Am I too sensitive?

My teenage( Size 3)! daughter mentioned that I am no "fun" anymore. I just was banded 6/6 for goodness sake. She mentioned she misses the late night fast food runs and chinese buffets. wow. I know deep down she is happy for me but it kind of hurt my feelings. Is that uncommon? I wonder if other people have experienced little comments like that? My life really does revolve around food and over the last 6mos of pre-op I realized my obsession. My biggest addiction was diet soda--giving that up was hard and I was pretty grouchy for a week or 2. I also love to cook & watch cooking shows...so I have given that up temporarily.Maybe I am being too sensitive but I would like my family to just be patient for the next few weeks. I'm sure I will be ''fun' again when I have more energy :)

Teens are pretty selfish.. they aren't concerned with our health just how much "fun" they have. I wouldn't worry much about those comments.. they don't understand the struggle especially if she is a size 3... You might remind your family that you would like to stay around for them and that is why you are trying to do something about your health... but once you start losing I am sure they will be happy for you.. My grandchildren who are teens noticed recently my 40 lb loss.. and they are really happy for me... hang in there..

I am not there yet, but I do have a teen and yes they are pretty selfish. They just can't help it. lol Try not to let it hurt your feelings.

Once you heal and feel better you can do other fun things that don't involve food, or at least better foods, and this will also set a great example for your family. That's my plan. Outings, mini-putt, hikes, swimming/beach, family game night, back yard sports - always wanted to play laser tag! etc.

I was a size 2-4 at one point in my life, but I wish I knew then about eating better and activity. I try to tell my teen to be conscious of the types of foods she eats not only for her health in general, but there may come a day when it all catches up...it all caught up to me.

There's a time in life (your time is now) where things need to be about YOU! Ignore the comments (I too have a tine 17yr old) and be happy that you have started your own journey. One day she will be thrilled when you are looking and feeling great. Go and live your life lady....you have a ton of support here. BTW....my daughter is afraid I am going to borrow her clothes.....I said "Well...I paid for them"! lol.....Good Luck. Lisa
