Hello, I got the procedure done 3 weeks ago in Mexico. I’m back in the States and still feeling very full and nauseous all the time. I’m vomiting every evening before going to bed. I started with the liquid diet for a week, then the bland diet, but now had to go back to the liquid cause my stomach can’t take anything else. Has anyone had this problem? Does it last for much longer? Any tips on how to handle it? Any input would be greatly appreciated! **I've lost 15 lbs so far.

I'm sorry your going thru this. Sadly, I can relate. One of the reasons I got WLS was because of back issues and sciatica. It took me 18+ months of complaining to get an MRI ordered thru my doctor. If you want one I would suggest taking your chances with the emergency room as they are usually more willing to do expensive tests. I can't help but wonder if some of my back problems could've been prevented had my doctor found the herniated discs, bulging discs and stenosis sooner. Pain management hasn't been terribly helpful for me either. Noone will prescribe me anything since my condition is chronic. Surgery isn't likely to help, so my only options are PT and epidurals. The first one didn't help much. I hope you get answers and help sooner. Do not assume it will heal on it's own. You may need to switch to a different doctors office altogether. December surgery

Any folks with a December surgery date traveling for Christmas? Mine is on the 5th and I want to make a 3 hour drive to visit family for the holidays. It’ll be about 18 days after my surgery. Any insight on traveling after surgery?

Nerves ahead of Dec 5th surgery

I fully understand. The psychological aspect of all of this can be rough to handle & many ignore it. I'm in a support group with Kaiser, we meet/talk every week & that helps me a ton. I truly feel being in a positive headspace is just as important as our dietary discipline

    Meds and water

This is a great question! Are crackers enough? I always take my meds about 30 min after I eat but I don’t have to worry about eating when I take them. I would definitely call your Dr to see what they suggest & then let us know what they say!

    Waiting

I dropped 50+ lbs pre-surgery by cutting out all foods containing sugar, flour, white potatoes, rice, and processed foods. These are my trigger foods. I consider myself to be a sugar/food addict. I can never go back to eating these things with abandon. I started using the Baritastic app. I occasionally used liquid protein shakes during that period. My calorie count dropped to around 1000 per day. I attended water exercise classes three days a week, including swimming 1/4 mile each time. I also increased my mileage on my walking tricycle to at least a mile a day. I've lost another 50+ lbs since my RNY>RNY revision surgery. I still strive to avoid my trigger foods. It's harder to resist now and weight loss is slow going, but I'm still dropping a few pounds a month with lengthy stalls.

    December 2022 Buddies

Everyone has these pre op nerves, we just would not be human if we didn't. I was so ready for the surgery and so sick of the pre op diet that I couldn't get to the theatre quick enough. The night before however I didn't sleep too well but I told myself to pull up my big girl pants and said bye for now to my family with a lump in my throat. Its safe surgery now adays.

    August surgery buddies!

Yes!!! It's soo frustrating!! I'm taking biotin, b12, using minoxidil and a lot of hair stuff for the loss, but its even staring to show. Recently dye it a different color, knowing that eventually I'll have to cut it. My hair length is past my back, it was one of the few things I used take pride for, so long, shiny and healthy. I have BCBS of Illinois and they covered everything but $1500, and my secondary covered $1200 of that. So I only had $300 out of pocket. They approved my surgery within 48 hours of my surgeon's office submitting everything. From my 1st appt to my surgery date was 2 1/2 months. BCBS only required 1 pre op and 1 post op nutritionist appt, 1 psych eval, approval letter from my neurologist (because I have MS), approval letter from my PCP, having tried at least 2 methods of weight loss in the past (my PCP knew about me doing keto and also low/no calorie and put that in the approval letter). So it was a fast and painless process. My surgeon's office wanted the blood work and EKG before surgery. BCBS approved every test with no issues.
