    Fear of death?

I did this also! Partially because there was some fear in the back of my mind about having major surgery. But the other part, was because if something did happen, my poor poor husband would be lost. He doesn't know a single password to anything. He doesn't know anything about our finances or what the first thing to do would be.

    Fear of death?

Oh, my! You great planners out there. I just winged it. And, like you, Ash, my husband doesn't know any passwords, doesn't even know the pin for the ATM. He walks into the lobby to get $. He doesn't know where on the computer I keep the financial files, hasn't looked at our taxes since we started filing electronically. Even before that he signed them blindly. Never asked about the numbers at all. I have always known I was going to die in a car accident (I really am a dreadful driver), I've even been in at least 3 accidents when my car wasn't even moving! So, dying from any other reason just doesn't process in my brain. Might be stupid and short-sighted, but there you go!

    Hello guys,

It absolutely does get easier with time. The first month or so for me was rough, not physically, but mentally. My kids would be cooking food or toasting bread and I'd just go full head hunger mode... I took a different approach than most it seems, I confronted the foods. I didn't stop anyone from eating what they wanted, I don't avoid certain isles at the market, I've stared down the candy rack during check out. And when my body was all like "yes, eat that, it's good" I'd correct myself, remind myself what those foods have done to me and how crappy they've made my life. It's hard, practicing some "Mindfulness" and "Mindful eating" as well as being honest with myself about what each food has done, has made it easier to deal with, for me anyway. You'll find what works for you, just gotta stick with it! You got this!

    Struggling!!!

Hey! Don't worry, I felt the same way and questioned my decision to undergo gastric bypass a few days after my surgery. I cried and all I wanted to do was sleep. It does get better. Vent on these forums...the members are great and we have all been there. Just remember why you chose to do WLS in the first place and you will be fine. Good luck! Message me anytime

    Hello New here ;) questions

That’s exactly why I’m leaving it as surgery and hard work. Both of those are true and quite frankly you are under no obligation to spill the beans just because someone else feels the need to be nosy. The lack of information is for them to figure out how to handle, not for you to do that. As you move through this process you’ll be able to recognize those you feel comfortable talking to and those you don’t. You’ll also start to feel more comfortable about the surgery itself as well. I know a lot of this is easy to for us to say and harder to do. But after I hit 40, I got to a point where I realized I was no longer going to feel obligated to do anything. I wish I would have lived my younger years that way. Lol
