I am going through the menopause right now. I lost slowly in comparison to some but others may have lost slower than me, its all relative. I do know I have lost almost 100lbs since starting last year and I feel fantastic!

So far so good and looking forward to my soft foods phase however I will not go out and buy a lot of groceries this time. I will add some things that I would like to try and keep going with what I have. Some things are still hard to get down. I guess the best way to look at it is try new things see what works and what doesn’t but then understand that there are no time limits and you can always come back to eating what you have later. I’m realizing I’m about to save a lot of money.

    What should I do .........

Hi Bariatric Friends ...... I would like to lose approx. 28 kgs. I have just lost 9.5 kgs. in 10 weeks with Slimming World. I have been discussing Bariatric Sleeve surgery but my daughter is so against me having it done. She says that I will never again be able to enjoy a family meal or a meal out .... that I am not heavy enough to have Bariatric Surgery .... that I can lose this weight by watching my food intake and not necessarily having a bariatric sleeve, which is quite drastic. I have a neurological auto-immune illness, which has caused my weight gain - I was very thin until the onset of this illness. I am on lots of (weight inducing) medication. I am going to be taking this medication for life. I am now wondering whether Bariatric Surgery or basic diet change is the way to go. There is no guarantee that I will lose weight even if I become anorexic because of my illness and the associated medication. Would you recommend surgery or just diet management for my situation. If I could get my jaws wired for a time I could find out if I'm going to lose enough weight to make me happy ...... Thanks in advance for your advice ....... I'm very confused !!

Me too. I think it's just gravity, plus it's trying to heal in there. Sent from my SM-T810 using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes! I have the exact same situation going on! My surgery was the 27th of March. I feel a sharp pulling pain when I try to sleep on my side, so for 10 days I have been sleeping on my back. I have a bruise the size of a luncheon plate around my belly button. It is huge, dark, and gross!!! I think the pulling pain will just take time to go away. Best wishes! Truly blessed

Hello all, I am finally joining a weight loos group. After my mother and others from my own support group have told me how I’m here to inspire others and help them along their journey. I have had the Sleeve with Duodenal switch for two years now. February of 2017. The highest I ever saw on a scale was 575. And I’m sure it’s been ten pounds or more over that at some point in my life. And being that Heavy at such a young age (26) and starting my own family. I knew I had to change. But I also knew I couldn’t do this alone. Thanks to Dr. Scott and the surgery I am down 350 pounds have gone from a size 64 pants to a 34. 6xlt shirt to a large. In just 2 years. I wish I had some secret to give everyone on here and to tell you it’s gonna be easy. It’s not. The easiest thing about all of this is getting the surgery. After that it’s all uphill. Learning your new body. Slowly Discovering new loves and hates for foods. Trial and error as to what sits well with your stomach and what doesn’t. Trust me. Your body will let you know. Listen to it!!

    No pizza for 4-5 months???

Most people do good on strict diets as long as the rewards are rolling in big (i. e. fast weight loss). Most people don't do good on strict diets as soon as the rewards stop rolling in big (i. e. the fast weight loss stops).

    My birthday gift to me

A year ago, I was getting ready for gastric sleeve surgery. I was tired, fat and unhealthy. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was in insulin dependent diabetic. I was on antidepressants. January 9, 2018 was the day my life changed. And now I’m LIVING! i work out 5-6 days per week, I love kickboxing! I’m down nearly 100 lbs and I feel younger than ever. I’m off all medication and according to my lab work, I’m a whole new woman. For those of you who are considered sugery, DO IT! Be ready to change everything about your current life. My biggest obstacle has been my brain. Changing the way I think about life. About food. About who i have in my life. I found my life. My value. Find yours!!

Hi there. I have really gotten used to portion control for sure !!! I stick to protein first and don’t drink anything within 45 minutes before or after eating ... NEVER. I eat my protein first then try to take a couple of bites of the other stuff. I have learned that I have to stop eating and give myself about 5-10 minutes to determine if I am full or not. For some reason , my brain doesn’t register it with the food in front of me and while I’m eating. .. weird. So I rely on myself to stop and wait and decide if I can’t take a few more bites. Sometimes , I will get up and walk around or walk outside or to the bathroom or something like that so I don’t just sit there on front of the plate of food. Why ??? Because it’s STILL a struggle. That’s what I want people to know ..... it’s not magic. Your hunger for food doesn’t go away. Your desire to taste good food doesn’t go away. It’s still there. You just have to learn to deal with it. I wake up every day and day “ ok, we got this “ ..... truly is a change of life and how you have to view food. It’s fuel not comfort. Now don’t get me wrong ... I don’t want to scare anyone and make anyone think that I haven’t indulged. I absolutely do have a couple of bites of ice cream once a week. Or I eat a cookie once a week. Or I take a couple of bites of desert every now and then when I’m out dining. But it’s a treat and it’s only usually a bite or two at the most just to satisfy me and help me not feel deprived.
