    3rd day

Hiya all, I'm so happy to be on the other side, finally sleeved 4.29. Im curious if my experience so far is within normal. My surgeon used staples to ensure patients would come to week follow up. I'm pretty sore, but just on the incision to the right on my abd. I'm wearing a binder but when I stand up it feels like my guts will come out. I still need full help standing up. I cant fully stand upright bc of pain. Every sip of room temp water makes my stomach clench and spasm. I've had a low grade temp today 99.5 with a massive headache. Food smells are toooo much. Tried to sip Gatorade zero and it was to sweet. Sipped a little warm bone broth, that seems to be ok. I also had a moment where I had all these thoughts about being a failure, having to cut out parts of me to stop eating. Got really down on myself. Please someone tell me this is all normal. And thank you for listening. This place has been wonderful for support and info. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Protein shakes....🤢

With the Premier protein shakes ( well after surgery I mix them into coffee and tea as creamers, or blended with a tiny but of fruit & ice, But i figured these are safe for your preop phase) 🙌💃😘🌈

Omg! Same here! Thank you for the heads up because I don’t stop bleeding! TMI, I’m sorry! And I am afraid to get on birth control because I’ve been on them for so long before! But I also don’t want to get pregnant until after like 3 years! So I don’t know what to do. Thank you for the support. This forum has blessed my life!!!!

Hi Karenbb8! Congratulations on your surgery! I also had Dr Jawad! Isn't he great! I didn't have a sleeve but had the RNY GB. What you are feeling sounds completely normal. You might need to tighten up your binder a tad to help with the "guts falling out" feeling. I wore mine for a week then didn't need it any more. Also, sipping your fluids a little slower may help with the spasms. Don't be so hard on yourself . You are doing great! Just concentrate on healing and staying hydrated! It all comes together quickly and the pounds will start melting away! Just follow the rules they gave us and you will be successful!

Being able to buy clothes from a decent store good brands not just big and tall.. Being able to walk around for hours to keep up with my family. Being able to fit on rides better. Not dealing with sweat between rolls (tmi) Not being looked at everytime I go out to eat. Being able to run for more than 30 seconds. Well be nice to have some female attention for once! Fit people get treated better in every aspect of life especially when shopping! Being able to fit into my sports car better Being able to go hiking it's been about 6 years.. Being able to save money on food and being a cheap drunk if I ever do drink. My biggest one is hopefully not to be hungry constantly every day, eating to live not living just to eat!

    Some post op questions.

Hello Teri, I think we mostly hear from people who are “miserable” because they require support and they come to this forum and are able to get it - which is great! That said there are those of us (lots of us I’m guessing) who have been fortunate to have near smooth sailing on this journey. I am just over 6 months post op. My recovery was smooth, I was back at work 4 days after surgery. I progressed through the stages as planned, am steadily losing weight and am closing in on a healthy BMI. I told nobody and somehow have managed to keep it that way (and yes, I do go out in public haha). To top it off, my mental health, confidence and energy are strong. I am already noticing a career impact (shame on society that this is even a thing), and I am able to say “yes” to fun things with my kids without worrying whether I’ll have the stamina to do it. My only small grumbles so far... my scars aren’t fading the way I had hoped (keloid maybe?), and I have been discarding clothing at an alarming rate ($$). Last night we ordered Thai food... normally I’d have a large plate loaded with all my favs. This time, a few bites and I was done... but my brain wanted more :( Also, yes, you’ll want to get water in and make protein a priority, but one of the best things about this surgery for me, was NOT continuing to obsess over my meals and the scale. I eat well and don’t beat myself up for an occasional small treat. I go weeks where I forget to jump on the scale. It is a part of my life, not my entire life. I in no way want to downplay the struggles and difficulty that some have had in this journey. I know how fortunate I am to have had it go so well!! Best of luck on your journey Teri... I’ll wish smooth sailing for you too!
