    Smoking!!

Not only does it impede the healing process, it can also add to the risk of blood clots. I think I am more afraid of blood clots and leaks than I am anything else. I've been smoking a pack a day for a long time. My doctor told me to quit and I just did. It really does get easier. I figured if I can't quit smoking FINALLY then how am I going to be able to make the lifestyle changes I need to make. I'm a month with no ciggies (of course I'm eating everything in sight). When I think about smoking now I think about how much money I'm saving. $8.00 bucks a pack where I live, that is $240 per month - that's a car payment!!!!! Plus, my hair and clothes don't smell and I will hopefully have an easy recovery, no stroke, no clots, no healing issues and money to buy new clothes!!!! Good luck all!

I can't believe that I'm down 50 pounds since surgery on 11/22/16. I'm down 62 since 8/3/16. Best decision ever! I feel so much better and I can't wait until I can see the difference in my body. However, my clothes do feel bigger and I can comfortably sleep on my stomach lol so wins there! I can't wait to continue this journey. Question: Does/has anyone experienced incision pain more than 3 months after surgery? Just curious as I joined a boot camp and things such as burpees cause pain in my incision site. Thanks! Smoking!!

So, my doc requires a clean screen to even start the process. Im sure I will be tested again pre op. I have heard some docs will cancel as it increases risk of surgery and healing. That being said, how fast its out of your system depends on you...age..metabolism..how much you smoked. It coyld be as little as 3-5...or as long as 2 weeks to a month. I had a urine test...drank a lot of water, took niacin and cranberry tablets, and did not smoke for 16 days and was clean. I was a light smoker and was probably clean eaflier than 16 days but I did t want to risk a dirty test as it would have delayed me another 30 days. Good luck!!

    4 weeks post op

Almost 4weeks post op and I've tolerated most things I've tried. Lots of soups, cottage cheese, canned peaches, bananas, mashed sweet potato, yogurt, re fried beans, scrambled eggs, chicken and very lean ground beef. I add one or two new things every other day or so. Only thing I did not tolerate well was a soft crab cake I tried to make. Holding off on seafood for a little while.

    Smoking!!

Thank you. I have quit but it's only been since Friday and I don't plan on having another one hopefully ever again. I'm just wondering if they will test me and cancel my surgery if I don't pass because it will only of been a few days since my last cigarette when I go for my pre-op.

    4 weeks post op

I'm 5weeks post-op and I found that Boca veggie burgers, Greek vanilla yogurt, 93%lean ground beef meatballs, and baked chicken breast shredded worked well for me. Shrimps, fish and eggs too.

    Just Venting

My husband and I were sleeved at 67, almost 4 years ago. He has lost over 100 lbs and it has added years to his life, as well as quality of life. Diabetes had destroyed my peace of mind as he got older. We live normally now, and seriously eat to live. Sure I miss chicken and dumplings, biscuits, gravy, etc. but I refuse to bring that stuff in my house. Wish we had known about the sleeve 25 years ago when we started going to WL Seminars. I still watch My 600 lb Life, to remind myself what food can do to one'S body and life. Do this for your daughter. If you are ready to let her be the focus of your life, not food. ❤️

    GERD after Gastric Sleeve Surgery

I had GERD before surgery, knew it may get worse and chose to go forward with the sleeve. Not gonna lie, it was a total pain in the butt early out. I was regurgitating everything I ate and drank the first 6 weeks out, so was kept on liquids for 6 weeks. Now at 16 months out, it's minimal. I still take a PPI everyday, and will pop a chewable tums every now and then for occasional (once or twice a month) heartburn, but it's manageable. Very happy with the sleeve!
