Finally an answer!!!!!!!!!

After doing everything that I could to lose weight and going nuts I went to my primary care physician on friday to have a checkup and blood and urine work. So.......drum roll please!

Tah dah! There is something wrong with me. My kidney's!! I've never been so happy to have a health issue ever! So It wasnt me. I havent cheated on my diet. I'm in the gym 6 days a week and busting my butt. I have a great restriction and under 1000 calories. I explained to my doctor what was happening and how crazy I was going by not losing. I weighed in at 279 on my appointment. So i took a urine test. Nope, it wasnt me. I have a condition where my kidneys does not process salt. I eat a low sodium diet and everything, but still my body holds onto salt and causes water retention.

I am waiting for my blood work to come back to see if I have to see a kidney specialist. In the mean time my wonderful doctor gave me temporary meds to flush my system. I feel great!!! I am down to 271 today! I actually had a semi- cheat. I ate one slice of pizza and no bloat, no gaining 3lbs!!! I've lost 2 inches in my waist too and dont feel like a puffy mess.

I feel like a weight has been lifted and i'm in a much better mood now. After all these years I wonder why no one found this. So it's not my metabolisim! yeah!!!

Texasbandit, as sorry as I am to hear that your kidney's are not working as they are supposed to do, I am tickled pink for you to discover why you were not losing. It really made no sense in my mind, since you were doing everything to your body that is supposed to produce weight loss. I am glad you are back and in a much better frame of mind. It is so nice to see you upbeat.

Yay!! You have an answer! And while having a kidney issue isn't fun, it must feel great to finally know the reason for no weight loss. Hopefully the scale will continue to move downward for you!

You need a new doctor! A urinalysis is routine with any blood work and would have revealed your issue a long time ago. Come see me at michaelwasfat.blogspot.com

Sorry for the medical problems but glad you got some answers. Remember to make healthy choses for your meals, pizza is not really the best option for us, yes we can have it occassionaly but we need to eat lean proteins, vegtables and fruits. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am so very sorry to hear that you have some problems with your kidneys, but at least you now know what you are dealing with. Take care of yourself and continue to keep your salt intake as low as possible. Taking prescription water pills are a temporary fix and a lot of the water retention is controled by the things you eat. I have the same problem. I can tell right off the bat if I am eating something that's too high in salt. I do wish you the very best of luck. I think to be on the safe side I would make and appointment with a urinalysis.

water retention is tricky. I suffer from the same problem. If i don't take my daily water pill, I'll gain 8lbs in 3 days easy. continue to work with your doctor to determine what the best treatment is for you. Since you're new to this, take care to read labels, many salt substitutes are not to be used in conjunction with a water pill. Try Mrs Dash, she has great sesonings and marinades and they're all salt free!
