Ohwhataworld

Hey all, I've heard some scary stories of people who have gotten sleeved and experienced some really bad hair loss. My hair is just touching my shoulders and I absolutely do not want any of my hair falling out. I've heard of zinc and biotin helps to prevent hair loss, also to make sure i'm getting my protein. I'm kinda scared and don't want to loss any of my hair. Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Funny this topic should come up as I was getting my blood taken yesterday and ironically the person taking my blood had been sleeved as well and begin talking to me about losing hair and she said biotin was amazing so of course I ran out and bought it. Started taking it yesterday. It helps for nails too (my nails are a hot mess ) they break and crack bad. Best of luck.

I am not taking anything and haven't lost a single strand at almost 5 months out. But, years ago when undergoing chemo I didn't lose my hair and it was because my hair grows very slowly and I think that's one of the reasons why I have kept my hair.

I've also taken Biotin.. and I started way before I had the surgery. Nothing helps.. but I will say that I have locs and that I've only lost hair along the right side of my hairline. Not much though.. But let me input that that area's always been a week spot/stress point for me. Sooo.. with me It seems I've only lost hair where I've had troubles in the past. Other than that everythings great.. That's literally the only spot where I've lost hair.. The rest of my hair/hairline is very thick and has stayed put... I wonder if I didn't have damage in that area would I be losing hair at all..hmmm lol

WOW! Thanks everyone for the comments. I'm actually feeling really nervous now. I don't want to loose my hair! I'm hoping I get lucky and won't loose any or not to much. :(

Hair loss occurs for two reasons...lack of protein and the body reaction to major surgery. Your body is trying to repair itself and you are not able to take in the same amount of protein and calories as you did prior to surgery. When this occurrs, your body has to prioritize what it need to do with the calories you are taking in...A. repair the body and maintain organ health or B. grow hair. It's going to choice "A" always! Hair loss is usually temporary occuring between month 3 and 6. If it continues beyond 6 months, then you need to increase your protein intake.
