going without underwear at home. The over the counter creams and suppositories don't seem to help at all and actually seem to make it hurt worse. I am just wondering if anyone else has had one they can't get rid of?
  3. There was another thread where someone said they can never find anyone in the chat room. We chat in the evenings. It depends on your time zone. I try to check in early for those on the east cost. Last night we were chatting til past 1 am pacific time and the person I was chatting with was a couple hours ahead of me. Keep checking! You have to open a separate window and minimize it. Then what I do is read posts or email etc, and I wait for the doorbell that will ring and I will know someone came in. You can always private message someone too and ask them to meet you in the chat room at a certain time. I have done that before too. Chatting is a lot of fun and also a great way to get questions answered.

Back for support - nearly 7 years sleeved!

I am really upset about my regain but I can't seem to do anything about it. Since I broke my back, I can't really exercise. Now I have to have neck surgery. It really stinks that I got used to being thin or average and now I am chunky. I need to lose about 25 lbs but I don't even know how to make that happen. It would be so easy to become bulimic. The bad foods go down so easily but if I eat meat I am way too full way too fast. I hate that feeling that my stomach is going to explode. All I want to do it throw up so I am not so full.
  5. thank you ! I will go to the health food store and see if they have them
  6. I have a terrible time with constipation. Every time someone tells me this type of iron or that type of iron is not constipating, I get extremely constipated. I have to take iron because I become extremely anemic immediately if I don't. Is there any kind that is truly not constipating?
  7. Where do I get this Yellow Dock?
  8. I am wondering if people are leaving here and just posting at Bariatric Pal Facebook Group. I admit that it's easier since I am on facebook every day anyway, but I miss my friends here.
  9. What is this "Yellow Dock" is it a laxative? If your labs came back normal, is it something that has iron in it? I am confused....I just want to keep my iron levels normal and not be so constipated. So many people take Miralax but my doctor told me it causes kidney failure and my mom died from kidney failure. It says right on the container not to take it more than 14 days. This is always a problem and I have been sleeved almost 9 years and I need a permanent solution.
  10. they don't usually do iron infusions on people with the sleeve, but I've heard of a lot of gastric bypass people having them done
  11. yes, I lost over 100 lbs with the sleeve. I know quite a few ladies who have PCOS and have gotten pregnant after having WLS!

Can we talk about boobs and bras?

I have the opposite problem as everyone else. I have completely lost my boobs. An A cup is too big for me. I went into the bathroom recently at a restaurant and told a lady her jeans were cute. They had cute sparkly stars on the back pocket. She thanked me and said "can I tell you something?" I said "what?" She told me I needed a better bra because my boobs were sagging. All the bras that fit me in the cup have no material on the sides. they are made for teenagers. I end up wearing sports bras which don't give me the lift or the look that I want-to look like I have boobs!

Back for support - nearly 7 years sleeved!

Glad to see some of the old timers here. My story is long- and I really don't feel like typing all the problems that caused 4 back surgeries. I can't really exercise the way I used to. I have almost given up caring about my weight gain. Wearing a 14 is way better than wearing a 24. I do eat right but I can't wear any of the clothes I saved in case I gained weight back. The pants I wore when I was 145 during my first year after being sleeved don't even come close to fitting. I have lost all the muscle I gained when I was going to the gym every day. It makes me mad that I weigh 145 and clothes I wore at 145 before don't fit, but I can't risk doing anything to hurt my back. I can barely walk now. I am in a lot of pain if I try to walk even a block.

    GERD

it's pretty common for people with the sleeve to have to be on a PPI indefinitely. It's a double-edged sword. The PPI blocks acid, but acid is necessary to absorb iron and calcium. I have taken calcium citrate since the day of my surgery. I have recently been diagnosed with Osteoporosis.

    Hello Again

Well we have to be vigilant because it never gets easy. I did shakes and a small meal for dinner and I lost just fine doing that. Then some event comes up and I over do it and gain 3 or 4 lbs back that it took me a month to lose. The farther out I am, the harder it is.

