Bad Timing And Regret

Today, for the first time I regret having this surgery.

Not in all my life of professional dieting (lol) have I ever felt so out of control about losing weight.

Nothing I do seems to break this stall,When my friend went on a crazy detox and liquids for 5 days to drop 5 pounds after a 2 week stall,I told her to relax, eat exercise and the weight will come off.Now (my surgery was 2 weeks after hers) I am in this crazy stall.the weight seems to come off and then bounces back on,over and over and over.

I have huge stress in my life with the not knowing where we are moving, leaving my child behind....for sure I dont need this weight rubbish as well.If liquids is what is takes then liquids is what we'll do.

I hate this sleeve.

I'm so sorry you are regreting the sleeve... I have heard about the weight loss stalls but never one that leads to regret.. I hope things come to a quick resolve with your life and the sleeve.. Good luck!

Put the scale away for a month. If we look at the scale too often it can cause a lot of doubt when in fact it is just our body getting adjusted to this huge change. My Dr says 15 pounds a month after the first month is what he hopes for. As a woman, our weight can fluctuate for any number of things as much as 5 pounds a day. Shoot, I can have a stress filled day and gain 5 even without the surgery.

Didn't you just overeat like 5 days ago per your blog? Sweetheart, you are missing your coping mechanism. Believe me, I know the feeling so pls don't think I'm posting hate messages or anything ill willed, just maybe poorly said on my part.

Remember you did this surgery to save your life - remember you said previously you were glad to have this surgery or you would have gained 30 more lb.s by now? I too understand that feeling.

Ok the weight gain didn't happen overnight. It's not going to come off that way either. Relax, practice patience, know that God is trying to get you to learn to work on the head while the body takes it sweet time.

Some basics that I try to remind myself whenever I get to this level of frustration:

Are you exercising on a consistent basis?

Are you drinking your water?

Are you tracking your input (calories in) vs. calorie burn (calories out)? To that, I suggest myfitnesspal.com - it's wonderful!

You have a lot of stress in your life right now so that's only adding to things. Relax, find a way to 'destress' and practice THESE basics - get your water in, get your exercise in on a consistent basis and track your i's and o's (inputs and outputs) and I BET you $100 you will see the scale move. Don't revert to 'fad diets' like going back to total liquids. You cannot live on those. But I too know how easy that appeals to me too whenever I'm stuck, grr. Practice the 'basics' and know tomorrow is going to be better!

Good luck!

I agree with all the encouragement here. I'm also glad you, I, and other's have this space to vent on days that we feel so very low, as well as our triumphant ones. I'm a new sleever, tomorrow is one week post-op and I too feel up and down everyday so far. I know one day I will believe this was a great choice and since reading here, I also know there will be days ahead that I will question it over and over. Keep sharing with us, even the really bad stuff, this is our safe place to say anything while going through this. I hope your family life, home situation, and current stall finds a solution you will be at peace about! Take care of yourself, and vent here anytime, knowing someone here is feeling it with you! Together we are stronger!

Hey Desert Mom,

It's been a while since we went for coffee but I need to tell you a few things that we didn't get to discuss while out and maybe I didn't support you as you needed, my sister here in Dubai. First of all, the surgery is not a magic fix, it seems it might be that way for those people who take off weight quickly and that certainly might make you feel discouraged at times. However, stop looking at your scale, eat the smart way, log your food entries and keep a positive outlook. the surgery CANNOT fail you unless YOU are doing something wrong. So don't hate the sleeve, work the sleeve. Stop going on these crazy liquid diets, get your protein, go walking or swimming (light excercise), drink your water (if you are like me and don't like water then drink your tea with agave syrup and low fat milk for extra protein and calcium). Stop beating yourself up, take good care of yourself both physically and emotionally, don't put ANY expectations on this, just flow. Stop feeding into the negative people who are on this site and maybe you have met in person, block it OUT. And darling come have a cup of coffee with me sometime you live half hour from me let's meet up it sounds like you need some practical and positive advice:) CALL ME!

Also, have patience....God will work wonders for you if you just have faith.

"Oh you who believe! Seek help with patient perseverance and prayer, for God is with those who patiently persevere." (2:153)

"Be sure We shall test you with something of fear and hunger, some loss in goods, lives, and the fruits of your toil. But give glad tidings to those who patiently persevere. Those who say, when afflicted with calamity, 'To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return.' They are those on whom descend blessings from their Lord, and mercy. They are the ones who receive guidance." (2:155-157)

"No one will be granted such goodness except those who exercise patience and self-restraint, none but persons of the greatest good fortune." (41:35)

Kisses and love to you:)
