Anacat- I know that when you are on blood thinners, you can bruise easily. I wonder if they are afraid they may cause bruising?
  3. Just letting everyone know; all went well. They used propofyl so definitely don't remember anything. Quite easy! Really appreciate all of the support I received here. Thanks!
  4. Cheating at this very moment. I have been unable to eat any pureed foods without throwing them back up shortly after. Past two weeks I was getting by on my protein drinks that are supposed to supplement me to 60g. Today I had solid food. I just chewed until it was no longer recognizable as such. So far I haven't lost my meals 😅

From Denial to Appeal to Approval

I lost 87 lbs and went from size 24w to 12/14 ladies but never have reached my goal. Lots of other medical issues with other surgery so have not been able to exercise at all until recently. I just want to feel better. Allie in SC Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

From Denial to Appeal to Approval

I am now in process of getting approved for the RYN due to the reflux disease that I have had for 30 years it's way worse than it was before the sleeve 2 plus years ago. Now taking 10 pills a day just for the reflux and the meds are not working properly at all. I'm either totally nauseous or vomiting all the time. Having lots of tests to get data for insurance company to backup the doctor saying it is necessary for me to do this. I did sleeve surgery going by the surgeon advice and wasn't told that I had the option. Anyway my sleeve surgery went fine but the hernia repair is now back as well. Can you tell me how long it took to get approval?? Good luck to you. Allie in SC Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. I recently had RNY gastric bypass done by Dr. Darren Tishler at Hartfird Hospital, which is a bariatric center of excellence. From the initial educational seminar last May, through the nutritional visits, pre requisites, and insurance coordination, Dr. Tishler and all his staff were fantastic. For the surgery, he gave me a cocktail of meds including one for nerve pain, and another for nausea, which the nurses in the hospital said made my experience easier. While in the hospital he visited me every day (I was there 2 nights). I was on round the clock anti nausea meds, as well as pain meds, which kept me comfortable. Their printed guidelines and diet, constipation, and exercise guidelines are excellent and keep me on track, and never wondering what to eat or do next. Dr. Tishler is extremely experienced and skilled. I can't recommend Dr. Tishler and his staff more highly!!! (I'm 23 days post surgery) Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Extremely rude nurse

Your experience was horrendous and that nurse should be fired.Shes supposed to show you support and not degrade you or your family. Please notify the hospital director and your surgeon as i am sure that he will want to make sure that never happens to one of his patients again.. My daughter is a nurse and would be mortified if I or anyone she was caring for were treated like you were. I had the sleeve and I am waiting for approval for the bigger full bypass surgery. I hope you and your family don't think every one is like that nasty woman. Good luck to you. Allie Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. Getting my surgery date next week. Met with surgeon this week and went over all of my pre op appts/ testing. He said my blood work showed borderline anemia... just under normal with both iron and b12. I was hoping to choose RNY. But now hearing I’m at a higher risk for vitamin deficiency after.. should I consider sleeve instead? Has anyone been in a similar position? Did you still go through with bypass, and were you ok with just the regular amount of vitamins recommended?
  11. Today
  12. Hi there, I was told to continue the shots 1 month after surgery. Today I went for a massage and the lady said that it’s not allowed while on blood thinners. Anybody else was told the same? I am a very healthy 40 yrs old, besides my weight. Thanks and good luck to all of you!

    Bypass v’s Sleeve..... help!

Hey, I had the sleeve 2016,no complications from the surgery or recovery process. But my Reflux disease has gotten much worse because of it.My gastrointestinal doctor says I should of had the complete bypass. So my bariatric surgeon now agrees as instead of taking 2 pills a day for reflux disease I am now taking 10 pills a day. Am currently waiting for approval from insurance company to get the big surgery. Hopefully you are doing great. Good luck with your journey. Allie Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I reached apparently my 1st plateau. Lost 14 pounds 1st week, regained 4 and cannot shake them down. I eat around 700 kcal: 35% Protein, 35% fat and the rest mostly null carbs from veggies. I still have to wait 2 weeks for starting exercising. Grrrrrrrrrrrr
  15. Thanks for all the replies! I'm going to wait a few weeks, and then try either scrambled or soft boiled, if at all!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Best of luck to you too! Hopefully someone who’s been out of surgery a little longer can give us some insight.

    Hydration and fueling issue Cycling

Thanks for info. I actually do Century and a 7 Day 500 mile ride. I did this all at my heaviest weight 305. Never let my size stop me for enjoying riding. I do clip in peddles actually speed plays. I do egg whites I order in half gallon or gallon from international egg whites.com . Most rides I do are support so at every sag stop there is food . It’s the 30 min to drink after eating and riding in the heat is going to be a challenge .

    Feeling full or gassy?!

Hi Jon! Yeah, it feels very weird. That’s why it confuses me on whether it’s gas or pain from being full. However, I measure everything just to be safe. Also, look out for the dumping syndrome. I freaked out but when I called my nurse, she said it’s normal and it’s supposed to happen. Congratulations on your VSG and best of luck ツ

    Feeling full or gassy?!

Hey rosekay! I actually had my VSG on April 17, 2019, so I’m still on my clear liquids. Anyways, I have the exact same feeling after I drink anything. Whether I take the tiniest of sips or just a normal little sip, hot or cold, i always get some terrible gas pains after a couple sips. I’ve read a few things that it’s normal for up to a week, and that it’s just your new stomach adjusting still. But I too have the same gas, stuck in my stomach feeling.
  20. I am so sorry for your loss. It's not easy, but just know you will have that family. You look incredible! I too hit a 100 pound loss this week! I wasn't expecting it my goal weight for myself was 140. It would a 95 loss. But I've been sleeved and bypassed ( with in 17 months) it's been a rough journey. But even through all the craziness, I would do all of this all over again. I love reading your journey. And hope you keep at this! Thanks for sharing, even through the tough parts. I've been there too. We miscarried, took a year to get pregnant, very rough pregnancy and 70 hour labor, and then were unable to conceive a second time. Fertility treatments failed, and by 29 I had to have a hysterectomy. But despite I have an incredible smart 15 year who keeps me busy!
  21. I hit 100 pound loss this week! Whoop! HW 235 SW 227 CW 134 Sleeved 10/12/17 Bypassed 03/04/19 (severe gerd, esophageal restriction) Weight loss has slowed despite being bypassed. I'm actually trying to maintain right now. My personal goal was 140. I think since the end of feb to my 6 week on Monday I've lost 10 lbs.
  22. I had my gastric sleeve done on April 16, 2019. I’m currently in my full liquids stage. When I drink water or eat jello or just consume anything within the rules so to say, I can’t tell if my stomach hurts because I’m full or gassy. I’ve been burping a lot after surgery but past two days I have been having a lot of gas (TMI, sorry). Anyone feel the same?

Oh also, I do get the filmy mouth feeling as well, but I’ve been blaming it on the protein powder from the protein drinks.
