Protein Shakes/Bars which is the best kind?

Grey Cat

I am down 14 lbs. and have been eating Adkins products, bars and shakes… Does anyone have any better alternatives? The morning Breakfast bar is still making me sleepy after i eat it about an hour of breakfast. I do not get sleepy if i just drink the shakes- but its not enough to fill me up. What does anyone think? I am 7 weeks post op. Had one fill last week so far. I have taken your comments to heart because Success is learned and taught. It does not just happen! - catina :))

I've been using the RVL Meal Replacement Shakes from Mona Vie along with a supplement capsule and a protein bar. I drink a shake in the morning with a capsule. It fills me up and gives me energy. I usually stay full till 12-1, then I have a sensible lunch. Sometimes I get a little hungry in the afternoon so I'll eat a half of a protein bar. Then for dinner I usually drink another shake and take a capsule and I'm pretty well done for the day. Sometimes I'll eat a healthy dinner, just depends on my schedule and how I feel. Since I started these shakes about a month and a half ago I've dropped 25 lbs, my hair isn't falling out anymore and I feel great!! Overall since LapBand I'm down 100 lbs.

i don't understand any of this. I eat 1 serving of Cream of Wheat + 4 oz of fat-free, sugar-free yogurt every morning for breakfast. (total=170 calories) I don't know why there is any talk of these shakes or breakfast bars which I imagine have too many calories. It is important to eat as you will for the rest of your life. currently 14 weeks post-op, down 67 pounds

I guess I should add, I have not had a protein shake since I was on the liquid statge of lap band. I had surgary 4/4/11 and have lost 95 pounds since then. I have 50 left to go! I have lost no hair and have stayed healthy. I eat a lot of protein, but I eat often. I am one of those people who has to eat 6 small meals a day and it works for me. Here is what I ate yesterday if it helps.

activia yogurt with a 1/4 cup kashi go lean crunch in it.

home made latte ( 1 cup skim milk)

sliced truckey sauage (1)

Taco time white bean chicken chili (under 200 cals for less than a cup)

6 cherry tomatos and 1 sting cheese

1/2 of a two hundred cal turkey healthy choice with fruit meal

lots of water

Looking at this I need to get more veggies in, so today I will have some kind of salad with more veggies!

Enjoy your lap-band and eat, you need bulk, not slider foods
