Just placed an order for $118.40US for 2 households (mine and my mom’s) the following- 5 English cucumbers, 3 12pk 12oz of gatorade zero, 4 6pk Diet Pepsi, 1/2 gallon chocolate milk, 1/2 gallon skim milk, Texas toast cheese bread slices, 1 jar Classico pasta sauce, 100ct paper plates, 1 tub sugar free vanilla ice cream, 1 3pk Sargento balance breaks (cheese and almonds), 1 30pk capri sun drinks, 4 red/orange bell peppers, 2 Keebler fudge stripe cookies, a bag of US smarties, 2 6pks viva paper towels, 1 gallon dill pickles, 1 bunch vine ripe tomatoes, 2 broccoli crowns, 1 pint blueberries, 1 skinny pop white cheddar, 2 6oz blackberries, 2 8ct gogurt tubes, and a bag of takis. And I’m absolutely hating that it’s costing that much. 😭 5 years ago it would’ve been half that. -
Omg your so inspiring, sending blessings and love, always💗

I am 13 years out from surgery, lost and kept 125lb off. I have noticed that I do get more attention but over the last 10 years there has been more acceptance on body type. Currently I am 150lb with a lot of excess skin, Mainly the arms, stomach, and thighs. It's easy to hide in clothes but when it gets down to being naked it's a whole other look. What I think is important is confidence. When I was dating usually the comment I would get is how little I eat and that's a great segway for me to bring my story up. With that said, I have been with the same individual now for several months. What's different is that while I am fluffy and have skin that can be flying in the wind, my partner is a professional MMA fighter who hits the gym everyday and keeps his body in prime shape. We are both in our 40s. At first I was worried about my excess skin. That was very shallow of me to think and a hurdle I had to jump over. While on the inside I am very confident I know I am different looking than most physically (as not many are out there around me with such excess skin). I did have a couple of conversations with him about it and what it boils down to is who you are on the inside. I even brought up that I could have the excess skin removed and he commented on and asked why I would go through so much pain for an image when what matters is my personality. I think that's what partners should focus on. Physical is only temporary.

February 2024 Surgery Buddies?

It helped me. So many things were just making me nauseous and I was struggling. Definitely need ice though to take a little of the carbonation out and just like everything else take it slow. -

That's what I was wondering... if it might help my stomach when I'm nauseous. -

I have had some soda and can tolerate it with ice. Some are easier than others. I tried it because I was so nauseated and sprite or mt dew settles my stomach. -

Sounds super expensive Arabesque. Absolutely beats me how people are expected to eat even remotely healthily. Especially people on lower budgets. A tax on sugary and ultra processed foods that directly subsidises fruit and veg maybe? -

Oh I eat a variation on this all the time. Without the bread though - that still sits in my stomach like a lump of lead. Avocado and (for me fried) egg is a match made in heaven. And yes, you have to have some seasoning. 🤩 -

Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you can get back on top of things and stay where you want to be. I agree pouch resets sound drastic - we've all done boom and bust a million times. I hope you can incorporate better choices now that you've identified what's happening. I also weigh myself every day. If I'm gaining I need to know. Whether I choose to do something about that, or when, is up to me, but I need the data! I put on 5lbs over the winter and I am keeping a beady eye on that. Seems to have settled again for now so I'm not panicking and just putting it down to third year regain. Your post is encouraging me to remain vigilant though. -

Has anyone tried to drink soda? I haven't had one since last October and lately have such a craving for it. I'd probably hate it! I'm pretty sure most docs/programs say no soda, but I'm curious. -
Calories and weight loss at 6 months Post OP
Spinoza replied to wendywitch7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm the same height as you but not the same starting weight. I lost less than half what you have in the first 6 months - around 60lbs - not including my looooonnnnng pre-op diet. I continued to lose consistently for around 2 years, although the second year was a total of 11lbs (I think) so when I got close to my new set weight I was losing a pound a month, that's major fun but still a loss, LOL. From memory I would have been eating around 800 calories a day at 6 months so 900-1000 sounds completely spot on. Sounds like you're doing absolutely amazingly. -

Hello! Nice to meet you! I see you're in the UK. We have some wonderful friends who live in Leeds. We met them on a cruise several years ago. We hit it off immediately. We took a tour to Ireland and Scotland last year and spent one day in Liverpool and they drove over to see us. It was so special! Love the UK. As far as shakes, the only ones I have stocked up on are Fairlife chocolate shakes. I have tried several other brands, and they are the tastiest. I bought a case at Costco, but they are available from Amazon also. I think we need to try to stay as bust as possible for the next few weeks to keep the anxiety at arms length. -

I believe I only restarted raw veg at around 5 or 6 months (I might have had lettuce and *maybe* cucumber before that) but luckily I didn't have any problems at all.

