Toss the box? A NSV with a problem

blogs/blog-0814146001376325200.jpgI had a NSV this past weekend. Unfortunately, along with it came a problem. I had to go get the box out of the attic. You know the one that I filled with the clothes that were too tight. The clothes that I had from the last time I lost some weight .. and the time before that, and the time before that.... How could that possibly be a problem, you ask?

The routine in the past has always been to take out the smaller clothes (hurrah!!) and fill the box with the bigger clothes. At that point, the box sits in the closet for a few weeks while I decide if it goes to charity or back in the attic. Well, having gained and lost the same 40# several times in my adult life coupled with the fact that I'm frugal (ok ok a cheap rat bastard), the nagging thought that I may need those clothes again generally leads to them going back in the attic. Then later when I've lost my resolve and gone back to cramming my pie hole with whatever isn't nailed down.... the box comes out and the the process is repeated in reverse.

I keep telling myself that this time is different. That not only will I never need those clothes again, in all likelihood, I will have to buy new clothes when the "small" clothes are too big in another month. I am quickly coming up to the point where I will be smaller than I have been in 20 years, and my goal is a place that I haven't seen since middle school. Never the less, the box of big clothes is currently sitting in my closet silently mocking me. Stupid box.

TOSS THE BOX!!! I had the same problem. It is still hard for me to wrap my mind around the fact that I have gotten rid of clothes that were too big that used to be my 'I'll get into those someday" clothes. I am almost through all of those and am fixing to be in uncharted waters, or at least I haven't been in them in years. You won't need them again. Ever. Get rid of them and make some room for the new stuff that will be finding it's way in!

I'm so glad you posted about this, because I too have wondered if will have the faith and conviction this time to GET RID of the bigger sizes, and believe that this time, this time I won't need them again.

I'm not sure.

Toss it! I've done the same as you. I packed up all my skinny clothes and passed them to my aunt, who had DS surgery 18 mos ago, and she passed them back to me when they became too big for her. Now, I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel. Most of my skinny clothes are too big. As I shrink out of my clothes, I've been packing up my nicer things for donation to YWCA's Working Wardrobe program, meant to help disadvantaged women build their closets to prepare to go to work. It makes me feel good about getting rid of it all.

I tossed mine ~ right over the banistger. I made a thing of it. I had my family sit on the bed and I said does this go or stay. GO! they would say and I woul throw it over the banister and in my head it was gone forever.

I gave all the bags and shoes to a lady at work and she was grateful. It's gone !

Now I have 3 things to wear, And when you do need clothing buy dresses you can put belts on and they last alot longer than pants!

Dresses on men are kind of frowned upon in most areas of Georgia so unfortunately I will have to stick with pants .... but good advice for the ladies ;-)
