    Weight gain.....

I have maintained my weight and it is work. I have to be very conscience of what I’m eating or I’ll gain. I track everything. I’m bored out of my skull half the time, my husband is working from home and youngest kid (21 yr old) are here 24/7. I love them dearly but I want them to leave (safely) like they used to! I won’t touch a gym with a 6 foot pole, mask or glove so I just keep busy and go on walks or bike rides. We have a lot more food stocked up than normal, we eat 90% of our meals here and it gets boring, repetitive and tough. I need new recipes! This is HARD mentally and physically, I understand 100% why someone would gain. I feel fortunate that this happened 16 months or so post surgery. I feel like I had time to develop good habits and coping skills (aka painting everything). I think everyone is doing their best in a really crummy situation.

Most insurance will pay for some skin removal but your doctor(s) have to document the need so start there. Otherwise here are my tips for raising funds: + second or third job + crowdsourcing + side hustles + estate sale + lottery + inheritance + sugar daddy 😂 Good Luck

August 18th I will be having my gastric band taken out and leaving time to heal before the actual VSG. I’m looking for a surgery buddy who will be having their VSG in October along with me...

    Still Winded

I'm about two weeks post op and was just wondering if it's normal not to have energy. I have some but not 100%. I don't feel like doing housework, I went to a couple stores and I had to sit a few times. When I get my walking in or force myself to do the chores, oh my, do I break a sweat quick! I'm eating broths and soups right now. I'm drinking every chance I get, take a protein shake in the am, soup for lunch and something blended in the pm. I take my vitamins and 2 pills, too. I guess I can tell my Dr. tomorrow when I see him. I go back to work in 2.5 weeks, so I hope this gets better. When do we feel back to normal energy wise?

    Body Lift Surgeon Recommendations?

None of this is cheap - The person I utilized had a 4 day minimum - I had 5 days at 6 hours at 750.00. For a city with a minimum wage is $15 an hour I really thought this was good. I paid under the table and direct - LPN Also my spouse was with me during the night It was really really really really marvelous for him not to have some of the care responsibilities... as I stated I wish I would’ve done this for my two previous procedures. The Private Duty picked me up from the hospital brought me home and got me situated, Plus helped me with bathing and brought me to a follow up appointment The days were not consecutive.

Gyms aren't open in a lot of places. They're not open in my city due to Covid.. and it is hot as hell here, so I walk when it gets dark and cooler. I wish gyms were open, but I probably wouldn't go anyway -- too much risk factor for the Covid.

you are not going to die. Gastric bypass has a 0.3% mortality rate, VSG is even less. So that means you have a 99.7% chance or better that you're going to get through it just fine. And you will. Those odds are excellent. My surgeon has been doing these surgeries for 30+ years and has never lost a patient. They'll put you through all sorts of medical clearances (if they haven't already) to make sure you're healthy enough for surgery. YOU WILL BE FINE! on the continuum of surgeries, VSG and RNY are among the safest surgeries there are. They're much safer than hip replacement surgeries, for example, and you know they do hip replacements every day, so... for that matter, people have died during tonsillectomies or wisdom tooth extractions. How often does that happen? Almost never. Same with weight loss surgeries. It's not going to happen. as for horror stories, quit reading them. Now. Major complications are very rare. Almost all of us have had either no complications at all, or very minor ones that are easy fixable (like a stricture). You will be fine. I know it's hard not to be afraid, but these are very safe surgeries with very little chance of major complications.

My doctor didn’t give me a goal, but there are studies that show that 27 is a healthy and comfortable BMI for many people, despite the charts recommending lower. My personal goal is 165. I have been that weight in my adult life and was happy there, despite my BMI being 27 and technically overweight. I think it really comes down to personal preference. I would rather not be super thin.

    Covid Test!

It's not terribly terrible...it's just an odd uncomfortable feeling. It may make your eyes water and you might feel like you have to sneeze afterwards, but there shouldn't be any real pain if they collect it right. Good luck!
