Nacol got a reaction from Tracyringo in From Sleeve to Bypass Revision time
I’m 9 days PostOp and today I can finally say I definitely feel better. The first few days were really rough. Nothing like what I had experienced with the sleeve...that was a breeze in comparison because I this time around the gas pain hit my back. I already had back issues and adding gas pain to the mix did me in. The pain pills won’t work for gas pain so all I could take was GasX which didn’t last long. sleeping on my back for a long period of time at time is still a challenge since I’m a side sleeper. But the Dr prescribed me some Ambien which has helped. But most importantly I have No Acid Reflux!!! I’m happy.

I too am upset with myself after 8 years being sleeved, I’ve gained back about 55 lbs. However I remember I lost 120 lbs and I’m not putting on anymore. I have suffered w acid reflux from the sleeve and now awaiting approval for a revision. Hang in there....time for us to focus. To remember the why I have a pic of me at my highest weight.

Just stumbled upon this topic/thread. Wondering how you're doing now? Did you have your revision surgery? I'm currently waiting to have revision sleeve to bypass surgery due to severe acid reflux too!

    Hello!
I'm officially in the revision family! Everything went well and I arrived home earlier today. Your posts helped so much because from the time I was out of recovery, I walked every hallway that I could every 3 hours. It really helped with the pain and gas. Well, I'm seven pounds heavier than when I went in but...has to be Fluid from the IV ' I only drank 30ml at a time! Just following up.

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's posts. After 10 years of the 'Band', I've decided that I must move on! Started with highest weight pre-band at 236, lost 70 pounds and things were great. Somewhere along the way, I was too tight (constant vomiting) or too loose (ate everything). Could never get back to the green zone. I gained all the weight back plus 4 pounds! So, tomorrow I am officially separating from the band and entering a new relationship with the sleeve. Please, supporters, wish me the best and hopefully my nervous jitters will calm down.

Nacol reacted to catwoman7 in Am I getting too small? *Warning graphic photos*
BMI of 22 is not underweight. Plus many of us who reach normal BMI look pretty scrawny for awhile, and then things sort of redistribute and we start looking more filled out and healthy. Plus, at six months out, you're still in that "magical time" when things seem effortless and the weight keeps falling off. That ends for almost all of us. I got too thin and thought I'd NEVER be one of those who regained weight. Ha! Wrong. Gained it in year 3 without even trying. Now it's a huge, daily struggle to maintain (my weight is still fine, but I'm 20 lbs heavier than I was at my lowest (which admittedly was too low), and I struggle every day to stay there). So enjoy it while it lasts...
(p.s. don't take this to say you need to lose more - you don't. You're good. But this amazing time period won't last forever, as I'm sure you know...so just keep it in mind)

    Hope all is well
Here in Australia in my state we are starting to ease covid-19 restrictions opening some shops this week and cinemas and gyms and restaurants next month but still with social distancing and limits on numbers.
I've been well and everyone I know and love is well.
Anyway just want to summarise my journey for those who are new.
I started my weight loss journey 8.5 months ago at 322lbs and I had roux en y bypass 6.5 months ago.
From day one I chose to go cold turkey and cut out all the bad food sugar fat carbs and lived off Protein Shakes religiously for months.
By surgery day I was 257lbs and I've now technically been in maintenance a few weeks and this morning I'm 168lbs most days between 168/170lbs and have been that way for a few weeks; finally starting to feel good about myself that's a total of 154lbs gone.
Now when I look in the mirror I do not recognise myself anymore it's amazing to see how small I look now.
Everyone in my family is so happy for me because I spent half my life obese and unwell mentally not just physically but now my mental health is improving because I no longer dislike what I see in the mirror; is amazing how much my brain has changed now that I'm healthy and skinny.
I've only just started experimenting with food more than past 2 months and have relaxed in the carb counting/calorie counting but still quite aware of my daily intake.
i will admit I've had a few treats here and there in the past month but it literally has not affected me weight loss at all.. It's like I have a completely new metabolism..
I love coffee and I feel great mentally and physically and I cannot wait to meet a nice young lady who will appreciate me.
I'll be 36 in 11 weeks and I'm feeling better than I have in 20 years I personally think and feel like I'm going to be 26 hehehehehe
I've got a few photos to show you guys and I appreciate honest comments from the ladies
(it's not easy to take photos & get good angle of myself but I did my best)
    Thank you.
If you have any questions about my bypass or anything feel free to comment or PM.
Starting BMI 43.3 current BMI 22.7
    Love Mikey xx

Nacol reacted to ladybug76 in Emergency Surgery - Adhesions & Intestinal Oclusion
Hello there! Got revisión to RNY from sleeve on november 28th 2019 due to GERD and hiatal hernia. Got gallbladder removal at the same time.

