Does anyone experience SEVERE pain before and after vomiting? I would like to know if this happens to anyone else that is more than 4 weeks post-op. The first time this happened at 10 weeks post-op, I thought I had a leak or a rupture. I had VSG and I do not experience dumping syndrome. I was eating peanuts and then choked. I then starting experiencing EXTREME pain. I didn't know what was happening and I was in so much pain, I went to the ER and then vomit while I was there. I again experienced the horrible pain and vomiting today (11 weeks post-op) Unfortunately, I have PCS'ed (military move) away from my surgeon and I don't see my new surgeon until Wednesday. I will definitely be telling them about this but I am looking for some insight.

    So many questions

I started taking vitamins during my six-month supervised diet since my dietitian wanted me to get used to taking them (but I think it was just the multi she had me taking, now that I think of it...), but most surgeons, regardless of the surgery, will have you stop taking vitamins and any non-prescription meds a week or two before surgery. I had to stop taking them before both of my plastic surgery procedures, too - evidently some can thin the blood too much, which can interfere with the surgery. as for your anxiety meds (or any other prescription med), ask your doctor.

    So many questions

I would ask your doctor's office about the vitamins and the medications. Re; what I brought; A robe, earplugs and ear phones, phone and charger, e-reader, couple of magazines, eye mask, change of clothes with comfy yoga pants and an oversized sweater. Also I brought my own face cream, body cream and dry shampoo, of course toothbrush, hairbrush, etc. You can't take a shower for a few days, and the dry shampoo was nice to have. If you are staying in a hotel for a couple of days make sure you bring really comfortable stretchy pants, as the incision sites may be uncomfortable if anything is rubbing against them. Also, if you don't like certain kinds of protein drinks you may want to bring your own, but for the first few days you really need to hydrate more than worry about protein (as I learned the hard way when I got dehydrated!) I had surgery at 4:30 pm, got to my room around 7:30 pm and was up and walking the halls at 9:00 pm. The nurses really encourage you to get up and move to get the gas moving. I had blessedly little pain, so I did not take anything other than Tylenol and motrin after the recovery room. I'm sure if you are on heavier meds that may effect your mobility. Best of luck! Let us know how you are doing!

Hi Shawna, Are you pre or post op? This is only from my experience and information from my dietitian. Protein shakes, bars, bariatic store processed food supplements are for first stages when you can't eat enough food to hit your protein goal. My dietitian does not want patients dependent on protein shakes, bars or bariatric store products long term. Once you can hit your protein goal with real food there is no need for shakes etc... My hunger is not satisfied with protein shakes or add water meals. they are slider foods. They easily break down and slide through your new stomach. Real whole food keeps my hunger under control. All of us are busy. Some of us use a day off work to meal prep. Below is a link to the low to no cook thread for meal ideas.

Just ask your surgeon as soon as possible. Don't wait until February 28th because they will need to submit the change to uour insurance company (unless you are self pay.) Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein shake debacle

No you filled the tank to capacity and it is letting you know - You should be drinking them by the ounce not the glass, I suggest till you know your limits that you drink 2 oz every so often about 6 times a day You will get the hang of it - Slow down and take your time
