Of course you'll need to contact your Surgeon and discuss with them- it could be any number of things. In my circumstances, I was in a lot of pain after surgery (expected) but it didn't let up after a few weeks. I was thinking I was just a wimp but ended up in the hospital with an infection on Thanksgiving Day. I didn't realize how painful an infection could be. Hope you're pain free soon!

I weigh myself daily. It helps me identify trends and ensure I'm doing everything right. Just don't focus on daily data, try to compare by the week or by the month.

    Hurtful reactions to progress

I was very upset at first, when I got reaction from my family about my weight loss. I quickly realized they felt left behind, but who's fault is that? I have been wanting to share my surgery and weight loss with others, but I am 100% sure I will get the same reaction, so I haven't said anything. And I'm not sure when I will smh......... This has been the best early Christmas gift I could have ever given myself.

    No Stall - Anxiety

Maybe you won't have a stall. Not everyone does. I just reviewed my weight record and I only had one week where my weight stayed the same. That was at the 5 month mark. My losses weren't huge every week but were losses. I reached my original goal in 9 months and my personal goal in 11 months so not fast but I got there slow and steady! I'm actually maintaining below my goal now and I still follow the guidelines I was given as far as getting enough protein and drinking enough water. I still track my food to make sure I'm doing the right thing! Statistics say year 3 is the time when most people start having regain and I'm determined to not let that happen because I just paid a a pretty good price for plastic surgery and plan to have more this year! I'm a couple of months into year 3 and so far so good!

Hi there! I had my surgery in March 2019 and I've never regretted it for a second. Your post-op eating plan will be up to your surgeon but almost everyone is back to a regular diet by the six week mark. For me, it was one week of clear liquids, one week of full liquids, then two weeks of soft food and then to regular food, as tolerated. "Regular" is relative though, my surgeon's eating plan is moderately low carb, so no bread, rice, pasta or sweets. I can't lie, the pre-op liquid diet sucked. It was tough but I powered through it (with one slip along the way). The post-op liquid diet wasn't hard for me at all because I had no hunger. I didn't even want food in those first few days. I'm not sure about the protein shake, I buy ready-to-drink, LOL. I've lost 124 pounds, my health is much better, I have my mobility back, I can shop anywhere, I was able to have the knee replacement I needed, my overall quality of life is improved in every way. For me, it's more than worth it. Only you can weigh the pros and cons to decide if it's worth it for you, but it's rare to hear anyone say they regret having the surgery. I wish you well in making the best decision. Hugs. 🤗

Just an update : My surgery was Dec 15. RNY gastric -bypass : was walking around 2-hours after surgery, 1 night in hospital : Never nauseous, pain was MINIMAL ! NO gas cramps, My lower intestines' rumble from time to time but no pain. Since my surgery I have lost 20 LBs !!!!!! 8 days WOW I'm sure a lot of that has been water , but still nice to see.. I have no issues with anything I consume except really cold or hot stuff....so I just let it get to more of a normal temp. NO hunger at all, I have to remember to eat !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fluid intake are struggle to get to 32oz a day. I've had five surgeries before this one : appendix, molars, both knee meniscus tears, one knee twice. This by far has been a breeze compared the others : So each is different : but some of us come thru the procedure very well ! hope this is your case : BTW I was very Obese 380lbs 5"8"

I'm with you on this. I'm only 5 weeks post-op but have realised things I didn't know before my wls. I thought that I ate when I was "down" or depressed. Actually I've realised since surgery that I want to eat when I'm bored. But I've been more weepy than usual since surgery and I think that the sweet stuff must have been releasing serotonin which helped my mood [although it's hard to tell at the moment as the lockdown /situation we're in here is so depressing anyway]. I doubt that I will become addicted to exercise to fill the serotonin gap as I have never liked sport, so my only real option is not to have the trigger foods in the house at all.

    Don't it irks you when...

Don't it irks you when a former big person become a shamer? I have a coworker and she did not have a WLS but she had liposuction and a tummy tuck. And she always makes comments about bigger people (she's still sorta big just more shapely now). I went with her to get something to eat and she made a comment about every big person in line. Things like: "she know she needs a salad, I know that plate gotta weigh a ton" And when I called her out, she stated she was just teasing. I've worked with her for a while and I never heard her talk about people like that until she had her surgery. Now, she hasn't said anything about me to my face because she knows I will cuss her out. It just irks me. I decided not to go to lunch with her anymore because her energy is toxic. She finds joy in stepping on people which is kinda weird to me.

I love most flavors of Greek yogurt, but my absolute fave is this Caramel Apple Pie yogurt. Has chunks of baked apple in it and it really hits the spot!!