Loads of useful suggestions here (as ever!) Seems such a long time ago now. I am the exception to the rule - after 2 weeks of pre-op protein shakes and 2 weeks of post-op liquids my first pureed meals were like the tastiest things I've ever had. I lovvvved them. I basically pureed a selection of whatever my family were having (I cook for everyone) with a bit of extra liquid (gravy was best) and gobbled it all down! Saved a couple of tiny portions (like a tablespoon or two) for my other meals that day or the next and hit my protein goal mainly from protein yoghurts and protein shakes. Strangely I didn't have soup until the next phase but it's still a big go-to for lunch now, especially with lentils for added protein.

Aqua fit is the best fun and exercise for old knees but like you, after 10 years of doing it, my pool has closed. I cried. Now I just walk. I keep to the flatter areas. I also find shopping in the city is quite good because I walk miles, in and out of stores and all around the markets. I buy very little but enjoy the browse.

What you should know about WLS they don't tell you
summerseeker replied to BlondePatriotInCDA's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am not sure if its the same around the world but our milk comes in 1,4 or 6 pint plastic containers. The inner seal, under the cap has me every time. I used to be so strong, my hubby would pass jars to me to open. Now they put seals on toothpaste tubes that I have to pull off with my teeth. My dentist would go berserk if he knew -

I don't have great knees and had to do PT for a very messed up knee. They always had me on the bike for a warmup. I bought one for about $150 that folds so it doesn't take up too much space and you can adjust the tension and go at your own pace. Easy to just set up in front of the TV or throw on some music. YouTube also offers some free chair exercises while you are waiting on the DVD versions. There are tons actually. Chair yoga etc for all activity levels. Also if you can manage, there are low impact walking type workouts that usually don't involve much in the way of bending.

Seafood sticks are 18 calories each and I have 4 so that's 72 total calories. Mozzarella I have is 90 calories for 30g so the 40 grams is 120 calories So that works out at 2.25 seafood stick 72 calories? 1.5 mozzarella 120 calories 3.7 breast 200 calories .05 pepper 30 calories 1.35 shrooms 30 calories 1.76 onion 18 calories 2 medium size hard boiled eggs 60 calories each total 120 Total 470 and that 2 times a day is 940 a day plus the 2 eggs is 1060 calories a day I think
-
Can't get everything but in converting to ounces: 2.25 seafood stick 200 calories? 1.5 mozzarella 175 calories 3.7 breast 200 calories .05 pepper 30 calories 1.35 shrooms 30 calories 1.76 onion 18 calories So right there over 600 calories, 2x a day is 1200 calories. Add the eggs in and that's over 1300 calories. Depending on what your calorie needs are for a day, there is your food. I'd tend to agree with folks on getting rid of the mozzarella and seafood sticks. The chicken (or turkey, fresh fish but not salmon which is high calorie/fat) would be better. If you wanted to substitute fresh veggies that were mentioned before, that would be better as you're not getting in really any fiber or greens. As I dropped weight my caloric needs went down. I'm sure you've gotten that, but upping the calorie expenditure is another thing. If your body is used to a mile walk, walking at a faster pace or jogging or doing 1.5 or 2 miles would be next suggestion. You also don't detail what you drink. That is a huge factor. Pulling for you!
-
For the people asking for amounts each meal is. 64 grams of seafood sticks 40 grams of mozzarella 105 grams of steamed chicken breast with peri peri salt 24 grams of peppers with garlic and chilli herbs cooked in air fryer without oil 38 grams of steamed mushrooms 50 grams of onion cooked in air fryer

Thanks.... I'll start looking to see what I can find 🙂

The mini gastric bypass is definitely more malabsorptive than the RYGB. I would advise against the mini gastric bypass from my own personal experience.

Officially 2 weeks post op as of yesterday and i feel like i’m finally in a groove : i can serve food and know if it’s too much. I’ve mastered what my new normal portion is. I have also managed to make sure my water intake is ok (not great, around 1.5 litres per day should be a little more). I feel much better and have even had morning or afternoon snacks on the go which is great as i feel i’ll be able to manage once i go back to work next week. I’m not getting enough protein in daily yet because i can no longer stomach protein shakes, they feel heavy on my stomach and have made me throw up the last 2 times i’ve tried them. I have a couple more brands to try and hopefully one of them works. I tried protein water but honestly i can’t stomach it either (taste wise) - everything seems so sweet … I don’t have much room for vegetables and i’m craving some so badly. I’m going to try and incorporate some but i have to prioritise the little protein i’m getting in so it won’t be easy. One thing i’ve learnt this past week: some days i can eat more than others. It almost scared me one day but the next few days i ate so much less than i realised we just need more sometimes ! Weight wise i’m at 10.9 kgs (24 lbs) down which is great so far :) I know a stall is near as everyone mentions the 3 weel stall so i’m’trying to be reasonable and weigh in less ! My new goals for the week are to make sure i reincorporate vitamins and minerals that will help me fight any fatigue next week when i go back to work. And also, to up my protein intake ! Hope everyone is doing well :)