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Do you have any kind of additional coverage because medicare never covers everything? You should be able to get a hold of medicare and find out how they pay in your state.

The food I want isn't the right food! It's terrible. I could probably eat Taco Bell every day. Who even knows if that's all hamburger without fillers. I still love fast food, even though I can't eat a big portion. I crave sweets all the time. It's very hard not to give into all the sweets I come across every single day.

It's really hard. I have no willpower if I see someone else eating sweets. I just end up binging on something later if I don't have some of what my friend or eating partner is having at the time. I just need to have a few carb free days then I know it will get way easier but I can't seem to make that.

    Anal Sex Concern

hey can someone tell me how this can feel good? It seems like it would hurt and how do you get pleasure from that. I have heard there are people who get pleasure out of pain.

Maintenance is way harder!! In the beginning, if I gained something, all I had to do was eat the right way and it came off. Now, if I eat wrong, I gain about 3 lbs and no matter what I do such as protein shakes all day, with a high protein small dinner and the scale doesn't move . It sure moves up if I eat wrong though. I am 8 years post sleeve. I am considering doing a complete fast. Oh and the other vets are on Lipstick Lady's page on OH
  21. I thought I would start this thread because the Life at or near goal forum seems to have died out. It's probably because of the veterans forum, but this topic still needs to be addressed. I've read posts lately of people who are really sruggling to stay at goal . They are gaining weight back and they are scared. Some of us are using the 5:2 plan to stay on track and that seems to help. I think it helps that there is a big website for that diet for questions and support. Anyone else care to chime in on how life is now that you're farther out and needing to use willpower to stay on track?
  22. Hello all, I'd like to start a thread for those of us who made it to goal but for some reason or another, are having trouble staying there or getting back there There seem to be a few of us now who are trying our best to stay on track, or get back on track. I thought if we had a place to post what we're eating, and what we do for exercise, we could encourage one another. We could make suggestions to each other on what food finds we have found work well ( sleeve portions, low carb favorites, meal ideas, snack ideas, etc.,Anything you feel is helping you, we all want to know about it. Lately, I am having a lot of trouble exercising. I've done the same thing for so long, I am just sick of it. I need some new routines. I've done the elliptikill and the same weight machines for so many years, I think my body doesn't even consider it exercise anymore. I am a big baby about exercising alone, so that's why I choose these machines. I can do it by myself, and watch tv at the gym. I wish I had the money for a trainer to show me some new stuff . I'd like to learn what to do with the kettlebells, but I feel stupid swinging them around not knowing what I am doing. I have the same problem with the free weights. I hope this thread takes off and we can all motivate each other.

Wow. With the exit of so many vets...

Can someone fill me in on what happened here? I didn't sign in for a long time when I broke my back and eventually had surgery. I came back and the whole site is different, and not necessarily better. I heard a lot of the vets left and I don't know why. There were a lot of us who liked to keep in touch. Now I have no way to reach any of my online friends. I really miss Cowgirl Jane. Can anyone explain what the heck happened to everyone? I Know it's difficult when a lot of the forums have all the wls surgeries mixed together. RNY, Band and sleeve don't have much in common other than we are thinner.

Wow. With the exit of so many vets...

Yes, I need to start working out. I need to strengthen my core. So, I have to start doing exercises at home. I know how to exercise, I just preferred to do it at the gym. It doesn't make sense for me to join the gym again when there's so many of the machines I can't use. My back surgery caused me to lose my appetite for a long time so I did lose my regain and that's a really good thing!

Wow. With the exit of so many vets...

I am okay. I will never be the same. There is a big hole in my spine where the infection that was caused by the crumbled discs. I had to give myself IV antibiotics for 8 weeks and I am now on oral antibiotics for 6 months. I hate them. It's painful to walk, let alone work out. I loved working out and doing my exercises with weights. I am a lot flabbier than I was cause I lost a lot of muscle.
