congrats on your banding...i'm sure your doc went over that with you...or the nurse. You have to realize your tummy will be swollen for a couple of days afterwards..you don't want to eat regular food just yet. not even mushies. i think i waited a week after surgery to start eating mushies. good luck to you

For me, I can have anything that is less thick than the shakes. So broths/soups (strained, of course) are ok. I'm drinking a lot of protein drinks my doc gave me before surgery. I think it's interesting you get jello. My doc told me no on jello. All docs are different. But I think the standard is two weeks of liquid hell.

I'm hoping it's just a week for me....go to the dr on 4/8/2011 to give me the go ahead to Phase 2. Chicken noodle soup, eggs, and cream of wheat here I come....lol.

I stayed on liquids for 3 days then mushies for 3 days and since I had no issues with that he advanced me to regular food. He explained to me that if a patient is not having any problems with foods that it is perfectly acceptable to move onto regular food.

I was banded on the 4th and am on liquids for the first week. I have been drinking Tomato and potato soups (strained the potatos out) and Yougert. I was told anything I can suck through a straw is fine. 2nd week for me is mushies and the third week I am supose to introduce solids. I t is interesting how good I feel two days out, lots of energy but I also need a little extra sleep.
