    Pounds lost

I'm just over 18 months post op and am down 177 pounds from my highest weight of 347. Time has flown by, now back to the gym to hit weights harder to try and put on some mass.
  8. Hello all! I had the Duodenal Switch surgery on March 26th and a little less than a week ago I switched from liquids to soft food. Since then, I’ve been getting extremely bad headaches after eating dinner sometimes. I was thinking that maybe it could be the salt content but I’ve had saltier meals and didn’t get a headache. I checked my blood pressure after eating tonight when I got a headache and it was low. I also feel like when I do get these headaches it’s when I accidentally overeat a little so maybe that has something to do with it. If this persists I’ll contact my doctor but I wanted to get some ideas on what it might be first. Thanks in advance!

    Weight-loss funnies

  11. I was on a lot of pain meds. My daughter crushed and measured my meds for the middle of the night. Also, she made her dad food for the first month and I paid her. It was a godsend not having to worry about it.

    Disappearing lapbanders

Hey I'm here with you!! I have the lap band! I am only a week and 4 days post op... Was able to transition to Mushy foods!! That's expected with the band you lose weight slower than you would with sleeve or bypass. You will have to put in some work! Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Marine! Wow that’s amazing weight loss and thanks so much for posting your progress so far. I think I’m going to continue to post progress pics every month as a way to track. It’s easy to get caught up in day to day and forget to take a step back and see the bigger picture

Yes! This is exactly the reason. Even though a small amount for someone else, suddenly increasing carbs will cause us to get “fluffy”. I’ve almost exclusively blocked carbs from my diet, but I’ve noticed lots of joint pain and inflammation and just a general feeling of “ickyness” if I have more than usual. Also, the honeymoon period varies but I’ve been told anywhere between 8-14 months.

    Probiotics?

Christine, do you eat yogurt too? I had my sleeve 2 months ago and I get an ache in my stomach that comes real quick and goes. I'm hoping the protonix and probiotic might help.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Hi all here’s an update and follow on post from after my walk. SW 310.2 WS 293.3 CW 279.8 GW 167.2 So the few days before my walk I started to get some heartburn with every sip I was taking and it was really painful. And feeling dizzy. That upset me greatly as I knew then I wasn’t drinking as much as I need to and just downright annoying. Each time I’d need to lay down. I have my first post op appointment with the dr and dietician tomorrow so I’m going to discuss that with them. Yay, I went for a walk for 25mins. (My knees are feeling it today, however it is more muscles that are tight making my knees hurt so I had already booked a physio appt before surgery, it is in a couple of days) And I need to do some fascia stretching - it’s painful but worth it. My surgery wounds are healing well. 3 out of five have sealed right up. So I started to put a silicone scar gel on them all, it is also bacteria inhibiting. I feel really great with the amount of weight that has gone, here’s some positive reasons so far... Feel like I can actually go for a walk now. Clothes are loose. I feel just a little more agile than I was before. I have the desire to want to do more now - a bit more positive. Standing up from seated somewhere isn’t as hard. I felt a bit nervous before my walk as I’d also been feeling dizzy the days before. Anyway, I blitzed it and it felt amazing to move and be outside. I’m hoping to keep a walk up each day, I’ll just do the same walk until I get fitter. So pats on the back to me! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 And I started to get a sore throat yesterday again, felt the same as the one I had before surgery 🙄 so I didn’t sleep well last night, only 3hours sleep. My ears are blocked so it’s all sinus swelling in my head - painful. I realise this post is possibly long and boring. But an account of how it’s been for me. I’m really looking forward to recovering more ie wounds healing internally and externally and being able to move more and not have so much heartburn, I want to see more dropping down on the scales. I guess when I’ve had to lay down from the heart burn it was making me feel very lazy, like old habits of not moving from the couch. Good luck to everyone having surgery that is still to come. You’ll be fine. Also on the off chance anyone gets a rash from the surgical tape/bandaid things. Sudocream works wonders. High in zinc. And yes it’s also a nappy rash cream. Big hugs all round to everyone, what we are doing is not easy but it’s the best thing long term. I’m excited about the future - that’s hard for me to say. Have a wonderful day all. Be kind to yourself and others.

Wow! How did you lose so much weight so quickly? What was your regime if you don’t mind me asking? When did you start working out after surgery and how often? And any foods that helped you with weight loss?

    Hunger

I’m 4 days post-op and I find that I am struggling with hunger. I’m drinking the water and protein shakes, but I’m still very hungry. Am I the only one who is/has struggling/ed wish this? If so, what did you do? What should I do?