Got emergency surgery on May 3rd 2020 (10 days ago)

A day before I felt sick, sharp pain in my tummy that came and went from a 5 to solid 10.
Started vomiting at 5pm for a nonstop 12 hours period

Arrived dehydrated at hospital, got a CT scan and fortunately they were able to fix me on time, before Any complication presented, like removing intestine or staying in ICU

Adhesions covered my intestine at the jejunojejunal anastomosis (the spot where they stitch/unite 2 pieces of intestine) and so producing an intestinal oclusion.

I was so scared and in pain. Thank God I am now recovering at home.

Any one with similar experience out there?

I would love to hear on intestine rehab, what you ate after and how long did it take you to be yourself again

My best wishes to all journeys taking place all around the world. Be safe!

P.s. Excuse my writing. I am mexican (spanish native language) and obviously my english is so rusty

Hey, it got better, yeah! The foam is gone and the pain is gone from swallowing. So now to concentrate on getting liquids and Protein. Not really hungry which is good. Going to try and get myself on a food schedule.

Nacol reacted to Jessiejess1973 in Revision - 4 Weeks In
So I had a sleeve to bypass revision on 3/11. I am so lucky I had it when I did because of this virus. Anyway, I was worried because with my sleeve I lost 118 in a year and heard with the revisions it is much slower. Like everyone else, I want my excess weight gone as quickly as possible. Well, I am happy to to say I’ve lost 18lbs in 4 weeks. It’s a little slower than it was with my sleeve, but still, 18 POUNDS!!! I already can see the difference and I’m back in size 12’s. The only issue I’ve had is with my pain pump incision. I seem to have an abscess under it but that isn’t related to weight loss. I’m really happy with my progress so far. So I’m posting this for anyone who is worried about weight loss being hard after a revision. It’s not. I’m happy to say I’m a loser again!! I’m feeling much more restriction with my bypass. I’m also making healthier choices this time around whereas last time I ate whatever the hell I wanted and I know that’s why I had a regain. I learned nothing about how to eat healthier. I’m eating things like broiled vegetables and tilapia and salmon which I thought I wouldn’t like but holy crap is it good! I feel so good this time around, like I’m going to keep it off this time because I’ve actually learned from my first failure. So, my fears are subsiding and I feel fantastic. No worries at all. YAY!!!
    Take care fellow losers!!

Ok, so here is a interesting anecdote. When I reached goal (127), i was constantly getting the comments that I was too gaunt/skinny/sickly looking. And I guess I even I thought that way to a certain extent.
Now I am 12lbs lighter than that weight and I look waaaaaaay better (both in my opinion and others).
I *think* that most people find that you start to fill out a bit (or the weight re-distributes, or something?) when weight loss phase is over. Another theory is that I added some carbs back into my diet after goal, and that contributed to "puffing" me up in my face and other areas to look me less gaunt.

So 15 days post op. I'm doing good. I have yet to experience any pain- thank goodness!!! Drains came out at 6 days. I went back at 13 days and they drained Fluid but couldn't get it all then when back at day 14 and they were able to drain a bit more. I have a follow up on day 20- said prob drain more. Be glad when swelling goes away. I wasn't prepared for that part of it. Pants don't fit like they did but I know it's temp. Was told to wear compression around clock to help with swelling. Also for anyone having this I was having a horrible time getting stood straight up again and when I went in at day 13 the nurse gave me the best trick ever! Toes touching wal and walk ur arms up to u feel a slight pull then hold and continue to ease ur way up and hold- I do this several times a day but I walked out of that office straight and it made a world of difference!!!! Hope it helps someone!!!! Some of my steristrips are starting to lift. Just looking forward to being back to normal:)

@Justwant2behealthy, I too was an emotional mess before my surgery; you have all kinds of unanswered questions going through your head and a bunch of "what ifs" and this is totally normal. I did a lot of praying before surgery. I am glad that I had it done and wish I would have done it sooner. Everything will be fine and just think how much better you will feel after. am post of 7 weeks and down 36lbs.
    Good Luck
