In my experience, there is nothing to do but wait it out or throw up whichever your body decides to do! Trying new food can be a bad experience when it fails. I know because I try new stuff a lot. I have learned to take one bite and then wait. If after a few minutes it is ok I try another bite. If not I stop. I have a sweet tooth too. Making sugar free fat free pudding at home works great and then some fat free whipped topping...mmmm. And as long as I eat a small amount it is fine. I also like sugar free Popsicles. Also, if you want to try making different kinds of protein shakes try going to DashingDish.com and try some of her recipes, some taste very good. Anybody else know "safe" ways to get that sweet taste without the feeling sick?

My Dietitian told me from now on that I will not be able to have anything with real sugar in it ever again. Using splenda, Truvia, or other artificial sweetners is just fine.

I was sleeved on Nov 13 2012 , I have lost 37 lbs .... and I have been really good about consuming healthy things , but this past week I have pushed my limits and I feel so guilty , I have not gained anything nor gotten sick , My doctor told me that I would never be able to have chocolate or sweets ... but on christmas eve , my sister brought over some homemade sweets , which I love....she made this cherry cobbler and some mini rich chocolate cakes with nutella in the middle :( .. I had a few bites here and there for the past 3 days , and thats not it

:( ......................................................... I have started drinking regular coffee I just dont like the decaf .

I was sleeved on December 18th, I'm still in my full liquid phase, and I don't think I would suggest anyone doing this during the holidays. I'm getting better and I did chew a very small piece of spiral ham and spit it out, that was the extent of my cheating. I know that sound disgusting but it worked for me. I don't know if you can do that on sweets to chew it and spit it out but that was suggested by a fellow sleever in my pre-op class. I've lost 20 pounds since my pre-op diet and 7 pounds since I've been sleeved.

I try everything. For me sweets in general never feel good going down. Fortunately (or unfortunately?) they haven't made me sick. One great thing I have found is Starbucks hot cocoa mix. I mix it with skim or 1% lactose free milk and seriously the chocolate is so good. It's not sugar free but it doesn't make me sick and it satisfies my chocolate craving.

I have two coworkers who both had the Bypass and both eat things they and I were told we'd never be able to eat again. One is 9 months out while the other is about 11 months. I've witnessed both of them eatting chocolate at different times. I've watched one of them eat a whole Kitkat bar (normal size) and have no problem whatsoever. FTR....Both have lost well over 100LBS each. Their eatting habits haven't changed much except for the amount. Their intake is about 1/10 of what they used to scarf down.
