    Oops, ate too much

Well, that was a very unpleasant experience. Of course, I had read it wasn't pleasant by any means but stupidly wasn't eating 'mindfully' and was chatting to my husband while I ate and had one meatball too many (they were tiny teaspoon-sized super soft chicken meatballs). Anyway, I paid the price quite quickly and am absolutely hating this new way of vomiting. WHY is it just bile, dear god it is revolting! I didn't get pain so much as just the feeling that something was a bit stuck. So, lesson learnt, MINDFUL EATING IS A MUST lol

    LADIES ONLY PLEASE!

Again, it is because of oestrogen being released from fat cells, as well as other hormonal changes. It can happen even with the pre surgery diet. Or at different times in life if you have a sudden diet change that causes fat cells to start shrinking. Our bodies are such amazing things that we still just don't know enough about

a 30-40 lb weight loss the first month is the exception with "normal" WLS people. That's more common among people on shows like "My 600 lb Life", who start at way higher BMIs than most of us do.. I've been hanging out on this and other bariatric surgery boards for at least five years, and I would say the average loss for the first month is in the 15-25 lb range. I lost 16 lbs the first month, and I started out at over 300 lbs. So I'm not sure where you've been reading that, but even though it happens occasionally with us more "normal" WLS folks, it is definitely the exception.

Happened to me too! I started on green smoothies in the morning and it helped me to go to the bathroom and have more energy. I am losing inches!

    Leg swelling

It's both legs right? If it is one leg only then you would have a concern re a blood clot. If it is both legs I would call the MD re that symptom and the lab results. Look at you diet and see if you are eating a lot of high sodium lunch meats and if you are getting enough fluids.

    Looking for October Surgery Friends

Wow, the countdown is on! I’m so excited. I just can’t weight to rid myself of this excess weight. I’m still shedding my old favorite foods one at a time. I guess it really started to become “real” when I booked my flights. I’m no longer scared, well not really. Just excited. I had a financial issue that I thought my put the kybosch on my surgery. At least for a while anyway, but that will work itself out. I am flying south, like a bird in migration on 9/30. Off to Tijuana, Bariatric Pal Hospital, Dr. Illan and his wonderful staff. And there, I will receive a wonderful gift, a tool to help me recover that smaller, healthier person trapped inside.

You have done phenomenal. The only way to slow/stop your weight loss is to eat your maintaining food plan (Higher calories and adding more carbs) Switching to maintenance mode is not easy. Time to reassess what you are doing. Work on your head space to transition into maintenance mode. Your health is dependent on changing your diet to support your fitness level. Don’t burn muscle and undo all the work you put in. Many of us had to graze to get out maintenance plan calories or fuel for our fitness level. Your restriction will become less over time. It gets easier. Finding your balance takes time. You can exercise less as you learn to increase your calories. If you choose to be athletic you may want to hire a sports medicine dietitian. You have wiggle room to work your way into maintaining. 5’3” your healthy BMI zone is 105lbs to 141lbs. Choose a weight that you feel healthy at to maintain. My weight continues to drop after I started working out. The weight gain could be muscles which in turn will lead to more weight loss and a leaner look.
