most people take two weeks off, regardless of surgery. Some are OK going back after a week, some need three. I honestly don't think the type of surgery has anything to do with it - it's more the anesthesia, your body healing, and the very low intake of calories those first few weeks. Constipation is WAY more common than diarrhea with both surgeries.

    2 days post op

It gets better.yes keep walking a lot. It gets rid of gas pain and I used Gas X strips.. I did not have any nausea at all. Sugar free jello and sugar free Popsicles count as water intake as well. I am 6 months post op and loving it! Sent from my D6708 using BariatricPal mobile app

    How much can you eat?

My surgery was 7/31, so I am almost 5 weeks post-op. I am at the soft food stage. Some things, like Greek yogurt, I can eat almost 4 oz. Meats, "real food" I can eat a few bites, up to 2 oz on lucky days. My NUT wants only 3 meals per day with no snacking, am to fill up with water or protein drinks. I consume maybe 500 cal on good days. Am hoping it gets better. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using BariatricPal mobile app

    How much can you eat?

I too think that your calories are a little high. I am 3 weeks out and average 600 calories. My protein shakes help me get 70-90gm of protein. I just can't eat a lot! Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app

Good luck on your journey! I recently went clothes shopping because nothing fit anymore. Non-scale victories along the way are great motivators and I wish the same success for you!

I think for most people following surgery, fatigue is the biggest issue when it comes to going back to work. If you are relatively young and healthy, it may be less of a problem than for someone with age/other health issues. No matter what, try to build in little breaks if possible. Even 10 minutes of quiet with your feet up and your eyes closed can have a restorative effect. And it's really important to be able to keep hydrated!

My pre-op diet allows me to have one small meal each day, so I am still eating dinner with them. My dinner is just modified. I guess I have a week to figure out how to deal with it post surgery!

    Fainting and Vomiting

No, but I did call a relative who is in the medical field. What I experienced happens to many people. I was told to lie on my back with my feet high above my head, and that helped tremendously with the fainting. All of this has to do with some very large nerve. It did all come back when I would go to the restroom. I am better now, but I promise you all that I will talk to my surgeon about it. If it's not completely gone by tomorrow, I will go to the ER. I cannot tell you how much your replies mean to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
