    power plate

    Hmmm never heard of it.

Gotta take more meds and mad about it

Well, once your cholesterol is at good levels the medicine should be discontinued. Just a small bump in this wonderful journey.

    Why sugar free?

The other reason for sugar free is that some of us tend to "dump" on sugary foods. I am one of those people that do not tolerate sugar post op. And it has been 4 months...

    Sleeved today

Remember..;.Walk and then walk some more. That seems to be the only way to get the excess pressure to subside. In these first few days, concentrate on getting your Fluid in. It's going to be harder than you think, but soon you feel start to feel better and better. Enjoy this new journey!
  5. Ok, its 1215 am. I think Ive finally exhausted my brain enough to attempt sleep again.. Nite all!

Are We Doing Atkins After Being Sleeved????

Like Tiff and a few others have said, follow what works best for you. And this may be something that takes you a little while to figure out. Of course, follow surgeon instructions. But tailor your plan to meet your specific needs. I lose best low carb, but I will go Nucking Futs if I constantly deny myself. So....every once in awhile I will take a bite of that muffin, or have a small square of that chocolate. This is what keeps us sane. Besides, we can eat so very little, one bite will not kill us. Of course, this can be a slippery slope as well. Just listen to your body... Best of luck to ya!

    Small request

I have the little ticker bar that tells ya how far out I am. I did this mostly to remind myself how long it has been lol. I notice that I can only manage 2-3 bites protien, and very seldom have any room left for veggies.

    Always Hungry

Try warm or hot liquids .. I find it gives me a full feeling. Early on I was feeling "hungry" alot . I followed the advice on this forum and increased my fluid intake as well as started a PPI (Nexium). This helped lots. Now, I am NEVER hungry. I actually have to set the timer on my phone to remind me to eat and drink. So strange for someone who used to eat non-stop.

    Half Way to Goal

That is awesome.. I had surgery a month after you. It still amazes me how little time has passed, and how far we have come. I love this tiny tummy tool!!!

    NSV and Struggles

You are doing awesome. My philosophy on this is that we are all going to slip up. But its how we catch ourselves and move on that matter. Old habits are extremely hard to break. This is definately a learning adventure!
  11. Try different seasonings. That's what helps me. When I get bored, I'll go to the store and find a different seasoning, then try it on everything. My latest one...Creole Seasoning. Love it!
  12. Dont let your friends discourage you. Until they have walked in the shoes of an overweight person, they have absolutely no clue what we deal with. I would just say, jump through all the hoops and try not to get overwhelmed with "what if's" as far as approval goes. It might end up being an easier process then you think. I was worried too and put off seeking surgery for over a year. When I finally went for it, I was approved in 2 weeks and had surgery within a month from the date I first met with my PCP. I have found that a little bit of determination, knowledge and "pushiness" on the patient's part can go a long way!

    I was approved today!

Thank you for sharing your story. It will be interesting to follow your progress. Best wishes for your new journey, dont forget to keep us all posted...

    OH NO!!

Just be thankful that your surgeon is taking precautions. You dont want to go in not knowing all the possible complications, road blocks. And at least now he can go in and plan on fixing the hiatal hernia. During my surgery, he repaired hiatal hernia and removed my gallbladder due to evidence of chronic inflammation. You will do great. Congratulations on your upcoming journey!

    This is getting expensive

    Expensive, maybe. Awesome, definately! Congrats!

    Ghrelin and memory / learning?

I too noticed this, and was started on Ritalin for Adult ADD. But for me, it could just be another side effect of my lupus. Who knows!
  17. I started my Lupus meds today. Talk about side effects from hell. But....I am still so grateful for my weight loss and the fact that although I am dealing with a chronic illness that should have been diagnosed years ago, I feel so much better. I feel like I can tackle this obstacle, and any others thrown my way. Bring it on!!!!

    My butt hurts!

The funny thing is, DH and I were just discussing this earlier. Even though I still have roughly 60 lbs to lose, my butt is bony. It's still nice and round, (TMI I know..) but them butt bones hurt... LOL
  19. I agree that communication with you and the surgeon is key. Even if there is a bit of a language barrier. Warm/Hot fluids tend to help with the hunger feelings. Also, you might try doing the 5 Day Pouch test to get you back on track. I know it is used mostly by RNY patients, but it would help rid your body of the carb cravings, etc. You might find that it all boils down to self control... I know that doesnt sound fair, since you went through the surgery. But...this is just a tool. Keep your head up, and your mind open
  20. Hi all, I started this journey at 252 lbs. Today I am at 197. That is 55lbs. lost in 3.5 months. I am loving that! The main reasons for me getting VSG were: - of course, inability to lose weight on my own -severe joint pain -muscle weakness/fatigue -depression -zero energy I went into this extremely excited that once the lbs started to come off, I would start to feel human again and enjoy life. And for the most part, this is true. However... The above mentioned symptoms were always dismissed by my MD as "just a side effect of your weight". No investigative tests were done to rule out other underlying issues. Now that I have lost a significant amount of weight, I notice that I still have severe pain in my joints, muscle fatigue to point of failure 2-3 times daily, zero energy , and now fevers off and on every few weeks which ends in fever blisters on my lips, etc. I have also developed a new rash on my face, across my nose . Moving on....I went to a new PCP and she ran lots of labs. Turns out, I fit the clinical criteria to a "T" for SLE or otherwise known as systemic lupus. I have been referred to Rheumatology and I see them on Monday. Ive been started on Tramadol for pain, and Ritalin for Adult ADD/Fatigue as well as Ambien for sleep. I refuse to take the Ambien as it makes me feel like a zombie. I guess my whole point in this post is.....what the heck is next? Im feeling little discouraged.

    Frustrated...Just Venting....

Thank you for the encouraging words Amanda. I started on Plaquenil yesturday. That is one nasty drug. Hopefully it helps.

    Frustrated...Just Venting....

Thank you for the response. As far as the meds, I really don't want to take them. I hate any kind of medicated feeling. When I go for my Rheumatology appt on Monday, maybe I will get some answers.

    drinking after/well eating

Remember your pre-op teaching? When they stressed no liquids 30 minutes before and after meals? The discomfort is why! I am like you. I didnt want to just take the doc's word for it....so I drank with my meals. And I was MISERABLE... Follow all the guidelines your doc gave you, to a "T". The guidelines are there for your safety, not just to overload your brain with do's and don'ts. Keep your head up!
  24. Your tummy is so confused right now. It has no clue wth you just did to it. I personally struggle with a lack of desire to eat. So...I set my timer to remind me to eat. And when I do eat, I make sure the flavor is strong, this helps entice me. Keep going, and day by day Mr. Tantrum will chill out a little more.
